BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Chris Taylor has urged his team-mates to put the club’s Championship play-off push back on track with a vital victory at home to Derby County today (3pm).

Taylor admits last weekend’s 4-1 loss at Nottingham Forest represented a ‘step backwards’ in Rovers’ attempts to snatch a top six spot.

But with most of their fellow promotion hopefuls out of action because of the FA Cup, the 27-year-old believes the visit of the fourth-placed Rams is the ideal opportunity to bounce back.

Taylor said: “We keep getting close to breaking into the play-off places and that was a bit of a step backwards.

“But if we can produce the kind of form we have been in prior to the Forest game then hopefully that will put us right back in the mix.

“We started the year very well up until now and the results are starting to settle down a bit.

“We are also getting to know each other’s game more now because it’s easy to forget there are a lot of new players in this team this season.

“It has set up the match with Derby nicely – I think we need to go all out for the three points.

“It will be tough but we want to keep up with the pack so it’s definitely a game we want to win.”
