BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has confirmed that Hull City have made a move for Jordan Rhodes - but the club have turned down the Premier League outfit's initial offer, which is believed to have been £8m.

Hull are in the market for a striker after selling Shane Long to Southampton for £12m and have approached Rovers about their star man Rhodes.

At a press conference this afternoon Bowyer confirmed: "There has been an enquiry which has been taken to the board and the owners and that's as much as I know."

As things stand Rhodes is still in Rovers' squad for Saturday's home match against Bournemouth, which would be his 100th appearance for the club.

Speaking after his side's Europa League loss at Lokeren tonight Hull boss Steve Bruce said he was unaware the bid had been turned down before adding: "There's been dialogue at boardroom level and we'll see what comes of it.

"It's somebody who we are interested in and we've tabled a bid.

"What the situation is - as I talk to you now - I'm not quite sure until I see the powers-that-be."
