Team news: Barnsley v Blackburn Rovers

BLACKBURN Rovers have made two changes for tonight’s Championship clash at basement boys Barnsley.

David Dunn and Lee Williamson replace Chris Taylor and the injured Ben Marshall.

There is no place in the Rovers squad for new loan signing Bryan Dabo, whose international clearance has not come through in time.

Barnsley, who are five points adrift of safety, also make two changes.

Nick Proschwitz, a new loan signing from Hull City, and Lewin Nyatanga come in for Ryan McLaughlin and Jacob Mellis.

Barnsley: Steele, Cranie, Ramage, Nyatanga, Kennedy, Shea, Dawson, O’Brien, Jennings, O’Grady, Proschwitz. Subs: Dibble, McCourt, Cywka, M’voto, Lawrence, Noble-Lazarus.

Rovers: Robinson, Henley, Hanley, Kilgallon, Spurr, Lowe, Williamson, Cairney, Dunn, Rhodes, Gestede. Subs: Eastwood, Kane, King, Olsson, Taylor, Morris, Mahoney.

Damien duff on loan would do for me. Experienced, talented and fills the gap left by Marshall's injury. Would also help keep Williamson out of the team. Coyb

Flumoxed here GB, what's the system 4-2-2-2? We won't win with both Lowe and Williamson in the side.

Well...yet again Hanley gives away a penalty ..3 now away from home !!! - think Hanley is the weakest link in the defence and needs to be dropped ...definitely 2 points dropped !!! - not good enough GB and you take the best player off in Dunn !!!

Agree, losing games they should draw and drawing games they should win. A miracle we are still so close to the play-offs. Sorry to repeat, but we have lost momentum since GB moved Cairney wide right and he plays Lowe and Williamson in central midfield, then we don't have the quality to keep the ball.

Hopefully Dabo and a fit again Evans will soon replace the dreaded duo and we can start to build again.

But hopefully nothing too serious nor career threatening. I wouldn't really wish a serious injury to anybody. Well maybe two or three burnley players!! Oh and maybe Bradley Orr. And Steve kean. And perhaps dangerous dingle

We seriously need to string 3 or 4 wins together now. Including wins against teams around us in the league ( Brighton and Reading ). With both on the horizon and Readings "Manchester City" like habit of bagging more than 4 goals a game. We need to tighten up defensively, stop conceding penaltys and start taking our chances. As much as I like GB and appreciate the work he's done to stabilise the club some of his footballing decisions have left me puzzled. The guy is tactically inept. Why four center midfielders on the field when Taylor and King are warming the bench? Why play Cairney out of position? Too many questions to ask. Maybe it's also time to give Kane another run out? Anyway s**t result for us. Look forward to Blackpool, it's winnable. ;)

No room to talk, your luck is running out, Leicester well away, QPR clear, Derby breathing down you necks, the Forest, then......

Don't think a promotion run will happen this season we are slowly edging away from the play off spot. We may get 3 points from Blackpool if we are lucky but after that will probably be a point here and a point there but not good enough I am afraid. I am pleased however that we have got Gestede and that we are playing two up front. But Rhodes seems to have lost his shooting boots for now. We don't seem to be able to change a game when needed with substitutions from the bench etc and we still keep shooting ourselves in the foot.

Interesting post from the Twitter board .....

'Leeds boss Brian McDermott confirms Luke Varney asked not to play tonight after approach from Blackburn Rovers....'

Maybe this is the signing we desperately need to get our Play-off hopes back on track - drawing to bottom club is just not good enough at this stage of the season and we now need quality players in the team and not average ala Williamson - 0 goals, Lowe - 1 goal...come on GB shake the team up and have some balls and drop the mediocre players !!!!

Oooooh Nick, that was a king size lash if ever I saw one! The difference being the draw we ended up with was against a good Quality side who are genuine play off contenders, you boys scrapped a point against a rock bottom side who by all accounts were unlucky not to nick it at the end.

and one win off 2nd spot would suggest that our luck is still most definitely in!!!
