STRIKER DJ Campbell played for seven professional clubs before joining Blackburn Rovers, initially on loan at the start of the year before making the move permanent in the summer.

He started his career at Aston Villa as a trainee. He was not offered professional terms so, in 2000, joined non-league side Chesham United before later signing for Conference club Stevenage Borough, where he scored four goals in 24 appearances.

Campbell played at Billericay Town before making his name at Yeading, where he scored 83 goals in 109 appearances in all competitions.

That prompted a move into the professional ranks and he joined Brentford on an initial one-year contract in June 2005 for £5,000.

After seven months at the club, Campbell made the step up to the top flight after being signed by Birmingham for a fee of £500,000.

The club was relegated in May 2006 and, playing in the Championship as a substitute, he scored against Burnley with his first touch in the 82nd minute, helping the Blues to a 2-1 win.

But after making more appearances for the club as a sub than a starter, Campbell signed a four-year deal with Leicester, in a transfer worth £1.6 million.

He made a total of 32 league appearances, and scored away at Chelsea in the League Cup.

In January 2008, Campbell moved to Blackpool on a loan deal, and was the Seasiders’ top scorer with nine goals.

Two more loan spells – at Derby and Blackpool for a second time – followed.

After making four more appearances for Leicester in 2010, Campbell signed a permanent deal with Blackpool.

After Blackpool were relegated from the Premier League, they accepted an offer of £1.2 million for Campbell from Queens Park Rangers but he spent time on loan with Ipswich as he struggled to make the breakthrough at Loftus Road.

He then joined Rovers but has yet to find the net for them and was sent off earlier this season at Blackpool.
