FULL TIME: Millwall 0 Blackburn Rovers 0

BLACKBURN Rovers will face Millwall in a replay at Ewood Park on Wednesday after today’s FA Cup quarter final finished goalless at the Den.

Millwall came close to opening the scoring in the first half as Liam Trotter curled a shot wide and Rob Hulse then had a goal disallowed for a foul on Jake Kean from a corner.

The home team were then inches from going 1-0 ahead as Andy Keogh’s header came back off the inside of the post.

But Rovers, who lost Adam Henley and then replacement Bradley Orr to injury, threatened more after the interval and Jordan Rhodes fired an angled effort just over the bar.

Kean had to keep out Danny Shittu’s powerful 40-yard shot at the other end, before Hulse missed the target when he looked set to score from Keogh’s centre.

Rovers though also came close to winning the tie as Josh King’s header hit the post.

The replay will take place this Wednesday at 7.45pm.

Rovers: Jake Kean, Adam Henley (Bradley Orr 36, David Dunn 48), Scott Dann, Grant Hanley, Markus Olsson, David Bentley, Jason Lowe, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Josh King (Nuno Gomes 87), Leon Best, Jordan Rhodes. Subs not used: Greg Sandomierski, Gael Givet, Karim Rekik, David Goodwillie.

Murphy has not been consistent but he would have string a few passes today than ineffective Pederson, Bentley and others. Good display by Dann, and Hanley. Also Rhodes and Best worked their socks off. Only problem is where is the next goal coming with Appleton in charge. Poor tactics and management in last half a dozen games.

No shortage of effort and good defence but poor in possession it has to be said. Good to see Dunny running at opposition defences again but apart from that pretty poor in attack. Long ball long ball. Still, in the hat, and it would be a terrific achievement to get to the semis.

Why is it these venky`s still allow for a inexperience manager , most of our problems could of been sorted like every one is saying and can see with us .We need somebody with tatic`s a game plan ,plan b when things are`nt going our way.Really painful to watch can`t see it getting any better for a long time not even next season.
God this was a chance to play at wembley and stake a place.

Dunne made a difference when he came on, still no method, just keep pumping the ball up field and hope for a lucky bounce is all the method the teams got, not good enough we might struggle at Ewood.

Not pretty but I'll take a place in the semi-final draw. Dunny was the best player when he came on. Nice to see some creativity for a change. Oh, and let's shove the Millwall supporters in the upper tier of the Darwen End come Wednesday.

after the glory years rovers for a long time had the build up play to match alot of teams, but didnt have the firepower and finishers, now they have finishers but the build up play isnt there

do these players actually watch how good teams attack, do they make observation and good note down new things youve might not noticed if you are casually watching a game, see why their approach works and theirs keep faltering, it seems these players make it appear at times as though they dont have a clue and merely fumbling their way through the game, all they know is Jordan Rhodes scores lots of goals, so kick it to him and something might happen, from my point of view they should play as if they dont have that fninshing ability and play the ball into him if the right chance arrives and everyone should be prepared to take the attack to the oppositon when their opportunity arises, be prepared,.

It would have been kinder to put rovers out of their misery today than to put us through it again. Those just wanting to be in the hat for a day out at wembley must be getting their positivity from somewhere outside ewood. There will be nothing enjoyable about watching 90 minutes of that tripe and getting thrashed by Utd or City or worse by Wigan. Appleton had better get his act together before next sunday because although I can accept losing to Burnley under our current dire circumstances I won't accept us waving the white flag at them

The positives are that we have stopped the losing run and kept a clwan sheet. Also who expected to see Josh King back and a good performance from Dunny. In the draw for the semis but with work to do in Wednesday. For the remainder of the league season a centre pairing of Dunn (if he can stay fit) and Jones with Bentley and King on the flanks and we may just see some balance finally. Any news on the injuries at right back although I think that is probably Lowes best position?

Are people really that fickle as to wish that Murphy was playing? And criticising Appleton? Bizarre.

Murphy has been pants all season and definitely hasn't been worthy of captaincy, that said we've been wanting him to be our focal point which he's never been! He's always been surrounded by quality up until now. Again, he's still not earned his wages.

