l have followed football for longer than l care to remember, this new venture for a female football academy at Ewood is a complete waste of time, for starters, l do not enjoy watching women trying to play the game its much worse than watching the boys and l think its a complete waste of time and money, lets all concentrate our efforts on getting this great old club back where it belongs and stop getting sidetracked by trivial pursuits.l know some will shout me down but in my opinion women,s sporting prowess is not with a football.

I disagree Noddy. I grew up in a time when girls only played netball and football was a lads game. However, women have come a long way in many sports since those days. Of course they are not as strong and fast as men, but they can still play a decent game of football. Have you watched the Women's World Cup of Soccer ? Female teams from Brazil, USA, Germany, etc could give some men's teams a good game. They play nice football.
I have grand daughters and a great grand daughter that have played football. They enjoy it and get stuck in. Open your mind to women's football. It is a slightly different game to the men's but is still enjoyable, both for the girls playing it and the spectators.
If girls want to play football and are prepared to put the effort in, good luck to them. We ought to support them in that effort.

Waste of time? That's a bit harsh don't you think? I'm guessing you grew up in a time when women were oppressed and their only job was to cook for you and clean your scruds? Out of interest, do you play any sports professionally?
