Rovers sign Stewart on loan

BLACKBURN Rovers have signed Hull City winger Cameron Stewart on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old has had limited opportunities at Hull this season and spent time on loan at Rovers' East Lancashire rivals Burnley earlier this season.

Stewart is expected to go straight into Rovers' squad for tomorrow's visit of Peterborough.

Rovers are also in talks with Wigan midfielder Dave Jones as they look to complete a loan deal for him before tomorrow's clash.

I really cannot see the logic in yet another winger when our massive problem is in the centre of midfield. Against the might of Hull and Leicester we saw clearly that Lowe and Murphy are not up to the task and unless we do something on this bit of the park best we can hope for is to whimper over the 50 point safety line. Nunes can produce outstanding final balls yet he doesn't even get a sniff of a start. Gomes showed earlier in the season that he can score for fun at this level yet is behind a seriously out of form DJ Campbell. Good luck to the new lad and don't judge him until he has had a chance to prove himself but wingers we have in abundance, what did MA say about us having a team of no 10's? Now we are overun by no 7's and 11's.

Willing to give every new signing a chance and hope the young lad does well, but for a winger, who can also apparently play as an out and out striker and has scored 1 goal in 61 appearances I'm not holding out much hope

Why are we focusing our attention on Jones when Stephen Ireland is wasting away training with the youth team at Villa. Tip for you Appleton...

The last team to go up convincingly from the Championships was Newcastle

They got promoted with a strong spine to their side and two midfield players who could boss the game, were hard in the tackle, could get box to box and importantly SCORE GOALS regardless as to whether you liked him or not Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan did the business - Not difficult with a goalscorer in Andy Carrol.

We have a relatively good spine to the side apart from the obvious two missing links - and you look to sign the two you have.

Is it not obvious even to the most inexperienced manager what it is in fact we require?

I despair.

This really is bad.

Appleton needs to be working with the players that he has got. I'd rather Josh Morris play than someone on loan. We already have too many loan players. Oh to have the quality of Rochina, Rosado, Formica, and Vukcevic, rather than these below average loan signings. We have sent better players out on loan, than we have loaned in! That is the ridiculous state of the club at the moment.

Where is the planning for next season? Quick fixes and defensive, scrape a 1-0 football. Play OUR players, not loan players, and build for next season.

The one thing we have NOT signed these two players for is to score goals....though if they can add one or two they would be most welcome.

I think most Rovers fans can see that we have more than enough potential goal scorers...the problem is getting balls across for them to score the goals from....so bringing in a winger like Stewart is exactly what we need. Whether he is the right one to bring in is the question and only time will tell.

The midfielder Jones from Wigan has plenty of decent football experience and was rated highly when he came through as a young lad at United. He did really well at Wolves before he moved to Wigan and it will make a nice change to sign a midfielder who does not have a bad injury record.

Good points about wingers, we have more than enough. Despite his slowing down, MGP can still put in a decent cross, so can Olly when released, Bents was a marvellous crosser in his term last time here, Formica was generally a disappointment but was better at RW, assorted Portuguese, and Vuxsi never got a chance. The problem is a very pedestrian midfield who cannot feed the wingers, or even get and hold the ball.
Oh for the days of Les Sox, Sherwood, Atkins feeding Wilcox and Rippers to hare down the line and cross for Big Al.
Rhodes does the business every time he gets a decent cross.

Now, sat on his big salary, he tells us he is frustrated by the loan market, he wants to try shelling out hard earned cash to sit in the Blackburn End or £26 for a ticket at Leicester to watch what he has brought in, now that's frustration Mr Appleton!

sometimes players like Dj have to use the channels or put himself in positions where he can deliver a short cross of his own for his fellow striker, he can just stand there picking his nose while rovers are looking options up front, that said players like markus olsson cant keep panicking everythime he goes near the box hitting desperate punts at goal which are never going to hit the target, think about how fed up the strikers must be with their little crumbs of service

He disposed of quality players that he felt unqualified to coach and replaced them with low league yard dogs. We have mustered five shots on goal in the last three league games and it seems that the players would rather feign injury than turn out for him. My season ticket stays in the drawer for another week.

