JORDAN Rhodes is expected to be named in the official Blackburn Rovers squad list for today’s Championship clash at home to Bournemouth (3pm) despite the fact that Hull City remain locked in talks with the Ewood Park outfit for his signature.

But it is unclear whether the £12m-rated Rovers striker will play any part in what would be his 100th appearance for the club following his club record £8m move from Huddersfield Town in August 2012.

What is clear is that Hull still want to make Rhodes their club record signing after having an initial £8m bid rejected on Thursday.

As the Lancashire Telegraph was going to press Rovers had not accepted an offer from the Premier League side – with owners Venky’s having the ultimate say.

But board-level negotiations were ongoing between the Tigers – whose current club record signing is £8m midfielder Jake Livermore – and their Ewood counterparts.

Managing director Derek Shaw has been leading the negotiations for Rovers.

However the final decision on whether Rhodes, who has scored 53 goals for the club, stays or goes will be made by Venky’s.

Gary Bowyer admitted on Thursday that the situation is ‘out of his hands’.

But the Rovers boss wants a resolution as soon as possible as he seeks to strengthen his squad before the transfer window slams shut on Monday week.

Hull are willing to throw in one of their players to help push through a deal to take Rhodes to the KC Stadium.

One of those players is definitely defender Alex Bruce – who is the son of Tigers boss Steve Bruce.

The 29-year-old, who can play at centre back, right back and in front of the defence, was on the books of Rovers as youngster.

But he left the club in January 2005 without making a first-team appearance.

Rovers do not want to sell Rhodes, who has scored 53 goals in 99 games for the club, and they hoped to fend off potential suitors by handing the 24-year-old a lucrative new and improved five-year contract last month.

But that has not stopped Hull, whose assistant manager and former Rovers midfielder Steve Agnew is Rhodes’ uncle, from becoming the first club to table a formal bid for the Scotland international.

Jason Lowe has made it clear that the players do not want Rhodes to leave.

The Rovers right back said: “Obviously there’s always going to be interest in Jordan because of the amount of goals he’s scored for us over the last couple of seasons.

“His level of performances have been second to none, he’s a great lad and hopefully we can do everything we can to keep hold of him as he’s a vital member for us.

“We’ll see what happens but hopefully we’ll keep hold of him.”

Tigers manager Steve Bruce said this morning: "It's something which we're trying to progress if that's possible.

"There has been a bid lodged and while I believe the first one was refused, I believe the two clubs are still talking."
