This Is Lancashire: Tommy Spurr is carrying a groin injury Tommy Spurr is carrying a groin injury

BLACKBURN Rovers will field two entirely different line-ups in today's pre-season opener at Conference Premier new boys AFC Telford United (3pm).

Luke Varney is the sole summer signing included in the Rovers squad but youngsters Anthony O’Connor, Darragh Lenihan, Jack O’Connell, Devarn Green and John O’Sullivan will be given a chance to impress.

Alex Baptiste, who last night joined the club on a season-long from Bolton Wanderers, and David Dunn and Markus Olsson, who earlier in the day penned new one-year contracts, have not travelled.

Tommy Spurr misses out with a groin injury while Paul Robinson, Corry Evans, Jason Lowe and first summer recruit Chris Brown also do not feature.

Rovers first half team: Eastwood, Marshall, O'Connor, Hanley, Kilgallon, King, Taylor, Cairney, Conway, Rhodes, Gestede.

Rovers second half team: Kean, Henley, Songo'o, Lenihan, O'Connell, Green, Williamson, O'Sullivan, Varney, Rochina, Best.

Four nil win but result doesn't matter. Well done to Rochina. Let's hope its a sample of what's to come. At least a nil score is a start even against Telford. No disrespect intended.

LOL bumming themselves up against Telford.

You couldn't make it up.

Suppose you've got to when you're a no-dad. This will be the highlight of your season.

SC strikes again. Let's just wait and see. If we win it's because of the team we are playing. If we lose it will be because we are no good. Now the season is getting closer by the minute the Burnley fans will be getting excited at seeing their team play PL teams. Let's see how long that excitement lasts before they realise they are not a PL team but a div one team playing in the PL.

"bumming yourself up" ?? strange little boy !

Nice start, as has been said result doesn't matter but a useful run out. No injuries and good to see Best play and score. If he is still here we should try to get something out of him this season. More than capable of scoring although probably from the bench. Can't wait to see the first choice 11 play together. Things are looking good.

The thing with Best is that he thinks he's too good to start on the bench. That was his problem last season and pprobably caused the fallout with Bowyer. He'll have to change his attitude and realise every player is part of the squad, same with Rochina. No one can be guaranteed a start every week and that includes Rhodes if his form dips.

Big problem was he started under the Steve Kean cloud, got injured and never really settled into the team. His attitude doesn't seem to be the greatest but if no one wants him we should try to find a use for him. Physically he has the attributes to be a goalscorer at this level.

Didn't Telford knock you goons out of the FA Cup once?

Telford 3-0 B'stards!

I agree and hope he can get his head together and knuckle down and earn his keep. He could easily give us 10 to 15 goals a season but where do we fit him in as Rhodes and Gestede now seem to be first choice at the moment, then there's Brown and Varney. Would he be happy to wait for his chance?

Job Done !! hope your right about more to come from Rochina. Some Sunday papers are saying he is off back to Spain. l hope he stays because he can win a game on his own and he has skill in abundance.

Agree and should also apply to substitutions which would have meant Rhodes making way for subs on a number of occasions last season however it never happened.

Is Bowyer / Team GB ( for I am sure he consults the rest of his coaching staff) to be more ruthless this season to make these big calls.

I am yet to be convinced.
