Rovers ace Lowe has goal aim

BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Jason Lowe has vowed to add more goals to his game next season.
Lowe was a regular in the Rovers side during the 2013/14 campaign and his long-range strike against Middlesbrough earned him the Peter White Memorial Trophy for the goal of the season.
But that remains his only goal in 123 appearances for Rovers since making his first-team debut in 2011, and he knows that statistic must improve.
“I need to add a few more goals to my game and that’s what I’m going to do next year,” Lowe said.
“It was nice that the one against Middlesbrough went in and it was a great feeling to get the award.
“I wanted to get off the mark soon as possible and I was working really hard to do that. I still do.”
Rovers narrowly failed to make the Championship play-offs, finishing eighth in the table.

Lowe rues missing out on the top six and admits the squad can look back on a number of ‘what if’ moments.
“You can look back at five or six games over the season when we could have picked up more points,” he said.
“For whatever reason we didn’t but it was through no lack effort and caring.
“If we can touch up on the errors and mistakes we’ve made this year, I’m sure we’ll be in good stead for next year.”
The Championship’s controversial new financial fair play regulations will be under discussion again today when the Football League hold their AGM in Portugal.
Several clubs including Rovers are currently in danger of facing a transfer embargo when the rules come into force in January, and there has been some support for late changes to the regulations.
Also set to be discussed at the AGM will be Greg Dyke’s controversial plan for Premier League ‘B teams’ to play in the Football League.
Rovers managing director Derek Shaw said: “We want to help the FA where we can but I’m not a big believer in this ‘B league’ plan.
“We think the loan system can provide young players with terrific experience – as happened with Michael Keane.”
Meanwhile, former Blackburn Rovers youngster Gavin Gunning has been released at the end of his contract by Scottish Premier League side Dundee United.
