BLACKBURN Rovers will be out for revenge against Brighton & Hove Albion tonight in a match neither side can afford to lose.

That is the view of Rovers left back Tommy Spurr ahead of the Ewood Park clash between the play-off hopefuls.

Thanks to an inspired performance from goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak the Seagulls ran out 3-0 winners in November’s reverse fixture between the teams and they go into tonight’s encounter four points above Gary Bowyer’s men.

Spurr said: “Brighton are a good side and down at their place we didn’t do ourselves justice in the first half.

“But we had a lot of chances, had 20-odd shots and their keeper was man of the match.

“It was one those games so we owe them one a bit. Like I said after our draw at Watford last week, we’ve got nothing to lose now, so we’ve just got to go into it looking to win it.

“But they also need to win it so it should be a good game to watch and for us to play in.”

Rovers’ 2-2 draw Millwall on Saturday extended their unbeaten run to four matches but they remain eight points behind the top six and Spurr admits there is a frustration among the players that they are not closer to the play-offs.

He said: “If you ask the lads how they feel everyone would say what a good set of lads we’ve got and what a good atmosphere it is within the changing room.

“The longer we play together the better we will become but it is a little bit frustrating as it feels we’re not far away from actually being one of the top sides in this league.

“People may say that is a bit bold but with the players we’ve got we feel we can be up there.”
