RUBEN Rochina is in Spain ahead of a proposed move to Granada.

The 23-year-old has passed a medical with the La Liga outfit and is set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal tomorrow.

Reports in Spain suggest Rovers will receive a fee for Rochina who has one year remaining on his Ewood Park contract.

A massive loss.

I'd much rather have Rochina than Varney and Markus Ollson. If Rochina was given as much backing as King and Willmanson, who have been given chance after chance, then that would have been interesting. In my view, he still makes much less errors than King and Willamson but Rochina always gets the stick!

Good luck Rochina, I think you are too good for this once great club.

Ok then, time to draw a line under it. I guess this was primarily a financial rather than football decision. Personally, I feel it's a shame to lose such a creative talent but I have to respect the decision of the manager and move on. Good luck Rueben, see you in our next European campaign.

I would tend to agree with these comments, other players have received much more support and patience than this talented player. Maybe he doesn't comply with patient disciplined cautious approach that GB seems to require from his team during most of the season, this was the case until his back was against the wall at the end of last season and then he threw caution to wind and we then started to get results. It's a pity GB didn't think that he could not cater for having this young man in his squad,

The thing with Rochina is where would you play him? Who do you drop?
He wants regular football, but I wouldn't drop Rhodes or Gestade, he can't play on the wing and he's no centre mid.

He's got a lot if technical ability but he's a bit of a luxury player, we can't give him a guaranteed starting place so a move is for the best.

A talented player who could help you in your fight against relegation discarded because you've just broke the bank (literally) to provide Jordan Rhodes and his agent with a retirement fund. £53,000 a week to keep a want-away player, how can that possibly contribute to a healthy dressing room?

A farce on all levels.

I agree that others have had much more oppotunity than Rochina but this has been on the cards for a long time. It's obviously a financial matter and Rochina has now been shown the door like others before him. I would have liked him to have been given another chance but unfortunately finances dictate these days. A player of great potential IMO if given a proper run of games, which he never really had here.

Sad to see him go, good to watch but a "luxury" player at best, I find it a bit disturbing that some fans describe him a "great", he hasn't done anything to deserve that epithet.

From my perspective while he has skill in abundance, and the ability to get the fans on their feet he lacks a football brain, as I have said many times before had he half the football brain of Tugay he would have been potentially brilliant.

That said, good luck to the lad, I for one hope he suddenly gets a few lumps of grey matter to collide and proves me wrong. :-)

Bad move. That kind of player is the difference between promotion and stagnation. Bowyer speaks a lot about "personality" in the team as its more important than skill, a typical youth coach mentality (whether thats good or bad). Obviously he saw Ruben as a problem in that regard.

Can I remind people, do remember when we beat Arsenal and Man UTD in the seaon we go relegated. Rochina was key.

In that season he was our joint second top scorer, even though he played 15% of the time. Do the maths!

Bad management GB, finding the cash to fund and give so many chances/backing/prai
se to players like DJ Cambell who repeatedly failed to score and recently, Varney, Willamson, Ollson etc....
