Rovers aren't there to make up the numbers at City, says Taylor

This Is Lancashire: Chris Taylor Chris Taylor

FIRED-UP Blackburn Rovers midfielder Chris Taylor has warned Manchester City his side will not be FA Cup cannon fodder in tonight’s big third-round replay.

Free-scoring City are averaging almost four goals a game at home this season after netting an incredible 59 times in 15 matches. But Taylor insists underdogs Rovers are not going to the Etihad Stadium waiting to be thrashed.

He said: “We don’t want to go there just to make up the numbers.

“I know City have battered a few teams there this season and they could do it to us. “But we want to try and give them a game and if they do go through we will have at least made them work hard for it. “We don’t just to want to turn up and give it to them.”

Rovers are the only team to deny City victory in their last 10 games and Taylor added: “People may say I’m foolish but I think you’ve got to go there and pose a threat as otherwise you’ll just sit there and they will break you down eventually.

“The lads are full of confidence. We’ve started 2014 really well and we’ve already seen what City have to offer in the first game.

“While I think they have a few more gears to go through if they need them, I think we played really well.

“We stuck at it, played some good football and in the second half I thought we could have caused a big upset and knocked them out.”

Taylor has hailed tonight’s game as one of the biggest of his career – but not the biggest.

That came in the FA Cup last season when he was part of the Millwall team which went down 2-0 to eventual winners Wigan Athletic in the semi-finals at Wembley.

“It was an unbelievable experience and I’d love to get there again,” said Taylor, who joined Rovers from Millwall in the summer.

“There are always shocks in the FA Cup. Obviously we need Manchester City to not be at their best for us to have a chance of getting a result.

“But they’re in four competitions and that may mean they’ll need to rest a few players. “Hopefully that may cause a bit of dysfunction and we can take advantage.”

I'd look at it as training for your defence and trying to restrict them as much as possible while if you can, nicking a goal. Any result will be creditable as long as the effort and application is there. You did yourselves justice in the first leg, now enjoy your night and after that get ready for Forest. Good luck to you.

Whichever way it goes tonight as long as the team put in the effort to please the fans the result is irrelevant.
The game will be watched by many neutral fans who over the last three years have seen a team go from PL safety to Championship relegation fodder. Probably thinking there but for the grace of God go I! Now is the chance for the club to say to them, we are on our way back!

Morale at Blackburn Rovers is hanging by a thread as it is following such a shocking first half of the season. A thorough beating in the cup may well be the catalyst for Venky's to remove Bowyer from his position during the upcoming trip to India.

With games against Nottingham Forest and Derby on the horizon and the vultures circling around want-away Jordan Rhodes, Blackburn could well be looking over their shoulders before too long.

WLUVS....just for your information, the morale of the fans at the moment is probably as high as it has been for three years. As for a "shocking" first half of the season. Considering the turn over of players and their subsequent bedding in I think they have done extremely well and with the obvious improvement week on week by the end of the season I am confident that we will be in a position to turn you over at Wembley.

Yep and defeat tonight followed by defeats against Derby and Forest will see you all protesting about Mr Monotone Gary Bowyer's tactics etc, and the poor old bib and cone man will be forced to fall on his sword.

'Obvious improvement week on week? Have you forgotten about the crappy two home games a fortnight ago where you took one point in your two home games against Birmingham and Sheff Wed???

All you have done in League terms since is beat an absolute garbage Leeds side and scrape a home win over a practically already relegated Doncaster Rovers (Where you had both managers praising your keeper for keeping you in the match!!).

The only way you will be at Wembley this year is for your favourite Horse of The Year Show or as it's known in your parts - Miss Blackburn 2014.

Any result will be creditable as long as the effort and application is there. You did yourselves justice in the first leg, now enjoy your night and after that get ready for Forest. Good luck to you.
Morale at Blackburn Rovers is hanging by a thread as it is following such a shocking first half of the season. A thorough beating in the cup may well be the catalyst for Venky's to remove Bowyer from his position during the upcoming trip to India.

With games against Nottingham Forest and Derby on the horizon and the vultures circling around want-away Jordan Rhodes, Blackburn could well be looking over their shoulders before too long.
here we have another dingle dimwit
who thinks being three points of a playoff place is Rovers seson hanging by a thread and why on earth would venky's want to sack the manager
as for Forest and Derby I see nothing to to scare this rovers team
and the vultures circling around Jordan Rhodes, well the manager has said
and venkys have said that Jordan Rhodes doesn't have to be sold
I think the vultures circling around will be circling around danny ings anytime soon and you burnley fans need to remember be careful what you wish for
