Blackburn Rovers anger over Dann injury

This Is Lancashire: Scott Dann Scott Dann

ANGRY Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has vowed to ‘look again’ at the incident which has left him sweating on the fitness of skipper Scott Dann.

Dann left the City Ground on Saturday with his arm in a sling following an off-the-ball altercation involving Nottingham Forest substitute Darius Henderson that was missed by referee Darren Deadman.

The centre back, after receiving lengthy medical treatment at the side of the pitch, was unable to continue.

It meant Rovers were forced to play out the final 10 minutes with 10 men after using their allotted three substitutes.

And Forest took full advantage to score with virtually the last kick of the match to seal a flattering 4-1 victory.

Dann, who will require an X-ray to determine the extent of the damage to his arm, was understood to be furious.

Bowyer was too but, in fear of landing himself in hot water with the authorities, he managed to keep his emotions in check.

Bowyer said: “We had a situation where we lost Scott to what looked like a nasty challenge and we are going to have a look at that again.

“We are a little bit concerned about Scott and that’s why we will get him checked out. We felt at the time it wasn’t a particularly pleasant challenge.

“But we’ll have a look at it again and then if we need to make a further comment we shall do so.”

Rovers were already planning to write a strongly worded referee report even before they lost Dann.

They were enraged by Deadman’s controversial decision to award Forest the first of two penalties from which they opened the scoring.

Bowyer admitted his side’s defending left a lot to be desired.

But he added: “The scoreline may give some people the opportunity to go overboard. But the people that were here and who give an honest reflection on the game would say we did all right in certain areas.

“It’s just that it all hinged on that first decision from the referee.”

Goalkeeper Paul Robinson missed the match with a hamstring strain and faces a race to be ready for this Saturday’s visit of Derby County to Ewood Park (3pm), while top scorer Jordan Rhodes was deemed fit enough only for a place on the bench.

Bowyer, who introduced Rhodes in the 58th minute, said: “Jordan hadn’t trained all week so we had to be sensible. We didn’t want to play him and lose him for four or five games so a decision was made with the knowledge that we’ve got 21 more games to play.”

Ruben Rochina was left out of the squad ahead of a proposed loan move to Rayo Vallecano.

DJ Campbell, who has been linked with a loan switch to Championship rivals Millwall, also did not feature.

Bradley Orr is on the verge of joining Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC on a year-long loan.

Oh dear. Injuries, players on the move, dumped out of the FA Cup in disgrace, 9 goals conceded in 2 games; the wheels have well and truly come off. A third straight defeat and surely Bowyer has to walk.

Nice to see lots of players potentially being shipped out on loan, this may enable us to be able to afford one or two loan signings. As things stand now we would struggle to make the playoffs, but with a quality young player or two from a big premier league club we may still have a chance.

Yes another name change. He must be posting under four or five monikers now. He needs to modify his language a bit if he wants to try to fool anyone.

Agree, some of the players are falling short of what is needed.

It's going to be so funny when you lot don't get promoted & I mean hilarious. Considering the amount of rubbish that you have spouted over the last few years, I'm going to be falling about laughing. What you need to remember is that you are one of the smaller clubs in this league and if you don't go up this season, all of the bigger clubs which are more attractive, more fashionable and offering more lucrative contracts will be sniffing around the players and manager that have brought you so much "success" this year. And let's face it, if you think your owners are going to reinvest even a quarter of what you get in transfer fees, then you're even thicker than you sound.

There aren't many clubs in this league that could occupy a top two spot for so long and yet only get 11,000 home fans through the gates.

Burnley are one of them.

Form, players, managers, are all temporary. They come and go. Woeful support it seems, is not.

It just goes to show the total disinterest in a small club like Burnley if their own denizens can't even bothered to attend whilst they have been near the top of the league most of the season. I dread to think what it'll be like as they continue the inevitable slide down the table.

Class though, is permanent sunshine and that is something we have in abundance, hence our position in the league.

We are a class apart from you lot, the gap is rising and your chances of scraping into a playoff spot are diminishing with every game that passes.

Look at your match report, the majority of Rovers fans that were talking about playing us at Wembley in the playoffs on Friday are now questioning Bowyers abilities in the job and his managerial decision making.

