DAVID Goodwillie has left Blackburn Rovers by mutual agreement.

The striker, whose last appearance for the club came on the final day of the 2012-13 season, had one year remaining on his contract.

Goodwillie was signed by then Rovers manager Steve Kean in August 2011 for a reported £2.8m from Dundee United.

But the Scotland international made just 10 starts for the club, plus an additional 24 appearances off the bench, scoring five goals.

During his three-year spell at Ewood Park he was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace and, last season, to Dundee United and then Blackpool.

A Rovers statement read: "Blackburn Rovers Football Club and David Goodwillie confirm the player's departure from the club by mutual agreement.

"The club thanks David for his work and dedication during his time at Ewood Park and wishes him all the best for the future."

Goodwillie was one of six players to be transfer listed by Rovers last month.

The others are Dickson Etuhu, Leon Best, DJ Campbell, Jordan Slew and Alex Marrow.
