THE gears in Wanderers’ transfer business may be about to start grinding again in the final week before players return to Euxton for pre-season testing.

Reports yesterday claimed Blackburn Rovers are preparing an offer to sign Whites defender Alex Baptiste, having given up on Crystal Palace’s Jack Hunt and Leeds United’s Lee Peltier.

The former Blackpool defender lost his place under Dougie Freedman at the end of last season after making some high-profile errors and rumours have persisted all summer that he is looking to leave the club.

Blackburn have been actively searching for a right-back, while sources at Ewood Park say that manager Gary Bowyer also wants a versatile player who can cover across the back four.

Should an approach materialise, Wanderers would almost certainly have to recruit a replacement before the start of the season. It could even open a spot for Peltier – highly rated by Freedman – who is also thought to be a target for Nottingham Forest.

Peltier is understood to want to leave Leeds on a free transfer but has been unable to negotiate his way out of the remaining 12 months of his contract while the managerial situation has been vacant.

The future of two other Wanderers stars is in equal doubt, with Marvin Sordell being chased by Burnley and Keith Andrews targeted by Huddersfield Town.

Freedman welcomes his players back in small groups at the end of this week for fitness and health monitoring but wants the majority of his business done by the time he flies for the first warm-up game against Brondby on July 10 in Copenhagen.

A striker remains the priority but there has been no indication the Whites have matched Derby County’s offer of £1million for Middlesbrough’s Lukas Jutkiewicz.

If DF reads this sell Baptist he is a risk at the back look at the last few games of last term he was sent off and gave away 2 spot kicks we could gave done with out cut your losses on this on. Then from there use any money's raised to sign the duke you know it makes perfect sense then before the start of the season get in lee pelter at the back from Leeds

No-brainer for me. Juke or Baps? Juke every time.

As for Kieth Andrews, he does not have the desire to play at BWFC as god a p;layers as he is, that is plain to see - we need a fee from him and not a compensation package being paid to his agent etc. If there is compensation then this should be written into the fee or just send him out on loan until his contract is up.

Sordell can go to. I think 2-million is good enough and could bring in Juke on that merit.

No-brainer DF.

No player with ambition to play Premiership football is going to stay,or come to Bolton. The players remaining from last season and those signed since are established bottom half of Championship players and that will not change, no matter who the coach is. Relegation is, without doubt, more likely than promotion.

If there is any chance of getting a fee for Alex Baptiste then the Wanderers should take it. He didn't cost us anything and his performances last season were often below par. A man who can't tackle with his left foot should not be asked to play at left back, and this is the fault of the manager, not him, but in my view he's another Steinsson, much better going forward than defending.
We have three young right backs who have all played at senior level - Riley, White and Threlkeld. I'd start the season with Riley, he's 22 and he's ready.

All The Bolton Fans your viewing the performances towards the end, think of how many points he salvaged for our beloved club and the crucial goals he scored. Unless someone like McNaughton or Hutton come in I personally would keep him at the club. Moving positions is no easy task and for him to play at both RB and LB after playing CB for many years at Blackpool its not something that happens over a season it takes time and he was never settled in one position because of injuries. I await to see what happens over the transfer window and see how the cogs turn and see what players come and which players go.

to be frank yeah he did salvage something for us last season however i feel that there are better left back out there and the money that we get from the sale can go towards increasing the money boro want for the duke i know we should get in a bidding war as the price could and will go to high for him but for the right price tag he will fit perfect with what we need at the moment a out and out goal scorer

If im perfectly honest I don't think Blackburn will make a bid or even make contact about baptiste and can see him staying, as much as we want the juke he might go elsewhere if we cannot come up with the funds boro want and as much as that may hurt we just have to accept it.