And Appleton...what do you want from him?! Beautiful, fast flowing attacking football from average players? Ridiculous. A club in pieces on it's fifth manager, with dwindling negative fans, still trying to recover from the damage done by kean and venkys! Its an achievement what he's done so far with kean's players, promotion was a dream, even redknapp couldn't have achieved it with us this season.
Appleton has said how bad it was when he arrived, he needs time to repair and build. Everyone should be backing him and calling for a new manager is insane

Really are down to bare bones and I thinked it showed at Millwall

Best King and Dunn were way off match fitness but each put a good shift in.

A clean sheet and really only two clear chances created spoke well bearing in mind we were outnumbered and outplayed in midfield for long periods of the game

Start again on Wednesday and another clean sheet will do for a start

Well said, phew thought I was on my own again
@Angry Accy , so Appy is so negative that he played 2 strikers and 2 wingers, 442 as clamoured for by the Negative Times brigade
It did not work because Kenny in the Jacket played 451 and left us once again short in the middle
As we have been for the last two years...not Appys fault, Dave Jones cup tied so no plan B.
We were better 2nd half with Dunny on but he is not up to 90 mins, also last ten he put Gomes on
So if you actually watched the game you would know we were not negative, but you dont let facts get in the way of a moan do you?
Granted it was all thud and blunder between 2 poor Championship sides but neither team nor either manager was negative

He's given all the players a chance to prove themselves, tried to keep a consistent team and tried to get them all working for each other. He had enough of Murphy and is trying different midfield combinations. Will Dunny be the answer? Maybe but probably not. Appleton is struggling with this tired squad. Give him a chance. He has to find out out who really can create and work hard and do what he tells them at the same time as not chopping and changing every week which would ruin confidence.

Just back from The Den. Millwall were very poor, but they were far better than Rovers and totally dominated the match from start to finish. Rovers are extremely lucky to come away with a draw. In a word they were shocking.
The Rovers fans were fantastic easily out singing the home supporters and giving Rovers the greatest encouragement. Sadly, they were rewarded with the most insipid performance possible from the gormless Appleton and a team who had absolutely no plan whatsoever to win the game. If there was a plan it was give it to Kean to lump up the field and then what, hope it rebounds in of someone while their goal keeper is lighting a cigar or something. Shocking, absolutely shocking. No, worse, disgusting. Rovers deserve to play in front of an empty stadium. Kean was our best player by far, a commendable performance, followed by Dunn; Rhodes was ok especially bearing in mind the dismal support he got; the rest were utter sh1te.
The worst performance of the lot was the managers. Rovers basic problems are that they cannot pass the ball to each other and that they have no game plan. What in God's name do you do all day at the training ground?
Prepare to go out of the cup next Wednesday. Millwall, as poor as they are, have seen how dreadfully inadequate Rovers are and they will be relishing the trip to Ewood.

We had a bit of good fortune today but came back late on to almost snatch what would have been a rather fortunate victory.
Sadly the midfield is not good enough with two playing on the wing who are just not wingers and Lowe is much better at full back. It was telling when our rather overweight Dunny came on we looked so much better. He was class and I don't care if I get slated for that. I just wish the lad could lose a couple of stone as he is still a good Rover.
Two wins this week will do nicely although I did lose a tenner with the Bolton result so perhaps I should shut up.

Full marks to the travelling fans. I really enjoyed the non-stop stick they gave our hosts.

do these players actually watch how good teams attack, do they make observation and good note down new things youve might not noticed if you are casually watching a game, see why their approach works and theirs keep faltering, it seems these players make it appear at times as though they dont have a clue and merely fumbling their way through the game, all they know is Jordan Rhodes scores lots of goals, so kick it to him and something might happen, from my point of view they should play as if they dont have that fninshing ability and play the ball into him if the right chance arrives and everyone should be prepared to take the attack to the oppositon when their opportunity arises, be prepared,.
Appleton may be a disaster technically and tactically but apparently he does talk a lot of sense.
You are so very boring. Must send people hiding when you open your mouth.

Genuine admiration for your commitment to the cause and your opinion is therefore worth far more than armchair fans and stay away season ticket holders like myself. Your voice deserves to be heard and those who still believe that Appleton is worthy of the managerial role at this club need to look closely at your assessment. He recruits the players, he picks the team, he calls the tactics and should be motivating throughout. He is clearly lacking in all departments and I thank you for highlighting this so vividly. I have a feeling that Wednesday might just be his last match.

