WANDERERS

4-4-2

ADAM BOGDAN...8

Stood up when his team needed him, making fine saves from Williamson and Rhodes. Looks more confident since his return.

ALEX BAPTISTE...7

Bust a gut to get up and down the right, and once again ended up the furthest man forward on occasion.

ZAT KNIGHT...7

Barring one slight mistake, kept Rhodes quiet and swept the ball around at the back like Franz Beckenbauer in his pomp.

DAVID WHEATER...7

Continues to look a player reborn since his return from injury. Very, very solid against a decent front line in Rhodes and Gestede.

TIM REAM...8

At this rate we’ll be considering the American a left back if he likes it or not. Got involved more on the ball and used his excellent distribution skills.

NEIL DANNS...9

Set the tone early on with a crunching tackle on Olsson and never let his effort levels drop for 90 minutes. Outstanding.

MEDO KAMARA...8

Made a very difficult finish look easy to open the scoring and pestered the Blackburn midfield throughout to win back so much possession. JAY SPEARING...9

Easily the best game Spearing has had since he returned to the Reebok for good. There wasn’t a blade of grass he didn’t cover.

MARK DAVIES...8

This was the Mark Davies we remember, buzzing around and carrying the ball in areas that can seriously hurt the opposition.

LUKAS JUTKIEWICZ...8

Just made everything look so simple. Unfair simply to call him a target man, even though that is massive factor he has added since his arrival.

JOE MASON...7

Missed one he had time to think about but took a tougher second chance without hesitation. Continues to gel well with Jutkiewicz.

Subs: Chung-Yong 76 (for Davies) – showed some classy touches late on 6 Moritz 84 (for Danns) – another great goal to add to the highlight reel 7 Trotter 86 (for Jutkiewicz) – didn’t really have time to get into the game 6 Not used: Lonergan, Hutton, Hall, Eagles.

STAR MAN: Jay Spearing We haven’t seen Spearing with the bit between his teeth quite like this since he turned last season’s loan move into a permanent one. Led by example – the captain was quite simply, fantastic on the day.
