Blackburn Rovers striker DJ Campbell joins Millwall on loan

This Is Lancashire: DJ Campbell DJ Campbell

DJ Campbell has followed Ruben Rochina out of the Blackburn Rovers exit door after joining Millwall on loan until the end of the season.

Rochina moved to Spanish side Rayo Vallecano on a temporary deal earlier in the day and Campbell has now made the switch to south London to link up with his former Leicester and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: "With his ankle injury in pre-season and the arrival of Rudy Gestede, DJ has found his chances limited and at this stage of his career he needs to be playing games.

"The attraction of Millwall for DJ is that he can go back to London, where his family are from and he'll be reunited with Ian Holloway. The pair have a lot of time for each other.

"Both parties felt that it was the right move and it will be good for him to get some games under his belt."

We was always going to get rid of some of the players who are on high wages! Providing we can keep rhodes and start playing him and gestede up front TOGETHERI will be happy. I beleive the playoffs (being only 4 points away) is still very achievable.

That's because he'll cost an aweful lot less in the summer, sadly for you guys. Optimum is to flog now and reinvest. For that to happen, your owners will have to have a cogent plan. So that's stuffed then, eh?

We need to reduce the size of the squad so this is a good move. Wonder who's paying his wages though? Would prefer to keep Rochina but Bowyer doesn't rate him and he's the boss

we are 4 points of the playoffs and you think we are a sinking fast
well I know chickens have small brains but it looks like we got a burnley fan with one even smaller!!
and the whole point of having a loan window is so that players that can't get a game at one club can go and play for another
one more thing Rochina and Campbell have gone out on loan and not been sold

I really hope that you are right about Rhodes as I will be having kittens until the closure of the transfer window!

There is an article on the Sky Sports website which mentions Bowyer saying that Rhodes will be sold if the right price should come along where he has quoted "We're fully aware that if someone came in with an unbelievable bid we wouldn't be able to not accept it."

Without any disrespect to Rhodes, Rovers bought him for £8 million but even if another club came up with a £12 million bid, I do not believe he is worth that much. Rhodes would struggle in the Premier League as he is not good enough and lacks pace and I doubt that Bowyer would sell him to another Championship club as we are pushing for promotion ourselves.

GB just being honest, There's not a player on the planet who isn't for sale if the price is right, but obviously some deals are easier to make than others.

I agree JRs value to Rovers is higher than most clubs would be prepared to pay for him at the moment. Would just like to see him back, up front with Rudy, soon as possible.

You can borrow one of our 4 goalkeepers and play him up front, you might need one when Rhodes goes next week. Why do you think he has been on the bench the last few games, its to see if you can cope without him.
Rochina, DJ Gamble, Goodwillie, next Best then Rhodes, that door is opening and closing more than FakeT**s legs.

I suspect the answer to that is they are struggling to get on the bench let alone a game and most are pretty young and inexperienced.

It's hard for them to get competitive games at the right level so loaning them out to clubs at a lower level and monitoring their progress is sensible.

We aren't the only club doing this.

DJ for Millwall is a real brucie bonus - he has worked with Holloway before so Stanley must know what he is letting himself in for.

Wonder if the reason he played against City was to prove that he can still move around a football pitch.

We are slowly extricating ourselves of the effects (on the pitch) of kean and shebby. regrettably, the financial impact still looms large....but i would rather have a squad devoid of characters like DJ and Best and have players who at least fancy putting a shift in. Hopefully Orr and Best will be next.

I for one am glad that DJ has left the club, what a shame that it is only until the end of theseason. And it looks like Best will be going to Palace this week, where I am sure he will do quite well as they will probably play him as their main striker. It never worked out for him at Ewood, maybe cos Rhodes took all the limelight and goals!

But if Best does go, then as ridiculous as it sounds, we are letting our joint second highest goal scorer this season leave!

That highlights Rovers major problem this season - our reliance on Rhodes scoring to win games. We are over halfway through the season now and for our second highest scorers (Best, Gestede, Spurr, Marshall) to only have 2 goals is ridiculous...

