Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede given all clear after injury scare

BLACKBURN Rovers striker Rudy Gestede has been given the all clear after he was knocked unconscious in today's 4-2 win at Huddersfield Town.

Gestede spent several minutes prone on the floor following an aerial challenge with Terriers captain Peter Clarke before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.

But Rovers boss Bowyer has confirmed this evening that Gestede has done no serious damage.

Bowyer, who also lost Jason Lowe to an ankle injury which required the midfielder to leave the ground wearing a protective boot, said: “Rudy is out of hospital and all the scans are clear, which is great news.”

After the match, which saw Rovers end their three-game losing run, Bowyer was quick to praise fourth official Ross Joyce for spotting the incident.

Bowyer said: “I have to say that the fourth official was absolutely outstanding because the referee had missed it and the fourth official hadn't.

“He acted quickly and we’ve got to thank him for that because he helped us massively to get Dave Fevre and the doc on quickly.”

Good to hear your player is going to be ok. No-one likes to see any player from any team seriously injured - it is only a game in the end.

Great to hear, I wasn't there but my heart sank when I picked the news up during the game.

Typical Rovers luck though, all season I and several others have been saying that Lowe is our best option at right back, GB finally plays him there and in the blink of an eye we have yet another ankle injury on our hands.

YCMIU.

Listened to Radio Lancs after game at the Turf. The Gestede injury sounded truly sickening. Delighted to read the good news. You guys need to do a Stan Ternent. Get to 54 points, safety, and build from there. There's no earthly reason why you can grab 5th or 6th. Get a run going (started at Huddersfield?), focus work hard.

thank god for that....the lad went down like a sack of spuds.....i must admit i feared the worse, i hope JL is ok...midfielders are becoming a bit thin on the ground.

it was worth making the trip up the M62 even though it was a pain to get back on it after the game....but the lads did good, it wasn't the prettiest of games and i think the score line flattered us a bit, but i'll take three points any way you polish it..

i think GB needs to look at away of letting JR play up front on his own but with someone there to give the lad a lift when needed....he (JR) seemed to relish being the lone striker after RG went off....after all he did bag two of his three as a lone man...

i did think when Huddersfield changed their formation to in the first half we struggled a bit, Gary needs to react quicker and change our formation to suit...

all in all....well worth the trip....well done wages well earned

Football certainly is a game of opinions. Before Gestede came it was give JR a partner, now it is let JR play on his own up front! If only fans were managers!

If anyone knew much about mid table mediocrity it would be him. He has plenty of experience of that.

Indeed. Too many "best elevens" and too much tactical advice appears on these pages. It is down to GB and in the final analysis it is the result that counts above all else. If the long ball ball up to Rudy results in a knock down and Rhodes gets on the end to shoot home, then that will do me. If Conway does an Eddie Gray v Burnley and beats seven players before scoring, then that will do me. If we string together 30 odd passes like Leeds v Southampton before scoring, then that will do me. Rovers and victory uber alles.

A Rovers fan mate of mine who went to Huddersfield said it looked 'sickening'. No-one want to see anyone seriously injured even if you are our rivals.

If you prefer a comments section with no opinions I understand there are some nice quiet pages devoted to Burnley that might fit the bill.

And they could always do with some hot air during the balloon flights over the Trough of Bowland.
