JORDAN Rhodes scored his 50th goal for Blackburn Rovers last night but it was not enough to earn a vital and deserved victory over fellow play-off hopefuls Brighton and Hove Albion.

Rhodes brought up the major milestone in the 86th minute when he converted Rovers’ first penalty at Ewood Park this season.

But two minutes later substitute Dale Stephens scored to earn the Seagulls a 3-3 draw. The result leaves Rovers 11th in the Championship table and seven points off the top six with seven games to play – the first of which comes at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Brighton had opened the scoring in the 17th minute through David Rodriguez and restored parity in the through Gordon Greer after the returning Tom Cairney and Rhodes had put Rovers in front.

Boss Gary Bowyer said: “It’s really disappointing to have scored three goals and not won the game.”
