Steve Kean set for first league fixture

This Is Lancashire: Steve Kean Steve Kean

STEVE Kean kicks off his managerial reign at Brunei club DPMM when they play their first game of the Singapore S-League season on Saturday.

Controversial former Blackburn Rovers boss Kean was appointed as DPMM’s new manager in October – 13 months after leaving his role at Ewood Park.

The Scot has signed a one-year contract with the Brunei outfit, who are the only club from the country to play in the Singapore League.

Kean watched from the stand as DPMM squandered a 2-0 lead against Geylang International in the final game of last season in November.

But he will officially take charge of his first league match at Albirex Niigata (Singapore) on Saturday.

Their opponents are a feeder club of Japanese club Albirex Niigata and have an all-Japanese squad.

DPMM are owned by the Crown Prince of Brunei, HRH Price Al-Muhtadee Billah.

The club play in the 30,000-capacity national stadium and finished eighth in the S-League last season.

They spent pre-season in Thailand, losing 2-0 to Phuket FC.

“I believe that Kean will be able to bring the team back on its feet this year and challenge for the title in the Singapore League,” captain Rosmin Hj Mohd Kamis told The Brunei Times.

“He used to coach in the English Premier League, which is one of the best football leagues in the world, and it is an honour for us to be able to train under him.”

Does this move to the Middle East prove that kean is and was always in it for the money? Or that he finally knows his level? Possibly both. Possibly could've waited it out for a coaching job in the English lower leagues. But all the best to him I genuinely hope he does ok over there.

Steve Kean is a very quality coach with highest level of Pre-degree, Is very sad that he is gone to Asia, where lots of Championship club/League1 club needs his service.

Hope he learn from his bad and sad event happen at Ewood.

He is a very positive person and he took some non-quality players at blackburn and suffer a lot.

Yep, I'll get one in as well before the Gimp gets on here.

Mark - you still haven't answered if you will be on here commenting should you not get anything other than the gaurenteed win at Ewood on 9th March after your months of spouting drivel? Well, I've waited for your answer long enough - If you don't wish to eat humble pie, I'll publish your mobile No. on here, so that my fellow Rovers can let you know what they think. I will suggest a £5 pledge to a charity of your choice - even D.I.N.G.L.E.S. - Deluded, Inbred, No-mark, Gimp, Laughing-stock, Empty-headed Suicide-squad

Also how embarrased are you about the story of your co-Chairman having to write an open letter to fans trying to get the on 't Turf? It really does beggar belief - 2nd in the League, on for automatic promotion, playing some great football, enjoying your moment in the sun, yet still you produce laughable crowds.

Dare to Dream - ha ha ha.

Here's a few classics taken from the Mirror:

Steve on Ryan Nelsen: “He's in a bad way. I've just been to see him. He's in traction. We need experienced players in the team and I can't wait to get him back, but I doubt he'll be let out before the end of the season."

Four days later Nelsen made his debut for Spurs

Steve said: “Bruno - or Denis after Denis Irwin, the boys call him, because he never gives the ball away - will fill in that position and that is great for us."

Bruno Ribeiro - or Denis - has never played for Rovers. None of us even knows what he even looks like.

Steve said: “There is no way Chris Samba is leaving this football club. I've spoken to the owners and that's the end of the matter.”

Samba left two weeks later

Steve on the plane carrying a protest banner over Ewood: “I didn’t see the plane and I don’t know what it said."

TV pictures showing Steve looking at the plane must have been misleading.

Anyone doubting the job Bowyers done has just been reminded how horrific things were back then. Without doubt the worst manager in the clubs history...

Good riddance

totally agree absolute garbage from this poster - its a pity the LT has nothing better to fill its space with - reporting on Keans move to an 'idiots league' in which he will fit well is of no importance to the Rovers fans after he and his cohorts killed off a good club like the Rovers !!

Why don't you move on to bigger and better things? How about becoming a fully paid up member of BRFC supporters club. You seem to be so obsessed with the Rovers, they are never out of your thoughts. You wake up thinking about them, you think about them throughout the day. You go to bed thinking of them and you dream about them. May I suggest you apply to be their mascot then you can really get close to your idols.

He had you lot third in the league with a decent side that were playing for him and getting results. You would have been promoted with Steve Kean. Look where you are now.

Exactly, we're second in the league with two big home games to come, clear of 3rd place and catching up to Leicester after being 13 points behind. We've been in the top 3 for FIVE MONTHS! Dare to dream! Even the old attendance jibe has no meaning whatsoever given that per head population Burnley attract the bigger crowd. Always have, always will. Desperate, jealous, mid-table Blackburn Rovers. Anyhow, now I've silenced this yapping moron, Good luck to you Steve Kean, you were always too good for these clowns, you had them third in the league and look where they are now. Hope you have a right good old laugh at them! Hahahaha....[/p]
I heard off your mum you still wet the bed mark.[/p]
Come on Mungo you can do better than that surely. It's you mugs who'll be wetting the bed in the run up to your home defeat by the Clarets. There'll be some damp sheets in Shadsworth, that's for sure. look.up.blackburn

Feel free.

I bet the fact that we are 17 points ahead of you makes you feel sick. 17 points you imbecile. Don't cry.

He had you lot third in the league with a decent side that were playing for him and getting results. You would have been promoted with Steve Kean. Look where you are now.
We were mid table PL when he took over, you fool. It's because of him, dodgy agents that can't be named and the VERMIN in India, that we got relegated in the first place. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of some Rovers bashing eh, you worthless degenerate.

When Dik Van Dyck leaves you clowns, maybe he could take over at Turd Moor? You'd welcome that, would you?
