YOUNG Blackburn Rovers defender Anthony O’Connor never hesitated in extending his loan at Torquay United despite their perilous position at the bottom of League Two.
O’Connor, 21, will remain at Plainmoor until New Year’s Eve – and he couldn’t be happier.
He said: “All I’m thinking about is helping Torquay to turn this around and get up the table.
“Football can change so quickly and one win can change everything. One win can turn into three.”
O’Connor, pictured above, has proved a big hit with Gulls fans. Fresh from being voted Torquay’s player of the month for November, he said: “It was an easy decision for me to stay here.
“I’m just enjoying playing at the moment and I’m in good form. I feel I owe something to the club, for giving me the chance to play regular first-team football.
“I just want to stay and help the club to get out of trouble.”
O’Connor has another 18 months left on his contract at Rovers but he is settling into life on the English Riviera having moved down with his partner Sinead and 10-month old son Anthony Jr.