Hilarious, that you talk about woeful support when you could only muster 1300 fans to Forest despite you lot deludedly calling them a play off rival (Especially when we took 1800 to the same ground).

Also hilarious that you have THE cheapest tickets in the league and still can't get 14k on, I guarantee if your season tickets were the same price as ours, you would get lower crowds than we do and you know it.

It is such a shame that the only thing you feel you can take the **** out of Burnley is our attendances, because our actual team is outperforming yours on EVERY SINGLE LEVEL, and then it becomes clear that even on the attendance levels you are losing the argument.

I assume this is the same "inevitable slide down the table" you've been predicting since October 1st 2013. Over 3 and a half months ago.

Well if we are getting rid of 3 or 4 non playing squad members that is good but why Rochina on loan? is it not best to retain him for our midfield as we are crying out for a skilful midfielder to make things happen just look at the number of goals we don't score.
We need a massive transfusion and somehow I cannot see GB having sufficient nous to bring in the necessary players we need as he still admires Lowe a player like Williamson who panics in defence and cannot shoot properly or create openings. We also require a right back and a goalie if Robinson is out for a while.

god help us if evolution ever happened in burnley. maybe they should stick to scrapping in their own town centre - they seem to enjoy that.

I would be more annoyed at Dann's below standard displays as a central defender than a late off the ball incident in a game that we had already lost. Remember that as well as picking the ball out of the net 11 times in his last 3 games, Eastwood made 3 top class saves in the Forest game alone to make up for mistakes made by Dann's defensive unit.

Burnley FC continue to exceed Blackburn Rovers in every area.
There aren't many clubs in this league that could occupy a top two spot for so long and yet only get 11,000 home fans through the gates.

You're the clown. Before Christmas you were top and three points clear. Now you're third and six points behind Leicester in just a few short weeks. You've been overtaken by QPR who are coming to form at just the right time and you are almost as inconsistent as we are.
Promotion, never, play offs perhaps, but there are far better teams than Burnley coming good at the right time as the Dingles continue to falter.
In March we'll pass you as you slide down the table and make it 36 years, yes, 36 years, and STILL counting.
Form is temporary, Class, which you have never known is permanent.

GB please note that a push in the back no matter how slight is a free kick anywhere on the pitch and it was stupid of Hanley to do it in front of the referee.
Sadly we did not lose because of the ref and could have been sunk without a trace in the first half if Forrest had finished better. Better second half but even then a little dozey.

Agree, some of the players are falling short of what is needed.
Consistency, is what we miss most from our players. For example Josh King on his day is a player who excites and wins games on his own. Unfortunately when not on his game he becomes a passenger.

We should be tapping up teams like Chelsea and try and bring on loan their next generation of talent.

I believe that Rovers have a young player with quality in Cairney. Once Cairney has established himself with Rovers for the next 1-2 seasons (let us hope that he does not get injured like he was when he was with Hull City), I bet other clubs will be trying to buy him from us!

Fans from other clubs seem to laugh at us Rovers supporters but I do notice that once Rovers have made players stars, the larger clubs (eg Manchester United) seem to want them - look at Phil Jones!

Are you simple?

The form table you lot were harping on about before we overtook you in that as well, shows we are actually above QPR who according to you are coming into form at the right time.

Also the pathetic 35 year myth - I mean we didn't actually play you for 29 of those years, so your desperation levels are highly entertaining - clinging onto this non-playing record like it is your footballing comfort blanket, because in real life you are in crisis.

As for us faltering, don't you just wish you could be faltering like we are - we have lost just THREE games this season and have Leicester, Forest, Derby, Ipswich, Leeds and Wigan to come at home where we are unbeaten in almost a year.

Admit it, you are worried aren't you? It's OK, embrace your fear.

"continue to falter"? Did you really just write that?

We're unbeaten this year you clown, we've won 2 and drawn 1. We are a point behind QPR, that's a point off an automatic promotion spot, having been in the top 3 since September 21.

I'll just clarify that statement for you Mungo.... We've been in the TOP 3 FOR 4 MONTHS. How long have you been in the top 3?

As we "continue to falter", your desperation apparently knows no bounds.

