Team news: QPR v Blackburn Rovers

BLACKBURN Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has made the decision to drop goalkeeper Jake Kean for this afternoon’s Championship clash at title-chasing QPR.

Kean has paid the price for a number of individual errors, the latest of which came in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Ipswich Town.

The 22-year-old has been replaced between the posts by Simon Eastwood.

It will be Eastwood’s first league appearance for Rovers since signing from League Two outfit Portsmouth in the summer.

Eastwood is one of four changes made by Bowyer.

Adam Henley takes the place of suspended right-back Todd Kane.

It will be the fit-again Henley’s first appearance since March.

Kane, like Kean, had previously been an ever present.

Ben Marshall and Chris Taylor, meanwhile, replace Josh King and DJ Campbell.

Marshall, having impressed after coming off the bench against Ipswich, will be making his first start since October 19.

Taylor, the man of the match in the 1-0 home win over Leeds United last Saturday, returns after missing the Ipswich match with personal reasons.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has made one change to the side that started the 3-0 home victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday as Matt Phillips is preferred to Gary O’Neil.

The Hoops – who are unbeaten at home in the league, having won eight and drawn one of their nine games at Loftus Road – include former Rovers winger Junior Hoilett in their starting line-up.

QPR: Green, Simpson, Hill, Dunne, Assou-Ekotto, Phillips, Barton, Carroll, Hoilett, Austin, Johnson. Subs: Murphy, Traore, Onuoha, Jenas, Kranjcar, Henry, O’Neil.

Rovers: Eastwood, Henley, Dann, Hanley, Spurr, Lowe, Williamson, Cairney, Taylor, Marshall, Rhodes. Subs: Kean, Kilgallon, King, Dunn, Campbell, Rochina, Judge.

Interesting selections, I am never sure about Williamson, would have much preferred Dunn, but I hope he plays a blinder.

You need to get down to the bookies then.

Best and Campbell haven't exactly set the world alight when they have played have they? Both have more bookings and sending offs than goals and both are up and down more than a brides nightie.

Rochina isn't fit, I really hope Henley is because he is the one who is going to have to cope with Junior.

Would have preferred Dunny to Williamson but Taylor was man of the match against Leeds and deserves his place, maybe Marshall as well.

So, lets see what happens, we have to get something away from home, eventually!

All true Rovers fans would be delighted if we achieve promotion to the Premiership this season, but will not be too shocked if we don’t. We have to face the brutal fact that Rovers, at best, are an average team. This is borne out from erratic performances and results each week. GB has a huge task on his hands to select a settled team who can be relied upon to get Rovers up and running to start the new year with a fresh impetus and instill a must win attitude in every game. Why, we might ask, if Rochina, and Best are fit to play, they are not given a game? Rochina is a proven player of great skill and ability. Best, from all accounts is ‘difficult’ to handle, but again he is a good player and an asset to the team. Come on GB be bold, you have it in your hands to turn things around by choosing a team with a little bit of flair, drive, and a will to win. Go for broke.

Best isn't interested and Rochina might as well be made of glass.

The opposition know if you push Best around for a bit he disappears and keep Rochina from shooting with his left peg and jobs a good un.

I agree, Best thinks he is far better than he is and much too good for Rovers and this league, hopefully there will be someone with more money than sense will take him off our hands during the window.

Rochina simply isn't fit and wont bee for several weeks judging by what I have seen of him.

And that's why he is the manager and not you, Rovers have pulled out an excellent result today getting a point that few honestly expected.
Maybe you should give GB a bit of credit then go back to your play station.

As I said earlier in the week, this team is good enough to stay in the division, but not good enough to mount a promotion campaign. GB has stabilised the club, he just needs to be a bit more adventurous. A good point away, a clean sheet but perhaps with a little bit more effort it could have been all three. The reports said that the Rovers were on top for large periods of the game. Proven by Rednapps use of his subs to try and change events.
Anyway, overall a good day. Even if it meant we helped Burnley back up to the top.

Hopefully the pretend Dingle trolls will keep quiet as we effectively have put them back on top, but as they struggled to beat Barnsley I still think they will slide over the Xmas fixtures
But I dont care, just glad we have kept a clean sheet away at last

Hi WR...two weeks running and no need to kick the cat! Things must be looking up. Interesting to see we have another good keeper in the making. One thing Rovers have been good at over the years.
True, Ipswich was a blip but maybe we needed it to allow GB to show he can get tough.
I have thought things improving since GB came in, slow but steady. Sure there have been setbacks and there will be more. But we are going the right way
As for keepers , well the first one I remember is Fred Else, so yeah, we have done well if you go through the list from there!

Fred Else...took over from Harry Leyland, my first goalkeeper. Built like a barn door. Wore a flat cap, big thick green jersey and frightened the day lights out of centre forwards. Watched Fred Else play for Barrow the day Mike Ferguson got himself sent of against Coventry at home Easter Saturday and cost us the chance of promotion 1967. Never forget that day.

Leyland, Bray, Whelan, Clayton, Woods, McGrath, Bimpson, Dobing, Dougan, Douglas, McCleod.

I can remember that team from the 60's but can't remember what happened last week....lol.

Good results for both are clubs today, particularly Rovers, but we are playing second fiddle to Burnley again this year, who are having a great year under the astute managership of Sean Dyche, credit where it is due.

Sussed? I think so"

Sorry Wild Rover, I promise it will never happen again. There's me thinking I was simply expressing my views. Gosh how silly of me, please forgive.

And that's why he is the manager and not you, Rovers have pulled out an excellent result today getting a point that few honestly expected.
Maybe you should give GB a bit of credit then go back to your play station.
Sorry ‘greengrocer’ you appear to have (deliberately) missed the point of my posting. Yes, today’s result is welcome. My comments were based on Rovers season so far, and I gave my comments as I saw it. I think I and others are allowed to express our opinions without fear of being told to go play with our ‘toys’.

Tell you what, I will go play with my ‘toys’ if you promise to stop ‘playing’ with yourself.
Fear, really ? You want to give up the trolling game if that scared you.

No Brownie points for figuring out my ’sign on name’ any school boy could have done that. Lets see, there are 10 letters in my ’sign on name’, yep that’s about the level of your I.Q. Sussed - I think so. Game, set, and match.
