CAGE warrior Jimmy Hey has thrown open the doors to a new martial arts club in Great Harwood.

Heys, who lives in the town, has enjoyed huge success at the numerous disciplines he has mastered since he began training as a mixed martial arts instructor fifteen years ago.

Heys also trains professional cage fighter Ian Entwistle, ranked in the world's top one hundred.

"I will be doing two levels of mixed martial arts and the classes will focus on the fundamentals of the sport, so everybody's welcome," he said.

"The classes would be ideal for beginners to develop their understanding of mixed martial arts, while the experienced students can keep sharp and in touch with their skills."

Heys has also trained in Russian wrestling (sambo)submission wrestling, ju Jitsu, kickboxing and boxing.

"There's also a women's fight fitness class, and using fighting drills is a fun way to achieve weight loss and improve fitness," he said.

Heys boasts a wrestling instructor qualification and a traditional ju jitsu black belt, and added: β€œI opened my first club, Accrington Shoot Jitsu four years ago, winning several belts and competitions.

β€œIt is a fantastic sport to be involved with and I want to encourage as many people as possible to get involved.”

Classes take place at the Apex Gym, Great Harwood. Info contact 07527 135358.
