Team news: Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers

This Is Lancashire: DJ Campbell in action at Leeds DJ Campbell in action at Leeds

DJ CAMPBELL will play for Blackburn Rovers for the first time since his arrest and subsequent bail by police probing spot-fixing allegations in football matches after he was named in Gary Bowyer’s starting line-up for today’s Championship clash at Leeds United.

Striker Campbell is one of three changes Rovers boss Bowyer has made to the team which started Sunday’s 3-2 home loss to Birmingham City.

Two are enforced as Jason Lowe is suspended while Adam Henley is rested as a precaution after playing five games in the space of three weeks after nine months out injured.

Ben Marshall will play right-back in place of Henley, a position the winger has played earlier in his career.

Chris Taylor and Rudy Gestede, along with Campbell, earn recalls.

It is expected that Gestede – who along with midfielder Tom Cairney is playing the last game of his loan spell – will start alongside Campbell and 15-goal top-scorer Jordan Rhodes in an adventurous three-man attack.

There is a place on the bench for highly rated 16-year-old Connor Mahoney, the boyhood Rovers supporter who joined from Accrington Stanley last month and who has made an instant impression at Brockhall.

Seventh-placed Leeds, who are four points and five places above Rovers in 12th, make two changes as Sam Byram and Alex Mowatt replace Lee Peltier and Michael Brown.

Leeds: Kenny, Lees, Zaliukas, Pearce, Byram, Mowatt, Murphy, Austin, Pugh, Smith, McCormack. Subs: Cairns, Peltier, Wootton, Ariyibi, Brown, Poleon, Varney.

Rovers: Eastwood, Marshall, Dann, Hanley, Spurr, Taylor, Williamson, Cairney, Gestede, Campbell, Rhodes. Subs: Kean, Kilgallon, King, Songo'o, Rochina, Judge, Mahoney.

Wow... gary... when we said you had no balls with your team selection you've taken it a bit far! This might have been good at home or when we are 3-0 down at half time but away vs leeds? We can only hope it pays off!
Kudos for the bravery though.

I think most rovers fans have cottoned onto that fact by now.

Three wins, a draw and a loss out of the last five games and it looks a lot better than it did a couple of days ago. Well done GB for being brave, Keep it up. I think the formation took Leeds by surprise today. Keep playing like this, positively, and taking it to the opposition and things could be much better in the new year.
No team has taken this league by the scruff of the neck this season. Nothing to fear from what I've seen so we can continue climbing the league. Two points off the play offs.

Great result! Ballsy team selection from GB & two points off the play off positions going into the new year. Some of the comments on here regarding GB's position were a disgrace last week & the booing after the sheff wed game was totally unjustified. I was too annoyed to even post. Keep up the good work GB, some shrewd business in January and a bit of luck on the park will see us challenging for the top 6 come may. The best we could have hoped for after the last 3 seasons and all in spite of the bunch of spoilt brats we call our supporters. Darwen end for me next season, the blackburn end is dead.

Why don't you make a New Year's resolution to try to enjoy the wins as much as you seem to drool over the defeats.
Nobody is getting carried away, least of all the ones who actually watch, after all, they've witnessed first hand the failings of this team.
But what's the point of watching football if you can't enjoy the wins when they come along?

Yours was one of the most sensible posts after the Birmingham game as usual. It's important to not get carried away win or lose. Just because teams are below us or above us doesn't mean we should or should not win, that's not how it works! A lot of people on here seem to forget that. Good result today and keeps us with the chasing pack.

If you lot are struggling to secure Tom Cairney, surely the best way if funds are limited is to negotiate a nominal fee and give Hull a big sell-on clause, say up to 75%. If he has any potential they'll get their wedge eventually and maybe more than they would now. Blackburn would be in control of the players destiny so all would be reasonably happy.

Wrong about Gary having no cojones I meant
And you still complain when he does go for it ( see your first line Max)
I don't think it was balls-less either against Brum, I think 3 individual errors much like the one today, were the cause of the goals.
I am not picking a fight with you but it is too easy to fling blanket criticism. at GB
Today GB showed his critics (the ones on here) that he has got balls, he has got tactical nous, and above all he can motivate the team and make the right call
Will he make the right call every time? Probably not but he can develop and develop the team given time..so I would like to see an end to the change the manager nonsense

This might have been good at home or when we are 3-0 down at half time but away vs leeds? We can only hope it pays off! Kudos for the bravery though.[/p]
Whats with the we? it was you And you were wrong :-) Still did it the hard way though, inconsistency stalks us but a good start to the New Year Well done GB[/p]
I was wrong? How do you figure that? The starting lineup vs brum was ballsless and we were 3-0 down at half time. Bowyer played a single defensive mid today and we won... I think most rovers fans have cottoned onto that fact by now. I just hope bowyer doesn't revert to two when Lowe comes back. We've got the squad to play attacking footie, its upto bowyer to put the right formation out![/p]
Wrong about Gary having no cojones I meant And you still complain when he does go for it ( see your first line Max) I don't think it was balls-less either against Brum, I think 3 individual errors much like the one today, were the cause of the goals. For clarity, I never stated that I would not refer to Dullard David in posts. I stated that I would not respond directly to his posts as the LET are concerned about his fragile state of mind and afraid that my mild rebukes might be construed by some as bullying. I am happy to comply as there is no sport in shooting ducks in a barrel.

Well done Rovers and GB!
I did say earlier this week that we would probably go and win at Leeds today! But have to admit it was more in hope than expectation. As for expectations I guess there will be folks on here that think we can do City in the cup now....not a chance of that happening though as City seem pretty much invincible at the moment - just hope we have a real good go at them!

We seem to play better when the odds are stacked against us. Another Rovers line up similar to today will be rquired if we are to stand any chance and City may rest a few of their first team players. Not impossible.

You lot are at it again. Will you never learn ? One win and we're going to be champions. Slow down, they flatter to deceive, don't you know? It'll be the slough of despond again when Venkys cash in on Rhodes.
