Blackburn Rovers duo Paul Robinson and Jordan Rhodes injury doubts for Nottingham Forest

This Is Lancashire: Paul Robinson Paul Robinson

BLACKBURN Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson and top-scorer Jordan Rhodes are injury doubts for Saturday’s Championship clash at play-off rivals Nottingham Forest.

Robinson came off at half-time in last night’s FA Cup third-round replay defeat at Manchester City with a hamstring problem.

The former England number one, while confident he will be fit to face Forest, is to undergo a scan to discover the extent of the injury.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said: “Paul Robinson is going to have a scan as a precaution to see the extent of it.

“At half-time he felt he could carry on a little bit longer.

“But we made the sensible decision to withdraw him.

“So we’ll get the results of the scans and see how he settles down.

“But he’s not ruled himself out for Saturday, that’s for sure.”

Bowyer was without both Rhodes (foot) and skipper Scott Dann (groin) for the 5-0 loss at quadruple-chasing City.

Bowyer, who is hopeful Dann will return on Saturday, said: “Contrary to reports that they were withdrawn because they were going to be sold, they were genuinely injured.

“Jordan has not trained this morning so we’ll see if he can join in tomorrow.”

Bowyer confirmed that he may name Ruben Rochina and David Goodwillie in his squad for the trip to the City Ground – even though the duo could be heading out of the club on loan.

Fit-again duo Corry Evans and Todd Kane will return to full training on Monday.

Be great to have Dann back for the Forest game - but with the generally good form of Gestade and Eastwood then we are in a position where we shouldn`t rush either Rhodes or Robbo back if they are not ready. We can take a point off Forest without either of them..

Typical no-dad resorting to the old tried and tested incest jibes to make himself feel better about the shambles his football club has become.

Mind the gap, its likely to be 16 points on Saturday evening...

What's with all this 'we can take a point off Forest' malarkey? It's one thing for everyone to be so defeatist before City away, but Forest? Whilst it's good to have a bit of realism and less moaning, we won't get promoted by travelling to play-off rivals hoping for a point!

Prefer Rochina to DJ and hope he gets some game time as it is a complete waste of talent to keep him on the bench. Also wouldn't mind Goodwillie getting a shout in place of DJ. It is time Best was brought in from the cold he has cost a fortune and we should be using him. How DJ is selected and Best not is baffling to me.

Good form of Eastwood??? Strange, maybe I in a minority here but Kean seems like the better keeper (if he can sort his awful kicking out). Do we believe JR's injury? I really hope so but until he plays again I'll reserve judgement.

It is actually good to have Dann back, can't quite believe I just said that!

I agree, we've no chance without Jordan Rhodes.
If only we were like Burnley and not reliant on just one payer.
What with Ings, Ings and Ings scoring all your goals, not to mention Danny Ings, you're so lucky. The fact Burnley have always kept hold of their best players and managers, not to mention being promoted in September, means it's only a matter of time before Burnley are back they belong, dominating Blackburn Rovers like they did for a couple of seasons back in 450AD.

How dare you! Not a massive club? Yes you are. You're the best supported town club in Europe and a far bigger club than Rovers. Any Burnley fan will tell you that you cheeky devil. Don't you know Burnley once took 100,000 to Wembley for the Sherpa Van Trophy final, where as Rovers only managed a pitiful 1,700 for the play off final in 92? It must be true because a dingle told me - and he should know, he's got a Burnley tattoo on his face.

You're getting all confused, 1700 was the home gate for quite a few matches around Christmas of the fateful 86/87 glory season at Bonli.
The selective memory type dingle will remember the 20,000 + they had on in last game, but forget to add the AVERAGE attendance that season was around 2200. Do the maths, not hard to work out plenty of home games had less than 2000 at t'uff.
They filled wembley on their own in 88, not a single wolves fan attended such a meaningless game, which was even more credit to them as they ran out 3-0 winners without anyone to cheer them on!
Their support is outstanding, have a look at home gates this season against teams that Rovers have also played at Ewood. Find me one where the dingles have been higher?
They love alluding to being a huge club, they're more interested in viewing and commenting on our pages (again check the numbers) and most importantly they still have that 34 year old millstone weighing heavy around their thick necks.
A club who's supporters are happy to be counted alongside cardiff and Millwall with their 'no one likes us' song are to be pitied rather than chastised for following a club that's won F all in the lifetime of most of their fans.

No problem giving Goodwillie a chance over Campbell if Gestede and or Rhodes aren't fit, he will at least put a shift in.

What's with all this 'we can take a point off Forest' malarkey? It's one thing for everyone to be so defeatist before City away, but Forest? Whilst it's good to have a bit of realism and less moaning, we won't get promoted by travelling to play-off rivals hoping for a point!
I am being positive - I always am - and a draw away at Forest would be a good result at anytime and would help us push-on towards the play-offs esp if we can follow that up with a win against Derby. Realistic not defeatist.
