Simon Garner: Venky's must keep talking to the fans

Simon Garner: Venky's must keep talking to the fans

IT is good to see that Venky’s have written an open letter to Blackburn Rovers supporters.

It is, however, long overdue and now they must continue to communicate with the fans.

We are not a Manchester United, a Manchester City or a Liverpool, who also have owners who live halfway around the world.

We are Blackburn Rovers, a town club which is rooted in the community.

Our supporters want to be involved, they want to hear from their owners.

For as long as I played at the club the fans were always kept up to date with what was going on and, with a club of Blackburn’s size, that’s what you need.

So the letter is a start.

It doesn’t cover everything but I think it does show Venky’s have realised they have made major mistakes, at the top level, over the last few years.

They have employed the wrong people but you cannot say that about their employment of Gary Bowyer.

It was good to see them backing him in the letter but, then again, they couldn’t have done anything but back him.

As I’ve said week in, week out this season he has been tremendous and I think it will be good of the owners if Gary asks them to bring a few players in, that they will turn around and say ‘go for it’.

Venky’s have got to turn around and say, ‘you’re doing a great job and we’ll back you in the transfer market as long as it’s not silly money’.

The squad only needs a bit of tweaking. But it’s important we strengthen because, with Financial Fair Play coming in, we need to – and sooner rather than later.

If Venky’s do that hopefully it will mend more bridges – bridges that are going to take a long, long time to be repaired.

And who knows? It may get more supporters back into the football ground.

But it is not going to happen overnight – too much has happened for that to be the case.

At last Venky’s have listened to what the fans are saying and have responded by communicating with them.

But they’ve got to carry it on now and continue to be open with the supporters.

Sorry Mr Garner but I think wishful thinking there - nothing wrong with it mind.

I see the Trust also trying to get some credit in for themselves like they have anything to do with the apology. This was Alan Myers advising the owners to try and get some of the fans back to Ewood on the back of an encouraging season under GB. Nothing more.

Its welcome. It was needed but to expect any more from them is as unlikely as them giving out the gory agent deal details.

You can ask and there's no harm but its unlikely you will receive. Far better chance that they fluff this apology by opening their mouths more as in the past.

Also, the true Rovers fans who were disenchanted by the circus pre- GB's appointment will likely start returning next season but the glory hunters and those with their heels firmly dug in because they hate the Indian ownership will not regardless of whatever actions they take to repair the damage they caused.

The VERMIN in India have brought our once proud club to it's knees, and I for one will NEVER forget, or forgive. They have told lie after lie after lie, and I find it incredible that some people are still willing to give them the time of day.

These scoundrels have destroyed one of England's most famous clubs, and I don't think we will ever fully recover.

The VERMIN in India are beneath contempt, and I wouldn't p*ss on them if they were on fire.

Yet it was vermin agents who set them up, walked away with millions and left them to face the music. But your hatred doesn't seem to extend to them in the same way it does to the owners, who are still here reassuring the fans as things improve.

A bad mistake to define out reasonable anger as mere racism. That is what the snake himself was allowed to get away with in his infamous Sky (non) interview..Darker forces, indeed!

What nonsense! You know as well as everyone else if Venky's walk away there will be no-one to buy the club. Just look at Newcastle an example of what happens when fans turn on their owners.

If they do go, how do you expect the club to be run? how will it be financed? how do you attract (if at all possible) new players?

No-good fans like you also have a part to play in BRFC's downfall and the reason why those Dingles are up. GET BEHIND THE TEAM!

Just as the word "homophobia" was conjured up in the 1960s we could do with a word that describes the condition of being afraid to comment on certain issues for fear of being labelled or suggested as being racist. Is that not one of the reasons for the Rochdale grooming case failure, and others? It was painfully evident in the attacks on the very early fan protests in the Post Allardyce era.

Is it reasonable hate though LV?

Everyone knows Venkys were complicit fools who got taken for a ride by greedy agents, thats not a defence of their naivety that led to our demise in any way, but at least they're still here reassuring the fans of continued support and now an apology of sorts which you can take or leave.

Those greedy agents and that baldy took us for millions. But all you hear from some is the hatred for Venkys. It does make me wonder.

Racistphobia?

You're honestly not going to tell me it doesn't exist? I used to sit in a popular drink hole not too far from Ewood and you probably won't be surprised the ignorant comments I had to shut my ears to. Unsurprisingly the fact that Venkys are hindu makes no difference to the hate filled ignorants whose comments often contain the "P" word, undeterred by the fact its a different country and a different culture and religion.

The only encouraging thing is, at least by the gates it appears these people are very much un their minority and intelligence appears still to prevail.

But It does exist. And some of the comments made often appear to reek of it.

And your opinion matters to who exactly?

I suppose you are one of those extremely lucky people who has never made a serious error in his life, but if you have done how would you react to being called vermin?

I would hazard a guess that you have never told a lie in your life as well, if only the rest of us were so perfect.

Especially if you weren't in any position to defend yourself, facing physical and verbal abuse everytime you turned up at a football club you owned in an alien country, all the time not really understanding why.

You, probably for reasons not necessarily associated with football, have deserted the club, our much maligned owners for whatever unfathomable reason are still backing us, because in their position and have to face such racist crap from people like you I would have pulled the plug on the club two years ago.

They aren't vermin, just human beings who have made some terrible decisions about a football club they probably didn't know existed a few years ago.

Nobody has died.

At least they appear to be attempting to atone for their errors not wallowing in fleeting memories of past "glories" while knocking every effort being made to put things right.

Amazing to see so many supporters and fans still care for the club, even after a disastrous regime under venkys. Past is past, nothing can be changed. Everyone make mistakes, but may be they wanted to learn the hard way. An apology from owners just may be the beginning of them communicating with us this season. More to see more talking and actions need to be done They have learnt from their mistakes and now may be know whom to trust and take advise from.It does not get worse than this does it?

The team is well built by Gary now,so there will be lot of positive vibes.Ewood park will be known what it was famous for, need to allow their results and fan atmosphere do the work. If we can have few quality additions and the waste dump out the season will be perfectly set.
Cmon rover's, show the world where we belong and everything will fall In place.
I am backing the team, owners, staff but how many of you do rather than living the past?

Yes, Yes, I know
"Oxford Town, Oxford Town
Everybody's got their head bowed down.."
But it is not either or though, is it. Racism is alive and well AND Venky's have fronted and covered up, while a valued community asset has been dismantled, pillaged and robbed blind..by (other )abusers. Venky's have never bothered to explain some very suspicious transfer dealings that were never in the interests of the actual club. Therefore I don't agree that they should be re-defined as as innocent victims here. That doesn't excuse Agnew Anderson and Kean- even sounds like a firm of dodgy solicitors!

They have NEVER been innocent victims. The whole lot of them who dumped Allardyce and Williams piddled in the same pot of greed and vanity. I can see FR, Owd Nick, Morst and Greenscreener all smiling on the great day Big Sam was hatcheted. Remember the Bhatti Armageddon at Wolves! Be on your guard! Like patriotism, racism can be the last refuge of a scoundrel! Up Rovers!!!
