BLACKBURN Rovers did not comment last night on reports that top scorer Jordan Rhodes is set to sign a new long-term contract with the club.

Talks over a new deal for the prolific striker, however, have taken place.

Rhodes has scored 16 goals this season and 44 in 82 appearances for Rovers since his club record £8m move from Huddersfield Town in August 2012.

But the 24-year-old, who has three years remaining on his current contract, has not scored in any of his last nine games going into Sunday’s visit of Burnley to Ewood Park.
