Blackburn Rovers believed to be closing in on Cardiff City winger Craig Conway

This Is Lancashire: Blackburn Rovers believed to be closing in on Cardiff City winger Craig Conway Blackburn Rovers believed to be closing in on Cardiff City winger Craig Conway

BLACKBURN Rovers are believed to be close to signing Cardiff City winger Craig Conway.

The Lancashire Telegraph learned last night that Scotland international Conway, 28, is the wideman that Rovers boss Gary Bowyer wants.

And reports from north of the border this morning have suggested that Bowyer has got his man – on a permanent deal.

Conway, who made his name at Dundee United, has spent most of this season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and played in their 3-0 home win over Rovers on November 9.

Brighton were keen to re-sign Conway – who is out of contract in the summer – on loan.

But it appears he has set his sights on making the move to Ewood Park.

One player who could be on the way out of Rovers is their captain Scott Dann.

The centre-back is reported to be in talks with Premier League outfit Crystal Palace.

Rovers have not yet commented.

But earlier this week Bowyer said:  “There are clubs interested in Scott Dann.

“But until they meet the valuation that the club has got on him, and until that is put in writing to the club, it is pure speculation.”

Leeds United striker Luke Varney has made it clear he wants to join Rovers.

GB has nothing up his sleeve but if Dann goes he will have to make a speedy decision as its a bit late now to get a replacement ,I would suspect that they expected Dann would go and have someone already lined up maybe they have contacted Shebbie in Singapore for ideas.I cannot see any clubs letting their best defenders go today so hopefully there is a Premiership defender available on loan for us.

Hope so as it's been on the cards for weeks that Dann might go.

Just asked my Brighton supporting colleague at work 'Craig Conway, is he any good?'. His response was 'f***n hell have you signed him?'.

That will do for me. Apparently one of their top performers when on loan earlier in the season.

I can understand losing Scott Dann as his wages are to high.....however he need to be replaced with someone decent and with experience like he has....!

As for Conway....welcome aboard!

Still need another striker........GB trying to get rid of Best but I'm surprised nobody will take him for around £1.5 - £2mil!

Looks like Jordan Rhodes is on his way today. Southampton, West Brom and Palace all ready to give him a shot at Premier League football. Also QPR keeping an eye on him with Charlie's "unfortunate" shoulder injury ruling him out for a good while.

At least you've still got Rudy "The Hat" to fire you towards the play-off's.

What a shambles.

Ings isn't for sale. And if you hadn't noticed we're actually competing for automatic promotion not struggling to climb above mid-table.

Yes he is for sale. Along with everyone else at Burnley. They have no money and no investment and so the only way the club can survive is to sell off their best players e.g. Charlie Austin - remember when he 'wasn't for sale' in the summer?

Surely even for a braindead Claret you have realised by now that if any club puts serious money on the table for any of your players, the board will cash in? Its all they have ever done! You think Burnley are in a position to resist offers from bigger clubs?

Ings would love the chance to move back down South and treble his wage in the process.

I'm not bothered about Dann going. He's good but not great, and given our need to comply with financial fair play, getting his very high wages off the books makes sense. Gives us more room to maneuver in terms of players for other positions. I don't believe this seriously weakens us at all, it's relatively easy to find decent championship level central defenders. Btw I'm realistic that we are just a reasonable mid table side this year, which is no surprise given the massive rebuilding job we've had to do.

Perhaps if we were struggling in mid-table like yourselves and unlikely to even make the play-off's then yes, a silly offer would more than likely be considered, however since we are competing for an automatic promotion spot, the chance of a place in the Premier League and, according to some, a £120 million+ jackpot, then even a brain-dead b45tard like yourself can see there's not much to think about.

The manager has said he's not for sale, the directors have said its essential we keep hold of him. You say he's going.

Ings will be a Burnley player until the summer at the very least by which time we may have been promoted. Don't cry.

Rhodes however will be looking at this as a good chance to establish himself in the Premier League THIS SEASON and to remain there by joining the likes of Southampton or West Brom, both of whom are on the look out for a striker. And conveniently The 7 or 8 million you get for him will just about cover your drop in parachute payments.

In Venky's we trust.

