BLACKBURN Rovers have yet to receive an enquiry for the transfer listed David Goodwillie but remain keen to move the striker on.

Reports had suggested Rangers want to sign the 25-year-old.

But the Glasgow giants have not been in touch with their Ewood Park counterparts.

Rovers are willing to listen to offers for Goodwillie after putting him up for sale along with fellow forwards Leon Best, DJ Campbell and Jordan Slew and midfielders Dickson Etuhu and Alex Marrow.

But it remains unclear whether Rangers, who are aiming to win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership this season, can match the Scotland international’s £12,000-per-week wages.

If that proves to be the case the Ibrox outfit could ask to take Goodwillie, who has one year remaining on his Rovers contract, on loan.

The 25-year-old spent the majority of last season out on loan.

Goodwillie netted six goals in 22 games for his boyhood club Dundee United before returning to Rovers in January.

He was named in Gary Bowyer’s squad for the clash at Nottingham Forest but did not make it off the bench and Rovers boss Bowyer agreed to send him back out on loan to Championship rivals Blackpool.

He helped the Seasiders beat the drop by scoring three goals in 13 matches.

Goodwillie has also been loaned out to Crystal Palace during his three-year spell at Ewood. He was signed by then Rovers manager Steve Kean in August 2011 for a reported £2.8m from Dundee United.

But the former Scottish Young Player of the Year has made just 10 starts for Rovers and an additional 24 appearances off the bench, notching five goals.

His last appearance for the club came in the 1-1 draw at Birmingham on the final day of the 2012-13 season.

It has also been reported that Rangers want to rival Rovers for the signing of Cardiff City’s out-of-contract Scotland international midfielder Don Cowie.

The 31-year-old’s character, versatility and experience would appeal to Bowyer but it is understood Cowie, who seems set to reject a new deal from Cardiff, will not be making a move to Ewood Park.
