IT’S a great accolade for Rudy Gestede to be named the Championship’s player of the month.

He’s done really well in April, scoring lots of goals, but it’s the way he has got better and better and stronger and stronger throughout the season that has really impressed me.

He’s turned into a real asset for the club.

Like the rest of the team he works really hard and I can only see him improving further.

But while Rudy was rightly nominated for the player award, I think Gary Bowyer can count himself very unlucky not to have been in the running for the manager award.

He put a great run of results together last month and I imagine the only reason he was not nominated was that Rovers did not manage to get into the play-offs by the end of it.

But I don’t just think Gary has had a great month, he’s had a great season too.

The longer the season has gone on the better his team has become and whenever I see Rovers they always look like they are getting closer to the way he wants them to play.

Now if he can keep the squad together this summer, and hopefully improve it, there is no reason why they can’t start next season well. It’s just a shame that this season is coming to an end – and I’m sure Gary is thinking exactly the same.

If Rovers had another half a dozen games I’m sure they’d be right up there in the play-offs given the way they are going at the minute.

I thought they played well at Charlton on Saturday.

They scored three goals, worked hard, which they had to do against a side fighting for their lives, and overall it was a great result.

It’s just a shame that results elsewhere didn’t go their way.

And the one at Birmingham on Tuesday has realistically put paid to our chances of getting into the play-offs. Yes there is still a chance but it’s an extremely long shot.

All Rovers can do tomorrow is go out and beat Wigan and finish the season on a high.

What a laugh.

A full season, brings in 21 players, loses to Burnley, and can't get you above 8th place!

Keep up the good work Agent B.

It's simple really, Gary Bowyer deserves a lot of credit for turning around a club that was in chaotic free fall.

Was at Charlton Saturday and there is a noticeable confidence in the team . Like Gestede and also think Rhodes would be best advised to stay with Rovers as his career could well go downhill should he leave for where grass is greener ! Lol

His career is already going down hill faster than Franz Klammer while he's at No-dad FC.

He'll be out of the Ewood and Bucket comedy club by September.

Totally agree but I have in the back of my mind what Northampton Town, Wrexham and Kidderminster Harriers have all done this year after last years near misses. I am sure Bowyer is the man to legislate for that.
