Rovers owners Venky's not at Yeovil match
BLACKBURN Rovers’ owners Venky’s did not attend the 0-0 home draw with Yeovil Town.
Balaji and Venkatesh Rao were present at Ewood Park 24 hours earlier for a civic reception for the Queen.
But they not return to the ground to see Rovers miss the chance to move within two points of the Championship play-offs.
It is understood that the Rao brothers and their fellow directors of Venky’s London Limited – their sister Anuradha Desai and her husband Jitendra Desai – have taken the decision to stay away from Ewood this season in order not to distract attention away from the club’s bid to finish in the top six.
The last time Venky’s publically appeared at a Rovers home match, against Charlton Athletic on January 19, 2013, Jitendra Desai was hit in the face by a snowball thrown by a fan as he made his way into the ground with his wife.
Venky’s London Limited bought a 99.9 per cent stake in Rovers in November 2010.
At the time the club was 14th in the Premier League.
Today Rovers are 10th in the Championship, four points off the play-off positions.
