PLAYER RATINGS: Nottingham Forest v Blackburn Rovers

This Is Lancashire: Simon Eastwood got eight out of 10 Simon Eastwood got eight out of 10

BLACKBURN Rovers reporter Paul Wheelock gives his ratings for yesterday's 4-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest.

Do you agree with his ratings? Have your say using the comment facility below.

Paul Wheelock's ratings:

Simon Eastwood 8: Blameless for Forest’s four goals, he saved from David Vaughan, Henri Lansbury – twice – and Jamie Mackie.

Adam Henley 5: Was given a torrid time by Jamie Paterson. Gave away the second penalty and his poor pass led to Forest’s fourth goal.

Scott Dann 6: Fit-again captain came off for the final 10 minutes after he was left writhing in agony following an off-the-ball challenge.

Grant Hanley 6: Was horrified to see a penalty awarded against him before having a spot-kick appeal of his own turned down.

Tommy Spurr 6: Endured a tough time up against Mackie but came as close as any Rovers player to equalising when he hit the post.

Jason Lowe 5: After a tireless shift against Manchester City not at his best and his poor pass nearly led to Lansbury scoring his third.

Lee Williamson 5: Like Lowe struggled to stop Forest’s midfielders from getting in behind him and taking shots at Eastwood’s goal.

Tom Cairney 7: Went close with a free kick, set-up Ben Marshall’s goal and it was from his deal-ball delivery that saw Spurr go close.

Chris Taylor 6: Never stopped running and should have been rewarded in the second half when he was seemingly pushed over in the box.

Ben Marshall 7: Continued his upturn in form with a brilliantly taken goal which gave Rovers hope when all appeared lost.

Rudy Gestede 5: Shot wide early on when he could have passed, the striker ploughed a lone furrow up front on his own.

says it all really when we get beat 4-1 and our man of the match is our goalie!

we all know we need to be more attacking having both lowe and williamson is not working

if we want to get in the play offs we need to try and beat teams not just try not to get beat

GB needs to change tact as soon as possible and try to get away from a defenders mentality and feel he has been talikng to the wrong people he is concentrating on trying to stay in a game first rather than go all out to win it. Steve Bruce has a lot of experience and can get away with it. It 's funny that when we went to Leeds several managers had just recently lost their jobs and even Gary commented on it. There was also rumblings about his cautious tactics at the same time, therefore what does he do, he plays an attacking line up with 3 forwards and got at them from the start and won the game. Gary has done all this good work for the club but does not seem capable of taking advantage of the situation he has created for himself and the club. Maybe he should play every game as though he would get the sack if he didn't win the next game.

Sorry Wild Rover but he is 100% correct. I have been saying for weeks we need to ditch Williamson and play a more attacking midfielder. Hopefully Evans can come in and fill that void.

Well its blatantly obvious we are not good enough to get into the play offs and win home and away as even if we managed it could anyone realistically expect us to play forest twice and come out on top we just have no goals in that team and rely on Jordan.
GB nice bloke has done a good job for us but can he turn us into a free scoring team/ Answer is no as he is still blaming the referee which he tends to do every time we get hammered surely he has to realise our players especially in defence and midfied are not up to it. We need to get rid of Best and Dann to Palace and bring in some decent defenders to replace Dann,Henley,Lowe,Wil
liamson etc.

If the playoffs were happening this week you would probably have a point, as they are not, you don't.

GB is turning the ship around, and if he can make as much progress in the second half of the season as he has in the first then playoffs are certainly not out of the question. To get there would mean our form has become more consistent so it would then be perfectly reasonable to expect a good showing.

Now look at the players who are getting top marks, Eastwood, Cairney and Marshall this week, Spurr Taylor and Gestede also had good reviews recently. Do you see what these guys have in common ?

If we were still in the bottom 6 I would expect a new manager now, but as it is, why change something that is improving ?

I am not happy about some of his selections or substitutions but he knows what's really going on I have to admit he has developed the squad and got us into a position where we are talking about potential promotion, not potential relegation.

quite a lot of bluster and shouting there. but not a great deal of it seems to make much sense, largely because it is so extreme.
ahead of this game, we were looking to nudge into the playoff places. yet 90 mins later, it is an utter catastrophe according to you.
it appears that you are seeking some kind of nirvana. a perfect world in which every game goes exactly according to plan and out f a squad of 25, we have the top 25 players in the world... if you stick with this view, i think you're going to be a little disappointed.
back in the real world, we are definitely making progress under a manager we can finally actually like. we have a decent squad reflective of the position we are in, and most are hungry to improve. we will win some games, and lose some others. the forest game was one of those defeats.
...see a little bit of perspective means you don't have to be so upset all the time.

It's not being idealist, but if you want to move up in the table, you have to beat teams in and around you; I don't care how good they are cracked up to be, we should be hammering them all day long, home or away.

well agree to disagree i suppose. for me, as upsetting as it is to lose any game, you can't ring the changes ever time something doesn't go according to plan.
we're not in a position to radically change the playing staff, so bowyer must make the best of what we've got. personally i think what we've got is largely pretty decent - for this level at least.
the defence is certainly erratic, and you could argue we don't make as much of our opportunities in the final third, but i think we are getting there.

the time has arrived to take stock of the situation at Ewood and realise this season with this team,, are going nowhere. We were well and truly found out by a team we couldn,t match in most departments,,sorry but there are far too many players who at best can earn a good living from the game but sadly lack the basic requirements of ability and desire, and that is what is required for a team with aspirations of promotion to the premiership,,l,m afraid its another **** year in the second tier once more,,

Just seen a rerun of the first penalty decision. The ref was conned, never a penalty in a month of Sundays. The player deliberately barged into Hanley.

Finally a realistic Blackburn Rovers supporter. Well done Sir for saying what is all too obvious to everyone else. Under Bowyer, BRFC are stagnating. To spend a third season outside of the Premier League would be no less than a financial disaster. To have any chance of scraping into the play-off's the existing management structure must be dropped in favour of someone who can inject a bit of passion into this sub-standard squad of misfits and rejects. A big ask.

I agree whether its the Players, the Formation, the Manager, the Basic Desire take your pick but this lot are going nowhere and the longer we are in this division the worst it gets,it's going to be interesting what happends in the close season in more ways than one

Not particularly useful for changing the outcome of the game
