BLACKBURN Rovers legend Alan Shearer has called for ‘zero tolerance’ for anyone found guilty of fixing during football matches.
Six people, including Rovers striker DJ Campbell, were arrested on Sunday over fixing allegations and have been bailed until April.
Campbell was quizzed by National Crime Agency officers and it is understood that the incident under scrutiny was a yellow card the forward received for a tackle in Rovers’ recent Championship fixture at Ipswich Town.
Shearer told BBC Radio Five Live: “You are never going to stop betting but you have to stop the people inside.
“It just cannot happen. If anyone is found guilty then there should be zero tolerance.”