Ings isn't for sale. And if you hadn't noticed we're actually competing for automatic promotion not struggling to climb above mid-table.
Ings is for sale, just like any other reasonable player has been at your medieval asbestos riddled 3rd world club. Burnley FC are simply a stepping stone for players to keep fit for a couple of seasons - an advertising sl4g who sell their assets for peanuts without a second thought, whilst Blackburn Rovers sell home grown talent like Duff & Jones for £17 million to some of Europes biggest clubs.

Dyche is also for sale, just like Owen Coyle sold himself as soon as Bolton came sniffing.

Can't knock you for revelling in this 5 minutes of fame though. You're teams been sh*t all your life troll master.

Rudy has scored 4 goals in the last 5 games you numpty! If you're going to fire a broadside at one our players then at least pick on one who isn't performing.

Here's a tip for anyone who wants to cash in on hopelessly optimistic Dingles such as this one - lay bets on Burnley to win promotion on Betfair!

If Dann does go good luck to him as without being outstanding has stabilised his career with us after the shambles at Brum and first season with us.
Not worried as we have two capable young lads at Rochdale and Torquay who will provide good back up and become very good players for Rovers.
Conway sounds a decent signing and just need to get rid of Best Utuhu and Olson and look forward to a decent finish to the season and a good go at promotion next season.

How embarrassed must you be to see our '3rd world club' club sat in a position in the table where you would love to be - actually fighting for promotion, where a play-off place is the least we will earn this year.

You say everyone is for sale at our team, but look at your transfer activity - out go around TEN players (Some of which clueless Bowyer signed himself a couple of months ago!!) with Dann and potentially Rhodes set to join them.

I mean who in their right mind would choose to play for Trampburn Rovers with their plastic non-attending protesting supporters, their boardroom chaos, their manager who sounds like he is dosed up on Mogodon, and the potential for a transfer embargo in twelve months?

Your club is going down faster than your sister does when half a cider is on offer so keep on looking up at your bigger and better neighbours whilst you struggle along in mid-table obscurity.

In Venkys we trust.

It isn't really my name, it's just the only way Mr Whydidtheybanme can make out to the world that he has a friend when in reality his continual obsession regarding truck drivers makes it clear to all just how this particular individual spends his evenings.

A quick search through the LT archives will in fact give you the name of Mr Whydidtheybanme. He has a particularly chequered past and is the subject of numerous articles after being caught on several occasions engaging in vigorous horseplay in the local area.

Rumour has it you will often see Mr Whydidtheybanme cruising the streets of Shadsworth after dark in his "Tranny Van", which in fact refers not to the type of van but to certain preferences of the driver. I believe there is a mattress in the back for special occasions.

Back to football, at least you clowns are beginning to accept that you are mid-table at best, makes a change from all that giddy play-off nonsense we've heard from you lately. Once Rhodes has escaped and you're left with a load more rejects and misfits you might finally see how much on an impact Financial Fair Play is actually having on your slap-stick tin-pot no-mark joke of a football club.

We are rebuilding mate, it doesn't happen overnight, compared with the last few seasons most of us are quite happy at the way things are going. I honestly believe the way for your lot is down, you've had your moment of glory! You've reached the summit as far as you are concerned and now it is a slow slide down the hill. You may make the play offs! What scares you is the Rovers getting in the playoffs and knocking you out after all your bragging this season! Your steady..admittedly..
slow decline started weeks ago! And realistically you know it, that is why you are always on this site having a dig, enjoy yourself while you can....it wont last much longer!!!!

You're teams been sh*t all your life troll master.[/p]
How embarrassed must you be to see our '3rd world club' club sat in a position in the table where you would love to be - actually fighting for promotion, where a play-off place is the least we will earn this year. Ings isn't for sale. And if you hadn't noticed we're actually competing for automatic promotion not struggling to climb above mid-table.

Good try Charlie but the bad news for you is you've just wasted your life typing 5 paragraphs of the same old recycled dinglish comedy.

I'm more embarrassed that you and your fellow Dexys Midnight Runner wannabes are so infatuated with our club you actually gauge your success on how many points above us in the league you are, then call us arrogant.

Nope, I'm sorry sweetheart but you dingles bring it on yourselves. You spend your lives concerning yourselves with all things Rovers and in the process fail to see that your current little purple patch could fall to pieces at any given moment.

