BLACKBURN Rovers boss Gary Bowyer believes his side can spring a surprise and end table-topping Leicester’s 16-match unbeaten run tomorrow.

Bowyer has hailed Nigel Pearson’s men as the 'most complete team in the Championship' ahead of the big Ewood Park encounter.

But he has backed Rovers to have a ‘right good go’ at becoming the first side to claim their scalp since they went down 3-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion on December 7.

Bowyer said: “It’s going to be a great test for us and one we’re really looking forward to. They are the most complete team in the Championship.

“But that is not going to stop us from having a right good go at them.

“It’s an opportunity to test ourselves against the best – and they are the best.

“They’ve got two top strikers in David Nugent and Jamie Vardy, they’ve got quality out wide in their two French lads and Lloyd Dyer, they’ve got top midfielders in Matty James and Danny Drinkwater, who has been fantastic this season, and they’ve got a goalkeeper who launches attacks with the missiles he throws down your throat and a back-four that is solid.”

Bowyer is equally as glowing about Leicester’s manager Pearson.

He reckons the 50-year-old deserves massive praise for turning the Foxes from a mid-table outfit with an inflated wage bill into one that is on the verge of sealing promotion back to the Premier League – a task Bowyer is trying to emulate at Rovers.

“Nigel Pearson is a top bloke and I’m delighted for him," said Bowyer.

“I know him well, as I did my coaching badges with him back in 1999-2000, and I think he’s proof of what stability brings you.

“I think this is his third season there, he’s had to contend with Financial Fair Play this season and players being out of contract, but he hasn’t let that distract him, he’s just got on with the job of building a very good team.”

Rovers will be boosted by the return of Josh King from injury tomorrow after the winger sat out the last six matches with a hamstring problem.

Bowyer is hopeful that midfielder Jason Lowe and striker Rudy Gestede will recover from the knocks they sustained in last Saturday’s 4-2 win at Huddersfield Town – while Grant Hanley could also come into consideration.

Bowyer said: “Grant Hanley is doing ever so well, so he might be in contention, Jason Lowe should be in contention, and Rudy, after being groggy at the start of the week, has trained and looked fine, so we’re hopeful.”

But tomorrow’s clash will too soon for Tom Cairney and fellow midfielder Dickson Etuhu.
