Summary

  • WELCOME to the City Ground for Blackburn Rovers' Championship clash at Nottingham Forest. Follow all the action here with our live blog.

4:57pm

FULL-TIME Forest 4 Rovers 1.

4:53pm

GOAL 4-1 Forest. Andy Reid. 90 mins.

4:34pm

SUBS two for Forest - Matty Derbyshire and Guy Moussi on, David Vaughan and Jamie Mackie off - and one for Rovers - David Dunn on, Chris Taylor off.

4:32pm

Just when it looked like Rovers were getting on top, Jamie Paterson scores a wonderful solo effort for Forest, jinking past his marker and then firing right-footed low into the bottom corner.

4:31pm

GOAL 3-1 Forest. Jamie Paterson. 72 mins.

4:29pm

Rovers enjoying their best spell of the game. Forest about to bring two subs on. 71 mins. 2-1.

4:25pm

Rovers go close, Josh King wins a ball on the edge of the box and fires-in a left-footed drive which Karl Darlow parries into the path of Tom Cairney, whose shot on the turn goes over. 67 mins. 2-1.

4:21pm

Crowd is 22,456 (1,367 away).

4:20pm

Poor pass in midfield from Jason Lowe to Henri Lansbury, whose fierce 25-yard strike was parried wide by Simon Eastwood to Jamie Peterson, whose stood-up cross is flicked wide by Simon Cox. Should have scored. 61 mins. 2-1.

4:18pm

Moments before the substitution, Andy Reid's left-wing cross was punched clear by Simon Eastwood as far as the onrushing right-back Gonzalo Jara, whose well-struck first-time effort was not too far wide.

4:16pm

SUB for Rovers. Jordan Rhodes on, Rudy Gestede off. 58 mins. 2-1.

4:12pm

SUB for Rovers as Josh King comes on for Lee Williamson. 64 mins. 2-1.

4:11pm

Rovers go so close to an equaliser. Tom Cairney free kick to Scott Dann who heads towards goal and there was Ben Marshall with an acrobatic flick that Karl Darlow pushed over.

From the resulting Cairney corner, Tommy Spurr headed over when he could have done better. 47 mins. 2-1.

4:04pm

No changes for either side. Second half is under way.

3:49pm

HALF-TIME Forest 2 Rovers 1.

3:44pm

Stunning block by Grant Hanley to prevent Jamie Paterson's goal-bound shot troubling Simon Eastwood after the winger had turned Scott Dann inside out. 44 mins. 2-1.

3:39pm

Forest nearly restore their two-goal advantage, Jamie Mackie cutting in from the right and firing a left-footed curler which Simon Eastwood turned over his bar. 39 mins. 2-1.

3:38pm

Out of nowhere Rovers are back in it. A corner breaks to the edge of the box where Tom Cairney neatly lays the ball off for Ben Marshall who takes a touch before bending the ball into the top corner from 20 yards. Great finish.

3:36pm

GOAL 2-1 Rovers. Ben Marshall. 37 mins.

3:35pm

No doubt that one was a penalty. Silly, silly tackle by Adam Henley on Jamie Mackie. Forest deserve their two-goal lead, given to by Lansbury, who smashed his effort past the diving Simon Eastwood and into the middle of the goal.

3:34pm

GOAL 2-0 Forest. Henri Lansbury (pen). 34 mins.

3:33pm

PENALTY Forest. 33 mins.

3:30pm

Tom Cairney's free kick, curled round the wall, goes high and wide. 31 mins. 1-0.

3:29pm

BOOKED Dan Harding for the challenge.

3:29pm

Wonderful piece of skill by Tom Cairney wins Rovers a free kick 20 yards from goal. 30 mins. 1-0.

3:28pm

Rovers just can't keep the ball, Forest pressing relentlessly. Chances may have dried up but still only one team in it. 28 mins. 1-0.

3:20pm

Rovers have been poor so far but credit to Forest, they have been excellent. Really, really bright. 21 mins. 1-0.

3:16pm

It's been coming but it still looked a harsh penalty, Grant Hanley adjudged to have barged Henri Lansbury in the box. Lansbury then picked himself up and fired the spot-kick low and hard into the bottom corner and, although Simon Eastwood got two hands to it, the power beat him.

3:14pm

GOAL 1-0 Forest. Henri Lansbury (pen). 15 mins.

3:13pm

PENALTY to Forest. 14 mins.

3:12pm

Great start from Forest - they've had Rovers on the ropees. But, in the 13th minute, it remains goalless.

3:10pm

All Forest. Henri Lansbury finds space in midfield, breaks forward and unleashes low, well-struck right-footed effort from 20 yards which Simon Eastwood had to get down to his right to turn behind. Good save. 10 mins. 0-0.

3:09pm

Forest go so close. Gonzalo Jara plays in the lively Jamie Mackie inside the box and his cross, thumped and hard and low, hits Simon Cox before going just past the beaten Simon Eastwood's post. Hosts on top. 9 mins. 0-0.

3:06pm

Andy Reid free kick, whipped in left-footed from the right-flank, finds Greg Halford in a crowded box, but his header is misdirected and sails halmlessly wide. 6 mins. 0-0.

3:04pm

First save of the game goes to the recalled Simon Eastwood, palming aside David Vaughan's stinging 25-yard left-footed strike. 5 mins. 0-0.

