Blackburn Rovers to assess Grant Hanley hamstring injury

This Is Lancashire: Grant Hanley Grant Hanley

BLACKBURN Rovers will assess the extent of Grant Hanley's injury after their captain was forced to come off in the latter stages of last night's desperately disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Bournemouth with a hamstring problem.

The Scotland international, who only returned to Gary Bowyer's starting line-up for Sunday's derby loss to Burnley after recovering from a calf strain, was substituted with 15 minutes remaining.

Rovers boss Bowyer said: "We’re hoping it’s not as bad as people first think when he limps off with a hamstring."

WHO DIDNT SEE THAT COMING!? 2 center backs and 2 strikers. Surely non of those 4 players would get injured.
Bowyers questions to the squad must be:

Are you willing to close down an opponent?
Will you try to beat a man?
Will you turn and run into space?

Yes? Then get out. Side passes and standing off is the only way to win games.

Bowyer should step down because Venkys will stick with the cheap option yet again even when the whole stadium is chanting for him out.

This could be you lot going down. You're still some way from safety and failure to beat Huddersfield away on Saturday could be the beginning of the end for your shambles of a club.

God help you when that transfer embargo comes into play next season, you are well and truly donald ducked!

Actually agree with your post. We are not safe and given the influx of journeymen we have signed and players who do not give a monkeys about the club safety is not a given. Huiddersfield, watford leicester brighton all to come soon - I'm not seeing a great points return!

varney, feeney, williamson, taylor, ALL ABSOLUTE DIRE!!! (and thats only a select few) Rochina is in a completely different league to this lot, and even Judge must be wondering why he didnt get more games!

People question why Rhodes has stopped scoring - the answer is simple - PASS, MOVE, PASS, MOVE CREATE AN OPENING HAVE AN ATTEMPT ON GOAL. We break down after step one - or as soon as any of the above touches the ball! Huddersfield will destroy us, players like Wells Clayton and Vaughan will dance through our 'defence'.

I can see the line up now for this MUST WIN game. Lowe and Williamson both in - Rhodes isolated upfront against 2 6FT 3" Centre backs. Cairney injured, Conway (who I have been impressed with) will try his best but at 65/70 mins Bowyer will bring on an over wieght Millwall winger to try and carve out an equaliser and take him off.

last night was a complete shambles, and whilst it takes the team 3 minutes to reach the opposition penalty area nothing will improve!

When are you simpletons going to learn, Gary Bowyer is not a manager, he is not an assistant manager, he is not a first team coach. He IS a youth team coach and nothing more. So why don't you stop kidding yourselves, send him back in with the youth team and recruit yourselves a decent manager, or a manager of any kind, because with Gaz in charge you are CLEARLY destined for mid-table obscurity at best. Dare I suggest Venky's might consider giving Shebby Singh a shot at the job? If recent reports are to be believed Singh, who is still officially employed by Blackburn Rovers to the tune of £800,000 a year, has been obtaining his UEFA coaching badges whilst on an extended leave of absence. Let's face it he couldn't do much worse than Bowyer.

Rovers need to assess the almost insurmountable injury they inflicted on the faith of the fans last night, hamstrings are much easier to repair.

I can't remember the last time I felt so low as a Rovers fan as I did last night, Bournemouth must have felt they were playing 10 dustbins Rovers really were that awful.

How on earth Bournemouth didn't score 6, I just don't understand, they were leagues ahead of us in every department, their keeper didn't have one serious save to make in the entire game.

And I don't want to hear any platitudes from Bowyer or the players about how gutted they are; gutted? They don't know the meaning of the word, apart from Conway the rest of the players on the pitch last night were a total disgrace to the shirt.

Message to Bowyer and Shaw, I have stuck with this tripe for so long because I am a real fan but even my patience isn't going to last much longer.

Ok i'm now anti Bowyer. I've tried to remember how close we came to relegation last year and how much better things are this season. For example we're talking play offs instead of league 1. And i have sympathies for Bowyer regarding the injury list. i.e Cainey, Marshall, Killa. But i can't understand his tactics? I can't understand his subs? I can't understand his touchline gestures? For example, we don't have to pass it backwards to progress forwards, its not Rugby! That long ball up to Rhodes doesn't work. Think i noticed it worked once out of many attempts. Why are the two central midfielders so deep? Surely we only need one holding midfielder? Why does he clap the players? Last night he was stood clapping and all i could think was have i missed something? Rudy looked lively and deserved to stay on the full 90 mins. At 1-0 down surely you have to realize that your tactics aren’t working and you change it, not the personnel the tactics. All Bowyer did was swap like for like. There was a point made earlier that we have only ever had coaches for managers, i think i'd agree with that, We need a manager in place, a tactician.