We hammered Sheff Weds on Saturday and were very unlucky not to take the 3 points, while you were busy conceding your 9th goal in two games.

So now you move the goalposts to March to overtake us? Wasn't it Christmas that you lot were going to be "waving at us on the way past"? Didn't happen did it Mungo. The gap is now a massive 14 points!

The bad run of form you lot were praying for happened before Christmas when we went 7 games without a win, where did we end up? Still in the top 3. That was your big chance and you blew it. How embarrassing.

We have yet to play Nottingham Forest, Derby and Leicester all at Turf Moor, and I would back us against any of those teams at home with the stakes being an automatic promotion spot.

The comment about passing us in March I will put down to you overdoing it on the meth's. That is the single most ridiculous statement yet, however I will humour you in your ignorance. For you to go above us in March (and I assume you mean on derby day; we play 4 games at home in March.) you would have to make up 15 points on us between now and then, given our vastly superior goal difference of +19.

8 games, 24 points to play for.

Assuming Burnley were to implode and go on a winless run, say losing 3 of those games and drawing 5 for a return of 5 points out of 24, Blackburn would have to achieve 20 points from 24, effectively winning 6 and drawing 2 of your next 8 games to overtake us. Unlikely to say the least.

However if Burnley were to win just 2 and draw 2 for a return of 8 points from 24, then Blackburn would have to achieve 24 points out of 24, i.e.. an 8 game winning streak. Care to tell me when the last time that happened was?

Additionally your run of games includes Derby, Blackpool, Reading (away), Bolton (away), and Burnley.

Perhaps it's time to adjust your outlook Mungo? You will be well below us in March, and April, and May. Hence your entire season now revolves around a Claret failure to secure an automatic promotion spot. Given our performance to date, would you really bet against us? I think not.

What a shambles you lot are. Poor old, jealous, debt-ridden, Blackburn Rovers. Forever in Burnley's shadow.

Forever in Burnley's shadow. chicken.pluckers

I agree we have produced some good players over the years. My favourite (after the Title era) was the Dunn, Duff, Jansen era. Three quality players in one team.

Not too sure though about how good Phil Jones is/was, I watched motd last night, and Phil Jones got absolutely slated for his performance against Chelsea. I am beginning to think that we may have got a good price when we sold Jones. I still think he is a good player mind, just maybe not worth £16m.

I have got my fingers crossed that we have another talent in connor mahoney, with him being so young it will be about another 4 years or so before we find out how good he is. I would love it though if he became anywhere near as good as Duff and Dunny.

You won't see them for dust Jack lol.

How's the fabled form table looking now boys?
It's not long since all we heard from the no-dads was "look at the form table", strange that they don't mention it any more.

here it is: http://stats.footbal

l365.co.uk/dom/ENG/D

1/oform.html

Burnley FC continue to exceed Blackburn Rovers in every area.
There aren't many clubs in this league that could occupy a top two spot for so long and yet only get 11,000 home fans through the gates.

I assume this is the same "inevitable slide down the table" you've been predicting since October 1st 2013. Over 3 and a half months ago.

What a clown.

What a k..b you are. Jealous! Forever in burnleys shadow! Who are you calling mungo? Probably never go and support.... To say our club has been ripped apart by a regime not too distant from one I contributed to toppling and we're still here, wonder if that could be said for burnley had it happened to them????

Promotion, never, play offs perhaps, but there are far better teams than Burnley coming good at the right time as the Dingles continue to falter. In March we'll pass you as you slide down the table and make it 36 years, yes, 36 years, and STILL counting. Form is temporary, Class, which you have never known is permanent.[/p]
Forever in Burnley's shadow.[/p]
Yes another name change. He must be posting under four or five monikers now. He needs to modify his language a bit if he wants to try to fool anyone.
How's the fabled form table looking now boys?
It's not long since all we heard from the no-dads was "look at the form table", strange that they don't mention it any more.

1/oform.html

Burnley FC continue to exceed Blackburn Rovers in every area.
There aren't many clubs in this league that could occupy a top two spot for so long and yet only get 11,000 home fans through the gates.

I assume this is the same "inevitable slide down the table" you've been predicting since October 1st 2013. Over 3 and a half months ago.

What a clown.
