Dunn admits derby defeat is 'unthinkable'

By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
DAVID Dunn admits the prospect of a derby defeat is “unthinkable” as he urges Blackburn Rovers to use the hurt of their FA cup heartbreak to keep their Burnley record intact.
The Rovers midfielder was in tears at the end of Wednesday’s quarter final defeat to Millwall, admitting that was his last chance of playing at Wembley, and knows more than most the importance of responding with a victory over their fiercest rivals.
Dunn, a Rovers fan from childhood, is likely to make his fifth start of the season in tomorrow’s visit of Burnley knowing his club go into the game having not lost to the Clarets for 34 years.
He also admits Rovers’ Championship finale could be his final games for the club, with his contract out this summer, but is still hopeful he can do enough to extend his stay.
He said: “I wouldn’t like to even think about that (defeat). It is a massive game for us as was Wednesday night. We had two cup finals and have had a real kick in the backside and it is how we react and how positive we can become. “We need to make that a driving force behind how positive we can be on Sunday. “The Burnley game is the biggest derby for our club out there. It is one we have done very well in in recent years and hopefully that continues on Sunday.
“One thing is for sure we are going to have to show a lot of fight and some composure and confidence to play football.
“Being a local lad, I know I am a Blackburn supporter and a Blackburn player, but I have many friends on the other side as well.
“For every bit of stupidity on the terraces you might see, you would probably say most people, 90 per cent, are usually pals that work and socialise together.”
Dunn was one of the few bright sparks for Rovers on Wednesday night as Michael Appleton’s men saw their Wembley dream disappear.
And the 33-year-old admits the pain of the 1-0 defeat to Millwall is difficult to put behind him.
He said: “I am still disappointed. I was upset and disappointed after the game. I am just gutted, personally. Realistically, it will probably be my last chance to play at Wembley. I could get choked up now just thinking about it.
“Before the game I promised my little boy I would take him to Wembley but unfortunately it wasn’t to be. That is probably my last chance of getting to play there, I realise that and I hope that everyone else realises that might be their last chance as well. I hope that everyone is in agreement with that.
“Certainly games come thick and fast. As footballers we can’t really think too much about what happened and we have to move on.”
Dunn’s Rovers future remains uncertain with his current contract expiring in the summer but he insists he is focusing on finishing the season well.
He said: “I hope this season won’t be the end at Rovers for me. If you look over the last few years what has happened, realistically do I have to look to the future? I probably do.
“The only thing I know I can do is try my best, try to perform the best of my ability and if I play the remainder of the season and prove I am worth another season then great. “One door closes and another one opens though, who knows what the future will bring.
“One thing I will say though is if it is, I have had some time here. I have had a whole lot of support from everyone in the town and am truly grateful for the support they have shown me.
“I know I sound like it is a curtain call, it isn’t but you know how things move in football, I wouldn’t not want to say that to people before anything happens.
“I still have the enthusiasm and drive and feel I can make an impact in whatever game I play in. I hadn’t played for six weeks but I certainly felt I was still one of the freshest people out there.”

Dunny for England!
The lad is Rovers through and through....lets hope he can lead the team onto yet another victory over the claret monkeys. With Dunny on the pitch and in the dressing room there is No danger of anyone in a blue and white shirt tomorrow not knowing what it means to the town and to all Rovers fans to hammer the scum again......35 years and counting.
Whatever as hampered the guy throughout his career does not faze my outlook on his fantastic ability that as shone out like a beacon in a B&W shirt.
We are going to need folk like him in our club these coming years in my estimation ?
Dunny, I too was crying floods of tears with you at the final whistle at the inept display witnessed by the 8000. Tomorrow you can put the steel and resolve back into our beloved, but beleaguered club.
Over to Mr. Dunn.
Get it done.
No fear.

Sack Appleton and get rid of those overated and overpaid prima donna footballers.
Why do we have to turn up at Ewood Park with all the rubbish football played lying bottom of the Championship.
How many games has David Dunn played this year ? five or ten ? rest he was on sicknote, in private industry he would have been sacked.
Rhodes just a overated Championship player
Best didn't contribute anything this season
Dunn a long term liability with long term absenteeism
Pederson a player too old and out of form
Scott Dann a player just not consistent makes too many mistakes in defence
Murphy old age pensioner need to hang up his boots
Goodwillie should have been sold not good enough in English League
Etuhu another rubbish buy just not good enough to play for Rovers
There are only some player were consistant through this season
Olsson twins
Grant Hanley
Jason Lowe
Kazim Richards
Adam Henley
then there was Ruben Rochina he was our best player this season and Appleton loaned him out.
BRFC wont get out this league this year or next year with this rubbish squad.
Clear out the lot of them and build a new squad for next season with some young talented players.

Sicknote Dunny and his pals on Premiership Wages should hang their heads in the sands.Rovers lying bottom of the table in 18th position.

poor team
poor tactics
poor management
poor midfield yet again
MA.... the problem with....!!
'' A study of Neanderthal skulls suggests that they went extinct because they had larger eyes than our species.
As a result, more of their brain was devoted to seeing in the long, dark nights in Europe, at the expense of high-level processing. ''
Its quite obvious MA cant do it in the long run for BRFC....!
MA can def. see in the long dreary dark night's with his big bulging eyes which is obvious but can he see us through.....!!!!
but the vital question is can he process the info out there which is plain to see for all and come up with an action plan and see us through to the end of this season and beyond....!
I doubt it.....!!!
thats 7 defeats already and counting.
MA is a gonner if we lose against Burnley....!!
A new set of youngish, hard working, physically fit, skillfull Midfielders required at BRFC.
what do you think...?????
2 great servants will have to Retire.
Pederson is just too slow PLZ retire
Dunn played well tonight but def in his last season and well be lucky if he plays a couple of games.
sorry is just too fat...PLZ retire..!
Hanley is slow but tries his utmost to do a decent job.
but not good enough for long term.
His thinking is also slow and hes simply not good enough as a 1st team player but ok to have in BRFC squad.
Lowe is slow slow but tries his utmost
best & should be ok as a squad member and occasional sub but not 1st team material in my view.
Marcus olson is like a fairy lightweight
only need to blow on him and he falls
Murthy, Etuhu, Orr, Givet, Robinson
and any other causing BRFC issues should leave asap...PLZ
so we can buy players who will play for the BRFC badge....!
not just here for money....!!
Dann is not the ideal captain
Infact we have no captain at BRFC
hence we need to find a strong central defensive partner for Dann
who should be a capable central defender & could be a potential captain.
and
a midfield general or 2 who we need as leaders in the middle as thats our problem area and a capable ball winning captain in the centre should sort things out.....for sure...!!
what do you think...!!!!