Perhaps the stewards thought you didn't look capable of finding a seat on your own. Just to repeat I am staying in London so when you are "just north of Birmingham" I have long been back to where I am going. Why is it beyond your imagination to understand that not everyone who attends a Rovers away game goes straight back to north east Lancashire as soon as the game is over. God only knows what you are hurrying back to.
And by the way I've been going to Rover's games since the 1950's.
So f@ck off. When you get further north do us all a favour and just keep going. Scotland is the place for a lumpen cretin like you.

Hi Andyam BRFC

To start with....

Get rid of Appleton for starters.

I am sick of the guy - Outsmarted, Outwitted and Outmanoeuvered yet again.

I would not trust Appleton with rebuilding our beloved team.

Great paragraph from Freedman from Bolton on BBC website - I knew he would come to get a draw but the team would tire in last 20 minutes - What does Freedman do but put Chris Eagles and C Davies on.

What does clueless (and his non existent backroom staff) do to counteract this...... You have guessed absolutely nothing. Givet should have come on and made up a back three to secure the draw.

Today - We know we have an ineffectual midfield, (we even got overrun at Bolton midweek - yes Jones did try his heart out - so he knew fine well what was needed today) so he thinks we can go to Millwall and play two in central midfield. He is absolutely clueless.

Pointless playing two up front if you cannot even win the midfield battle and get the ball to wide positions. Chelsea today scored their second and all of their midfield three were just on or in front of their own 18 yard line yet all three were up in attack a few seconds later when they scored.

That's a hard working but SKILLFUL midfield.

Kenny Jacket plays 4 / 5 / 1 knowing our frailties. Again what did Appleton (and yes his backroom staff need to be implicated as well) do to nullify this threat. Nothing.

He has had long enough.

All I can say is that they must be giving the UEFA Coaching Licence out to anyone these days for Kean and Appleton must be the two worst examples of graduates I can care to mention.

In fact the whole course should be looked into because if muppets like these have qualified it must not be worth the paper it is written on!!!!!!!!

Went to the game today. What a load of cr@p! The sole tactic seemed to be to hoof the ball down the middle and hope for a flick on. I don't think I counted 3 successive passes in the first half. Josh King was a disgrace to the shirt - no tackling, no running off the ball, no enthusiasm.

To be fair, Dunn's introduction improved things a bit but we still looked very poor. It's just as well that Millwall are a poor team too.

As somebody said after the game "It was all a bit thud and blunder!"

Hopefully Wednesday night will see an improvement.

Shaw Agnew and Coar I am presuming are equally as clueless (and getting away with no criticism for the turn of events) for thinking he was a suitable manager in the first place.

What hold does Shaw have on Coar and Agnew for convincing them that clown Appleton was the man in the first place.

what a crap game - it is the first time i have watched rovers or have been interested for months - apparently the worst two sides on form in the championship and it showed. Pedersen was crap four years ago he really is **** now cannot pass a ball or take free kicks why is he still at rovers or even a pro at this level. i hope the game on wednesday is not on telly it will be awful again. a mention though for dunny played bloody well and got some biting tackles in and for scott dann was our best player by far. but king who is he was he interested i think not. well hoping for better wednesday but think , not very poor attendance because people have no spare money unless it is a fiver a ticket. well rovers win 1-0 in a terrible game roll on wigan who are beatable in a one off. then again , if millwall win we might as well pack up and go home.

we def need some better players especially across the midfield and central defense.

A new midfield x 3-4 players
especially central midfield.

what do you think..??
Think you might have got your Hanley's and your Henley's mixed up.

Appleton on TV tonight "delighted with the performance my players put in."
Dear, dear me. No wonder we are in the mess we are in. I would hate to witness how poor a performance would have to be for him to be a little bit critical.
The guy is an embarrassment to our club and is utterly clueless just like his backroom staff and the cohort of Shaw Agnew and Coar who lets not forget went crying off to Venkys to get their own way and look what their great ambitions has led to.

We now also have the smallest, most lightweight set of players I think I have ever known at the Rovers.

Can you ever imagine some of our past players needing a referee to stop us from being picked on!!!!!!!!!

