JORDAN Rhodes is happy to let the longest dry spell of his prolific Blackburn Rovers career continue if it means beating Burnley in tomorrow's East Lancashire derby.

The Scotland international striker goes into the big Ewood Park encounter on a barren run of nine matches without a goal.

Rhodes would willingly accept another fluke like the one he scored to earn Rovers a draw in September’s reverse clash at Turf Moor if that is what it takes to get back on the goal trial.

But the 24-year-old would have no problem at going a 10th game without hitting the net as long as Rovers get the better of their rivals.

“The goal at their place (earlier this season) was one of my favourites to be honest, it was nice to see it go off my shinpad and loop over the keeper,” said Rhodes, who has scored 44 goals in 82 appearances for Rovers since his club record £8m move from Huddersfield Town in August 2012.

“I’d take another one of them on Sunday. It’d be nice but it’s more about the team and as long as we win on Sunday that’s all that matters.”

Rhodes is Rovers’ top scorer this season with 16 goals in 34 matches.

But he has not netted since the 2-1 win at Leeds United on New Year’s Day.

Rhodes said: “You can’t too caught up when things are going well and you can’t get too down when things aren’t particularly going too well.

“As long as we’re picking up wins and picking up points I’m in no position to complain.”

Rhodes captained Rovers in last Saturday’s defeat at Bolton Wanderers after skipper Grant Hanley was ruled out with a calf strain.

And he admits extending Rovers’ 35-year unbeaten run over Burnley to 12 matches would certainly help erase the memories of the 4-0 loss at the Reebok Stadium.

“I know we’ve got plenty of midweek games coming up but it would have been nice to have had one and put things right and had a little bit of extra confidence going into Sunday’s game,” said Rhodes, who marked his East Lancashire derby debut with a goal as Rovers drew 1-1 at Turf Moor last season.

“But what better way to put things right than by winning the Burnley game.

“It would be fantastic to win, especially at home with our crowd behind us, but Burnley are doing very well this season and it’s going to be a tough game in all aspects of it.”
