BLACKBURN Rovers have signed young Manchester United centre-back Micheal Keane on loan until the end of the season.

With Rovers having injury concerns over their two sole senior centre-backs Grant Hanley and Matt Kilgallon, Keane could make his debut in Sunday's East Lancashire derby at home to Burnley.

The England U21s international, 21, has had experience of the Championship having previously enjoyed loan spells at Derby County and Leicester City.

Keane told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to finally join. It has been a rumour for a while now so I'm just glad to get it all sorted.

"I've got a bit of experience now in the Championship and I know what it takes to play well in these games so I'm looking to play well on Sunday and hit the ground running and keep that form up.

"I'm sure it will be a tough game but I'm confident we can get a result. I'm really looking forward to it. I hope it is my debut and I'll make sure I'm ready to do well."

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: "He is highly sought-after, an England international at U21s level.

"He has had a good education with Manchester United and he has got experience already in the Championship with his time on loan at Leicester and Derby - two top clubs.

"We are delighted to have been able to secure his services until the end of the season."

Young striker Jordan Preston, meanwhile, has signed for non-league neighbours Clitheroe on a month’s loan.

As proven against Nottingham Forest and Derby you mean?

Or is it our forthcoming games against Birmingham, Charlton and Doncaster that will seriously derail our promotion bid? Could you be any more jealous or desperate?

We have beaten anyone who has challenged us for that 2nd spot this season. QPR were recently 3 points above us, Oh how you laughed, you loved seeing "the wheels come off", and moved your attention to Derby who would drag us even further down.

Where are QPR now? 9 points and 14 goals behind us.
Where are Derby now? 5 points and 8 goals behind us.
Where are Blackburn? 20 points and 27 goals behind us.

Blackburn Rovers are simply standing in the way of another 3 points. That is the aim. I don't see you being able to handle us on the day. There will be too much pressure to keep us out and I believe Bowyer will set you up to try and stop us so as not to be the manager who lost your 34 year (9 league games unbeaten) comedy record, because he knows that it's all you have left.

The trouble here is dropping a 21 year old with only 4 championship games under his belt this season into the derby to face the country's leading strike force, this could be a recipe for disaster. I can only think Bowyer has brought him in as cover and that your first choice defensive pairing are nearing full fitness, if not it's going to be a stressful first outing for young Keane.

Its all set up very nicely isnt it, our high flying neighbours needing to come and attack and us, underdogs who have been 'almost there' all season, but havent quite got the big result we need.
A lot more pressure on them than us...I like it that way.
20 points clear of us and yet two results can mean we'd both be in the play offs despite the 20 point gap...imagine how disappointing that would be, if you were Burnley :)

Pitty the lad will only have had a couple of days to train with the boys though Should be good cover for the rest of the season if it is not too late for a play off push already.

They won't be disappointed as this is their cup final but the one who makes most noise won't be there. To some on here this is their best season ever so to them that is 'success'. Older dingles know better and remember when they 'did' have a successful side over 50 years ago.

Getting your excuses in early are we? I can just imagine some of you simpletons if we beat you.

"Ah yes, but you had to borrow players from the PL to beat us, so it doesn't count". It will fit in well with all your other excuses, why it's been 35 years since your last victory. Some other classic excuses from the idiotic Burnley fans over the years include: The JW years didn't count because it wasn't fair. The ten years after he died didn't count either, because he left us a trust fund. The 5-0 April Fools Day massacre didn't count, because we'd just come down from the PL, etc etc.

I still can't quite work out how JW's money was responsible for Burnley languishing in the third and FOURTH divisions for years on end. How does that one work then, fools?

"as long as Hanleys fit, we'll be fine." But what if he's not fit?

"A lot more pressure on them than us". I disagree, you are the home team with only your record against us (embarrassing though it is for you to claim 9 league games without defeat as some sort of incredible record) to protect.

You cannot afford to lose at any cost, as seen by your relief in the recent derby games where we have been robbed of two wins by diabolical Blackburn cheating. Pole-axing Danny Ings when through on goals, offside equaliser, etc.

The pressure you will put your players under to win will be immense, Burnley simply need to show up and play their own game, which is free-flowing, fast-paced attacking football, getting the ball forward to the two best strikers in the Championship.

If you thought you had a bad day against Bolton then you could be in for more of the same if Burnley get an early goal.

I do admire your confidence but I see through it, you are more worried about this derby game then you have been in many, many years, and that's understandable.

The 20 point gap is there for a reason, we have been consistently BETTER than Blackburn all season, and given that you have lost ONE THIRD of your games this season I see us taking the points and moving closer to automatic promotion.

Hopefully it will be a good game too.

I'm loving these one-liner's, keep em coming!

A 21 year old loanee with FOUR Championship games under his belt all season is going to be thrown into the derby with Burnley and have the leagues best strike partnership, IN HIS POCKET!

42 goals between them, Vokes being the current player of the month with 8 goals in the last 10 games, but Keane is the man eh.

Seriously mate, you're a credit to the no-dads keep it up.

"Hopefully it will be a good game " about time as that its what its about at the end of the day
I'll be over here in OZ with a few Rovers and Clarets fans getting juiced up before the game. It will be 1/2 8 at night at kick off so we're all looking forward to a great night and have been for weeks .Whatever the result we'll still enjoy a laugh. Perhaps you should all remember that at the end of the day. Some of the comments are ridiculous (both sides)

Just one small teeny weeny almost insignificant point:

Keane is not Jones

And Ings and Vokes aren't Drogba

Aside from that you are 100% correct.

well for the first time in a long time we go into this game as under dogs - we have a shaky defence, an inconsistent midfield and our strikers have stopped scoring....we've got as much chance of winning as the liklihood of the most frequent poster on the LET Blackburn forums not being liklihood lookupblackburn and his multiple profiles...

there's no pressure on us at all on sunday - we're not in the running for promotion or relegation. IF we do get a result then it will be against all the odds - as some keep pointing how dominant Burnley are, how many points ahead they are, how they can take the pressure of the big games etc etc

all I can say is...Lee Williamson took a dive, took a dive, Lee Williamson took a dive...he hates Burnley!

What part of - if we dont play you that season it doesnt count.

I said your problem will be holding on to your league position
not what you have done so far this season
you have won nothing yet you have 13 games to play
Blackburn are just one team that will try to stop burnley
from now till the end of the season getting promoted

Its all set up very nicely isnt it, our high flying neighbours needing to come and attack and us, underdogs who have been 'almost there' all season, but havent quite got the big result we need.
A lot more pressure on them than us...I like it that way.
20 points clear of us and yet two results can mean we'd both be in the play offs despite the 20 point gap...imagine how disappointing that would be, if you were Burnley :)
