Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Slew interesting Ross County

This Is Lancashire: Jordan Slew has made just two substitute appearances for Rovers including one at Old Trafford in the 2011-12 season Jordan Slew has made just two substitute appearances for Rovers including one at Old Trafford in the 2011-12 season

FORGOTTEN Blackburn Rovers forward Jordan Slew is wanted by Ross County.

The 21-year-old, who has not played for Rovers since January 2012, spent the second half of last season on loan at the Scottish Premiership outfit.

Although he managed to score only one goal in 20 appearances his performances impressed Ross County manager Derek Adams.

And it is understood that former Burnley midfielder Adams could yet attempt to take Slew back to the Staggies.

Rovers would not stand in the former England U19 international’s way.

They placed Slew on the transfer list last month along with five other players – Dickson Etuhu, Leon Best, DJ Campbell, David Goodwillie and Alex Marrow – who have no part to play in boss Gary Bowyer’s plans.

Slew is on nowhere near the money that Etuhu, Best and Campbell command.

But his four-year contract, which has 12 months remaining on it, was signed when Rovers were a Premier League club.

He arrived at Ewood Park in a £1.1m deal from Sheffield United on transfer deadline day in August 2011.

But Slew has managed just two substitute appearances since then, both of which came in the 2011/12 season under Steve Kean.

Slew admitted after his loan spell at Ross County ended that he would welcome the chance to return to the Scottish outfit.

He said: “I was injured for a long time when I was at Blackburn and coming here and getting the games, I know I have become a better person and a better player.

“The league is very physical, very demanding mentally but enjoyable to play in and I wouldn’t mind coming to play in this league again.”

Another Rovers youngster who is attracting interest is Josh Morris.

The 22-year-old spent the final three months of last season on loan at Fleetwood Town.

And it understood he could yet be offered the chance to move to the Cod Army permanently after playing a major role in their promotion to League One.

Morris scored two goals in 17 appearances for the Cod Army – the last coming in their play-off final victory over Burton Albion at Wembley – and was named the League Two player of the month for April.

The versatile midfielder is a product of Rovers’ youth system and remains under contract with the club.

But he has found his opportunities limited and he could be allowed to leave if he stresses his desire for first-team football.

Not going to make as much of a dent in our FFP margin as the sales of Best or Etuhu would, but it all helps. He's nowhere near our first team but he impressed on loan at Ross County so it's a deal that suits everyone.

So we take a transfer ban.. Not much of a big deal when half of the division are in the same position and we already have a very decent squad.