Yes it looks like Gestede will get more goals as he gets more games, but will it be enough? An injury to him or to Rhodes will really hurt the team.
The only other striker we will have then (who could/should be capable to add to our goals tally) is Goodwillie. But he has yet to prove that he still has the drive or the talent to do that.

We desperately need the likes of King and Cairney weighing in with some goals on a regular basis (Marshall too) and we should see some goals from our central defenders who have not managed one all season.

If Best goes this week - which seems very likely - then Rovers MUST bring in another goal scoring player. Whether that is an attack-minded goal scoring midfielder or an already well proven scoring forward is down to availability and it may be difficult for GB to find one as everyone is after the same type of player at this time of the season.

But without that addition to our goal starved club then the play-offs will remain but a distant dream this season.

How very sad that you have nothing of a football related nature to make you feel better about your dire situation. The reason for this being that your football club are being dominated in EVERY AREA by Burnley FC and it drives you insane with jealousy. You are now, and will forever be, in our shadow.

Like you have for the last few years Mungo?

You've run out of luck now I'm afraid, and no amount of bumming yourself up is going to change the fact that your comical 34 year semi is about to go floppy once and for all. When we silence your squealing in March you have nothing left at all. Unfortunately for you, you really couldn't be playing us at a worse time, we've been in the top 3 of the Championship for 4 months and we're aiming for an automatic promotion spot while laughing at you morons scrambling around in mid-table losing £3 million every month, a massive 14 points behind us as we approach the end of January. We ARE dominating you and you can't stand it.

Poor old, jealous, debt-ridden Blackburn Rovers.

I find it funny that Burnley fans need to reassure themselves of the 14pt gap (which means f*ck all in January), because they have been inferior to Rovers for 35years :-)

Stick to your own forums, spend less time worrying about Rhodes and our debt situation, and more about how you are going to stay in the top 6 without Dingle Ings...

Why where has Ings gone?

To Spain with the rest of the Burnley squad - that's where.

One of the reasons we are different to you (apart from the obvious, that we don't sleep with our second cousins) is that if we sell Ings, we have the means to replace him, like we did with Steven Fletcher, Jay Rodriguez, Charlie Austin etc etc.

And when (Not if) Rhodes goes, your next top goalscorer has a pathetically embarrassing TWO GOALS, just goes to show how overly reliant Trampburn are on his goals to keep you up - he goes, you go down.

Ings to Fulham - would not be surprised at all if that goes ahead.
If Rhodes does leave, the money we'd get would be enough to replace him with at least 2 strikers. We are 8th, and have more than enough points to stay up, at least 10 teams worse than us in the league.
Would love to see where you guys finish, having being near the top for so long, auto spots are taken by others, and cant see Burnley finishing near the top 2

We need to reduce the size of the squad so this is a good move. Wonder who's paying his wages though? Would prefer to keep Rochina but Bowyer doesn't rate him and he's the boss

Maybe Ings will leave for Fulham or whoever, but it will be for a **** sight more than £4 million.

And WHEN Rhodes does go, do you really think your cost-cutting owners are going to **** the money on two strikers?? Really?? You are more deluded than I thought - you are currently losing £3 MILLION PER MONTH.

And why can't you see us finishing near the top two? Is that because you really really don't want us to? Not sure that will be enough to stop us unfortunately for you.

Oh, and there are more cousin marriages per head of population in Blackburn than anywhere else in the UK.

Some key analysis

Forwards not scoring
Wide players not scoring
Midfield players not scoring
Central defenders not chipping in a few

Says it all really

Interesting Burnley play Ings & Vokes home and away but both can drop and fill in in midfield

Basically down to how tactically managers set their teams up

If Best is going, and I desperately hope that he is, it is even more ludicrous that we let Rochina go. Whilst not an out and out striker he is the most creative attack minded player in the squad. Sorry GB, it's a Big error of judgement.