Replace Bowyer? With who? There's no money to spend, we've got a transfer embargo looming and there's still players on 30k+ a week who need to be pushed out of the door and let's not start on the owners. Which successful, experienced, self respecting manager do you want to take Bowyers place? I'll give you all a clue....nobody who has a clue will take the job! Malky Makay would fall about laughing if you approached him, I reckon he's had his fill of crackpot owners. And for everyone slating Bowyer's signings, let's go over it again...THERE'S NO MONEY!!! Who do you expect him to sign with no money? Iniesta? Messi? Try going to a Ferrari dealership and asking for a free car and you might start to get some idea. Sorry lads but that's the top and bottom of it, we are where we are. It's put up or shut up. I've lost patience with Bowyer aswell but it's tough sh1t as far as I can see

Sean Dyche signed Tom Heaton, Scott Arfield, and David Jones. You don't need money to succeed if you know what you're doing.

Thats the trouble with you no-dads, brought up on the pocket money of a senile old man, you got above your station thinking you would always be able to throw good money after bad. You are now, quite rightly, getting exactly what you deserve, and by that I mean, the "owners" you deserve, the "manager" you deserve, and the financial punishment you deserve.

You brought this all on yourselves.

Even Steve Kean wouldn't touch this job, you've got no chance of anyone with any self respect coming to bail you clowns out now. Having 6 (SIX) managers in a single season is a disgrace. You're a laughingstock.

You are either stuck with Bowyer, or Venky's ask Colin Hendry to step up, or perhaps the barrel-chested, medallion-wearing party animal Balaji Rao will have a crack at it himself, now that would be a treat.

Well if you could stop acting like the complete and utter tool that you are for a minute or two, you might see that is Exactly the point I'm trying to make, we're a team of freebies and loans, which most of our supporters refer to as 'journeymen' and 'freeloaders' ect ect ect. If our boo boys stopped moaning and had a look at the bigger picture they would see that we are in a similar position to you lot last season. Mid table, no money, still building with a manager in his first full season. With a bit of patience look where you are this season. Granted you don't have the debt we have but sacking Bowyer now before he's finished building his team of freebies would be a step backwards. Another manager would have to come in and start building HIS own squad (still with no money) and if he didn't achieve instant success the boo boys would have him out aswell. I personally want off the managerial roundabout

Fair enough but Bowyer is obviously the man that your owners have tasked with the rebuilding job since they have allowed him to bring in 19 players. The preparation for the transfer embargo is nearing completion with only the sale of your higher earning players and those likely to be in demand (Rhodes, Hanley, Cairney) to go at the end of the season. Bowyer has recently brought in Varney, Keane and Feeney, who look to be the long term, cheaper alternatives to the three who are likely to depart.

To believe, as some of you still do, that a complete overhaul is going to happen now is nonsense, it's already happened. The question is can Bowyer turn around the team that he has now built himself. I don't think he can. Your recent defeats have had a sense of inevitability about them, for some reason Bowyer cannot motivate his players and that is a real concern when next season you are prevented from freshening things up.

If you lose to Huddersfield on Saturday I can see a very uncomfortable end to the season for you, for a team like Blackburn with its confidence shot to pieces to drop into that bottom group of teams would be a disaster waiting to happen. You can still go down yet.

a bit harsh SC, but there is some truth in there....as for scabby minge....not a chance.

it's refreshing a Burnley fan giving some constructive comments albeit with a double edged sword....i do think GB would make a good assistant manager...but as a manager he can't seem to get the best out of the players he signs.

Sorry lads but that's the top and bottom of it, we are where we are. It's put up or shut up. I've lost patience with Bowyer aswell but it's tough sh1t as far as I can see
"THERE'S NO MONEY!!! Who do you expect him to sign with no money? Iniesta? Messi? "

Wouldn't mind a decent conversation with you but as you resort to insults all the time I will give it a pass, thanks.

Behave like a moron you get treated like one.
Old Nick.....It's WLUV. He's also on here today as Gary Stockton and
M. Danny which I believe is his real name.

Apologies I didn't pick the linguistic DNA until I had pressed "post comment".

Then do we go for Administration, Bankruptcy, or Liquidation? Which would be your preference?
were heading for one of them now numb nuts
This is the problem with trying to converse with the commercially and financially illiterate. You make sweeping statements like " Venkys Out" without even considering what that actually means. So actually, number nuts, it makes no sense at all!!!!!! If you don't get this, go and ask an eleven year old to explain it to you.

I have also been an advocate of Souness but how are we going to attract a manager when tVenkys are being urged to pull out and leave the club in administration or liquidation?
