Bruce in Cairney dilemma
HULL City boss Steve Bruce has not ruled out dashing Blackburn Rovers’ hopes of keeping hold of on-loan star Tom Cairney.
Rovers manager Gary Bowyer has made it clear he wants to retain Cairney’s services once his six-month loan from the Premier League outfit runs out in January.
But Bruce said: “I’m certainly not dismissing him because I know he’s a good player.
“It’s in my mind to possibly bring him back in January.”
Cairney has become an important member of Rovers’ midfield since arriving in August.
Bruce is not surprised at how he is performing.
The former Manchester Untied defender said: “I’ve spoken with Gary (Bowyer) at length a couple of times in the last few weeks.
“He rings me and I ring him just to see how Tom is doing.
“He’s doing very well, just as I thought he would.
“He’s always one of them that’s got great ability and it was a matter of time once he started playing regularly.”
Cairney was part of the Hull squad that won promotion from the Championship last season.
