Bolton Wanderers move in for Leeds United defender Lee Peltier after Nottingham Forest let-down

This Is Lancashire: Lee Peltier - Reebok bound? Lee Peltier - Reebok bound?

WANDERERS were last night poised to complete the loan capture of Leeds United defender Lee Peltier.

Dougie Freedman had the former Leicester City man dropped in his lap on Monday night after his move to Nottingham Forest collapsed.

Neil Warnock had lined the 27-year-old up as his first signing at the City Ground as he prepared to succeed the sacked Billy Davies.

But when Warnock failed to agree terms with Forest’s owners, Peltier instructed his representatives to find a new club rather than return to Elland Road, although Leeds last night threw the whole issue into confusion by insisting he was a Forest player until the end of the season.

Freedman was looking into the deal yesterday knowing he must complete all his loan business before tomorrow’s 5pm deadline.

Alex Baptiste missed last night’s 1-0 victory over Blackpool through suspension but is available for the weekend.

Alan Hutton is due to play his last game against Wigan Athletic on Saturday before returning to Aston Villa, although Freedman has not ruled out extending the Scot’s loan.

Peltier is primarily a right-back and played 45 minutes for Leeds against Wanderers in their 5-1 rout at Elland Road a few weeks ago.

Although Leeds were only a goal down at the break, Peltier was jeered by some sections of the home support before being withdrawn by manager Brian McDermott. And that remains his last appearance for the troubled Yorkshire club.

Peltier has a wealth of Championship experience and has been linked with a move to the Reebok once before, with rumours going round last summer that Leeds were trying to use him in a swap deal for Matt Mills.