3:03pm

Rudy Gestede may be should have passed there. He robbed the ball off Greg Halford from just inside the area and instead of crossing, he decided to try his luck with a curling shot from a very difficult angle. 3 mins. 0-0.

3:00pm

We are under way.

2:57pm

So the teams in full are...

Forest: Darlow, Jara, Halford, Collins, Harding, Vaughan, Lansbury, Mackie, Paterson, Reid, Cox. Subs: de Vries, Moussi, Majewski, Derbyshire, Abdoun, Henderson, Miller.

Rovers: Eastwood, Henley, Dann, Hanley, Spurr, Lowe, Williamson, Cairney, Taylor, Marshall, Gestede. Subs: Kean, Kilgallon, King, Dunn, Rhodes, Morris, Goodwillie.

2:57pm

Forest, who are four points above eighth-placed Rovers in fifth, have made four changes to the team which started their 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers last Saturday.

Their bench includes former Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire.

2:55pm

Rovers will be without goalkeeper Paul Robinson – while top scorer Jordan Rhodes is deemed only fit enough for a place on the bench.

Robinson came off at half-time in Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Manchester City with a hamstring strain and is expected be out for a week.

He has been replaced between the posts by Simon Eastwood.

Rhodes (foot) and captain Scott Dann (groin) missed the Etihad Stadium encounter.

But while Dann returns to the starting line-up, in place of Matt Kilgallon, Rhodes will start as a substitute having not trained this week.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer’s third and final change sees Rudy Gestede come in for DJ Campbell who, amid reports he is interesting Millwall, is not in the squad.

Neither is Ruben Rochina whose loan move to La Liga Rayo Vallecano is believed to be edging closer.

2:54pm

Good afternoon and welcome to the City Ground for the battle of the play-off rivals, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers.

Lowe and Williamson in centre of midfield. What is it about these two that I'm not seeing? Lowe is technically very limited and can only pass a ball backwards and Williamson !!!! Where do I start. Cairney has to play in the middle surely nobody except GB can think otherwise.

Why take of Rudy for Jordan? Surely being 2-1 down we want to and push on for a goal. Should've took Lowe off and gone 4 3 3. King Gestede and Rhodes up top.

Poor team selection, poor substitutions. Poor midfield. We really need Cairney in the centre and once Corey Evans is back play him with Cairney. We just can't build a team around Lowe, he needs to be a squad player.

It would do, who gains confidence from a thrashing? We didn't even have the performance to go with it. No positives from the city game, no positives from today. What a shower of s**t. Today's result isn't going to boost the teams confidence either. 9 goals conceded in 2 games just isn't good enough. But as always with Rovers this season two steps forward one step back let's just look towards Derby and hope we can take maximum points. 3 from 6 wouldn't be a bad return anyway.

I take it back, not as strong a side as I thought.

Why GB persists with Williamson and Lowe in defensive midfield positions is beyond me, we only need one and Williamson simply isn't up to it, it leaves gaping holes in the middle and decent teams like Forest are going to take advantage.

20 minutes or so of constant pressure, two penalties and from what I can see heroics from Eastwood just about says it all.

Disappointed but to be honest I didn't expect much from today, which doubles the importance of the game against Derby.

Mind you it could be worse, we could be Bolton or Blackpool fans.

Looks like 'No Rhodes' FC are going to have to get used to these kind of results.

A 4-1 spanking on the back of shamefull Cup performance.

It's little wonder that players are queuing up to leave & Rhodes can't be ar£ed putting a shift in any more.

Mega!

Funny that managers can never see things that fans think are obvious, said it before the last game, we will never win matches with Williamson and Lowe together in midfield. Williamson is nowhere near good enough for Rovers, Playing Cairney wide right is criminal.

Hanley is a crude player, but he can do a good defensive job, however can someone find him a brain transplant, he continues to do stupid things at the worst times. Book Lowe in for the same operation.

Lots of matches left, lets hope GB can see the error of his midfield ways soon.

I've said it before and been slated for it but i'll say it again. Yes Bowyer has done a good job steadying the ship but I fear we are destined to finish in mid-table because of his negative tactics. Doncaster should have taken 2 points off us last week as we sat deeper and deeper and played with only one up front and never have anyone on the half way line when the opposition have a corner. One up front again today. Then when we need to get back into the game he swaps striker for striker and sticks to his tactics. We have a great opportunity to do what Forest and Derby are doing at the moment but Bowyer's negative tactics are holding us back. What happened at Leeds when he changed his tactics for a more attacking line-up? So annoying.

Or perhaps not.

What an absolute shambles you lot are. Calamity Kean now has competition for most useless goalkeeper in the Championship. Step forward Mr Eastwood.

Blackburn Rovers conceding 9 goals in two games, dropping a further 2 points away from the play-offs, and more importantly to you a massive 14 (FOURTEEN) points and 19 (NINETEEN) goals behind the Clarets.

And still they will back Bowyer, you couldn't make it up!

Keep up the good work Agent B.

Wasn't it just before Christmas you were a MASSIVE five points clear at the top? Now Leicester are a Massive 6 points clear of you. What's happened if the bubble hasn't burst ? A slow puncture has exactly the same effect in the long run.
Well done agent Charlie....keep up the good work.