So very easily pleased but I suppose that's natural considering the last 40 years on planet dingle.

Credit where credits due though, 3rd in the League, a good manager and 3 decent players, plus injury and suspension free means you'll surely win the next derby?

Rudy has scored 4 goals in the last 5 games you numpty! If you're going to fire a broadside at one our players then at least pick on one who isn't performing.

Here's a tip for anyone who wants to cash in on hopelessly optimistic Dingles such as this one - lay bets on Burnley to win promotion on Betfair!
Rudy has scored 4 goals in 11 appearances, and looking at your 2 points out of a possible 9 in the Championship you'd better be hoping he scores a few more, especially if rumours of Rhodes departure are to be believed.

Why are we hopelessly optimistic? We've been in the top 3 for months. Hopelessly optimistic would be your shambles expecting to finish anywhere above mid-table.

Conway just signed. Another proven performer who has been successful at this level. Very pleased that money has been spent on Cairney, Gestede and now Conway. Hopefully a back-up striker and if needed a replacement for Dann will be joining.

Meanwhile Burnley have signed a Brighton benchwarmer and have just lost out to Brentford in the race to sign Tarkowski from Oldham.

Good to sign players who have a track record of success in the Championship. How many of Burnley's players have ever won anything?

Hi Nick , another good signing then. The GB kickers might want to cut him some slack after this window. He is making some sound moves. The tactics thing does not worry me as he is pragmatic and as the squad improves so I bwlieve will his approach to games. The best is yet to come and I am thinking in terms of next season not this one
Btw, remind me how Dyche has bolstered his squad of worldies?
He has never spent much has he? Wonder if he has any skill in the market or player selection/ development? Everything was inherited at Burnley so he has not been tested that way.
Hmmm, something for the Dingles to consider?

Could well be another good signing but have to disagree that the tactics thing doesn't worry you.
Unfortunately Bowyers tactics have come under scrutiny and rightly so, don't get me wrong Bowyer has steadied the ship and got rid of a majority of the deadwood, however can you really justify his tactic in constantly playing Lowe and Williamson and also trying to sit on 1-0 leads all the time as nobody else seems to be able?
Agreed next season should be a better one but I honestly believe if he plays the right players we could be a lot higher up the table whether we should be there or not is another question.

Hopefully he's now getting the players together that 'he' wants. He's recently improved us up front, in midfield (Dabo) and now another winger. We're beginning to look more like an attacking side which should take the pressure of the defence. We'll have a better idea tomorrow when hopefully we'll see Dabo in action.

I'd be more worried about your own fate Mark, I think we are accepting of mid table this season with an outside chance of play offs (with or without Rhodes and Dann). You are seriously deluded if you think Dingles will be getting automatic promotion.
I take it Mark is his second name, with No being his first?

You got me there Skid - banged to rights! There's no need to admit your obsession in plain for all to see.

Back to football then, are you really happy with your form? Granted you hand a great run and are deservedly where you are. It's such a shame that your Board continue to shaft you lot up the @rse and don't provide any investment or incentive. Why havent they handed Dick van Douche a kitty to strenthen his squad? Your prized assets will undoubtedly be away at the next opportunity - can you blame them? Same as Coyle "Moses" turned into "Judas" overnight - BFC - Ambitionless, clueless, classless.

You are seriously deluded if you think Dingles will be getting automatic promotion.[/p]
I take it Mark is his second name, with No being his first?[/p]
Once Rhodes has escaped and you're left with a load more rejects and misfits you might finally see how much on an impact Financial Fair Play is actually having on your slap-stick tin-pot no-mark joke of a football club.[/p]
I'd rather contact my wheelie bin for ideas on a player rather than Shebby Singh. He'd probably recommend signing Scott Dann from Palace as Scott Danns replacement.
And he would get that wrong.
He's more likely to recommend Dan Scott (some unknown from Malaysia who is the next John Terry etc etc)

"...GB certainly has my backing as I think he is doing a good job but the tactics have to be questioned"

Blue and White, my dear fellow, are tactics not a central part of management? How can he be cocking those but still be doing a good job?

What a little spot of nonsense eh?
