ONCE they were the respective captains of Blackburn Rovers and Burnley, but now Ryan Nelsen has been fined by the MLS after offering his support to Steven Caldwell.

Nelsen is Caldwell’s boss at MLS side Toronto and was unhappy when the defender was sent off for a high tackle against Sporting Kansas City.

"If they gave Steven a yellow, nobody would have blinked an eyelid," Nelsen said.

"But because (referee Baldomero Toledo) has set a precedent throughout his refereeing career that he always likes to influence games, he decided to give a red for what was really a yellow card."

Nelsen has now been fined an undisclosed amount by the MLS for those comments.

Don't suppose the LT got a quote from him about what went on with his Rovers contract. From receiving the last rites in Brockhall to a man of the match performance for Spurs...in 3 days!

Be careful. You will now be peppered with Venkys propaganda and a deluge of hatred for asking such a perceptive question.
Smile, excitedly fidget in your seat and clap...and you might just get away with it...a bit like Basil Fawlty...."I mentioned the war once but i think i got away with it!

Haha. David Vincent knows!
I am still trying to hold on to two separate themes at the same time. My desire to support my team and my determination NOT to allow the abuse of BRFC to be minimised, explained away, redefined or swept under the carpet.

One of the finest captains I ever saw down at Rovers, not prepared to work with the incompetent Kean, so engineered a way out. Don't blame him.

Don't worry. I think we know where the true blame lies. Shame he signed an NDA, though. I think fans deserved the truth from "one of the finest captains"...
