FIRST-TEAM duo Bryan Dabo and Jake Kean made costly late mistakes as Blackburn Rovers lost their Lancashire FA Senior Cup quarter-final 2-1 to Bury at Brockhall, denying them the chance to face rivals Burnley at Turf Moor in the last four.

Dabo, not for the first time in the game, gave the ball away in midfield and, after the Shakers broke out, his blunder was compounded by goalkeeper Kean, who let Temitope Obadeyi’s shot slip through his fingers and into the net.

Rovers dominated the first half and missed a penalty through Dean Rittenberg.

But they fell behind in the 56th minute after Markus Olsson’s poor back pass led to Kean giving away a corner, from which Richard Hinds headed home.

Olsson atoned for his error in the 72nd minute when he raced on to a Rittenberg pass and, without breaking stride, fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Dabo and - at the other end - Navid Nesseri wasted good chances to win it before Obadeyi did just that in injury-time with the help of Kean and Dabo. Josh King played 61 minutes for Rovers, whose interest in the competition now ends.

Instead it will be Bury taking on Burnley in the semi-finals.