Appleton has to go.

This is not a club for an apprentice to be learning his trade - and so badly at that.

the reason in my opinion why we are so 's.....' in the championship is we don't have the midfield to cope with championship pressures.

Championship football is a different ball game and actually in my opinion prem. players don't necessarily make good championship players.

We need a complete midfield.
x 3 /4 players
The only way we can stand up and be counted in the championship is if we have the right physically strong players.
strong, physical, box to box ..etc..
but also we need hard as nails humans,
we need fighting dogs of war,
we need lion heart warriors,
we need the Battys,
we need snarling Sounesses
we need bad boys who will rip chunks out of opposition and shred them to bits.

we need the championship to be scared of BRFC because at the moment everyone knows how soft BRFC are especially in the midfield areas.

Very...very pooor

which impacts greatly on the poor defense giving them extra pressure making them look even worse
and the strikers who get few if any chances because of no link up play from midfield.

but it will only mean more games for us and with the current squad injuries I'm not sure we can cope.

I think for certs....we will not be going up for sure this season...!

Knock the following off for they will not be at Rovers after two further transfer windows...(most will have get out clauses written into their contracts) most likely disrupting us at the start or half way through next season

Kean
Olsson
Hanley
Dann
Rhodes
CKR

and that is just for starters and if you think Clown Appleton has the clout to go to top premiership clubs to seek loan / permanent players think again.

Talksport when talking about Rovers midweek could not even remember Appletons first name.

Oh how can I forget such a revelation perhaps the young computer whiz kid (with the data base of all players) that the clown has brought with him from Portsmouth has a long list of fantastic players / loanees just waiting in the wings for us to sign.

Somehow unless they are from Portsmouth or West Brom U18s I very much doubt it, for that's what Moore will bring in next for he is such an influential person as well.

How lucky as a club we are to have such esteemed personnel!!

If we don't go up this season, and that is nigh impossible now, - the realistic viewpoint is that we will be a championship side for many years to come.

Long ball please. The current team are incapable of stringing a couple of passes together it's better we go back to the long ball game! Two bad sides. What an awfull match!

Even simpler for you is this fact ! 44 players in first team squad + reserves/youth players, that makes a hell of a lot of injuries & cuptied players !!!!!!!!
Quite a big squad for a team whose owners don't invest in them wouldn't you say? Just a shame there isn't a manager to lead them.
Size is'nt everything.

Don't want to sound negative.
You don't sound negative, you just sound like a moron. Rovers could not get passed a third rate side in Millwall and were lucky not to be well beaten. Even the most jaundiced fan does not believe they have any chance of winning the FA cup. God you are so thick! How on earth do you find your way to the labour exchange in the mornings? You don't have any dependants do you? Poor blighters?
Keyboard warrior. Intellectual perhaps are you?

Moronic? Never had that label before and not sure what the 'labour exchange' is to which you refer.

My post above was meant to be an attempt at subtle sarcasm. It obviously failed. I'll put your comments down to being in a bad mood after watching the game.

Just watched the highlights. Totally, utterly embarrassing to be completely outplayed and overrun by a pretty ordinary Millwall team. We were battered! Appleton is the worst manager of the season and if we don't win on Wednesday I really do expect him to negotiate a pay off.
The highlights. Do me a favour. Highlights would make Graham Fenton look a great Rover.

One piece of good news if correct, one of KEANS misfits, Murphy is said to want to end his contract, to take up a coaching appointment at Fulham, the sooner the better.

Murphy has not been consistent but he would have string a few passes today than ineffective Pederson, Bentley and others. Good display by Dann, and Hanley. Also Rhodes and Best worked their socks off. Only problem is where is the next goal coming with Appleton in charge. Poor tactics and management in last half a dozen games.
just heard murphy wants to cancell his contract to take up a coaching role at fulham,,thats one out,,,just need to get shaw and appleton out too,,the pair of them are out of their depth and its starting to really **** me off,,we may be still in a major cup competition but lm more concerned with our fragile league position and l am deffinately not impressed with appleton as a manager,,this guy will take us down to league 1,,, if we dont act now to save our season by giving gary bowyer the job till the end of the season and putting appleton in charge of the reserves,,only then will we see who the better tactician is,,l already know who it is,,,