Williamson looked like he could have improved things before his injury, Jones sounds like he may be able to do a job for us lets see what he's about before we criticize. If Stewart can play on the right wing and has pace then it will give MA more balanced options.I am afraid that you won't get a top class midfielder playing at the top of his game to come for 13 games there would be no point for him, we can only go for players with potential with a point to prove and give the squad more options. Lets give MA the benfit of the doubt and see how he utilizes his squad over the next 13 games or so before we form an opinion. At the end of the day it's down to MA and what Venky's allow him to do and only time will tell.

if anyone out on this planet ever thinks MA is a manager of any repute...!
he is not experienced
he has no prior skills, qualities that will cut him in management.

However, MA is experienced at one thing, and thats the reason hes here.
He is just about able to beg for trashy players who are unwanted at their clubs

And thats what players BRFC can just about pull....!!!!

But at the end of the day he MA is the current manager
and he has a job on his hands

Yes its difficult as its clear not many teams prepared to let good players out on loan......
hence hes left to bring in below average 2nd rate team players

Play offs is going to be extremely difficult

Best will play very little all season if at all as its likely his injury will prevent him.

With due respect MR Darener, and that means very little by the way, you need to actually go to matches to be able to compare and contrast both style of play and results.

Wigan - Dave Jones

Played 34 times for Wigan in total.

This season 17 Appearances - (5 as a sub) - 0 Goals.
Why are we focusing our attention on Jones when Stephen Ireland is wasting away training with the youth team at Villa. Come on MA, let's start being serious, what happened to all this we will only bring in players who can improve the squad? Still, looking at our centre midfield I recon me, dangerous Dave and even glenborian have a chance of getting signed and having a run in the team till the end of the season
Stephen Ireland..don't make me laugh, he's not been decent since his wig wearing days at City.Id rather us take a punt on some young talent instead.
Big Schlong

I respect your views however the facts are that..

These guys have barely played (regular first team starts) and not even scored a goal between them all season.

These two signings were / are to get us supposedly into the playoff places and who knows promoted!!

Welcome to Ewood lads..
Respect your opinion however French Rover due you not think that;

This is the last chance saloon?

Last vital / key throw of the dice with these signings?

For if these guys don't cut it, along with the rest of course, (and many out for months or possibly until the end of this season with injuries) we will not see the Premiership again for years to come for as I have stated on many occasion by this time next year (2 transfer windows) I doubt we will have:

Rhodes
CKR
Hanley
Dann
Olsson
Kean
Hi Matt
no I do not think that we are not in the last chance saloon and we ain't playing dice.

We are very much still a championship club which is looking to finish as high up the table as possible despite the first half of the season handicap.

We lost the best chance to reach the play-offs before the season started when Kean was still in charge as a manager. And then again during the bad albeit quite unlucky run we had under Berg.

Appleton is simply picking-up the pieces and doing a salvage job right now IMO. He is getting the club in a better and more fit state to make a serious challenge to get out of this league next season.

3-0 tomorrow will make the struggle easier....

bon nuit!

I think we should give the new lads a chance, some players leave clubs and dont seem to do anything special such as Bentley did when he joined Tottenham and Torres when he left Liverpool and yet some players change clubs and seem to improve, they might play well for us and pulling them to pieces before they have even kicked a ball for us seems a bit unfair.
They will be wearing the blue and white shirt and that should be enough of a reason for us to at least let them prove themselves.
Think how they must feel being loaned out to different clubs they dont get any stabiity and if they are happy here who knows they may want to stay and help us get promotion.
Play your hearts out lads!!!

My season ticket stays in the drawer for another week.

"go full yourself you geek". That's an interesting cliche is that pseudo American? I think what Mr Bearded Wonder is saying is that stop making up excuses why you're not supporting your team and admit the only reason you are not going is that Rovers in no longer a premier league outfit.
MAKING EXCUSES???? I continued to support the club whilst all the knuckle dragging nob heads were supposedly boycotting the Kean Regime. I am not boycotting and not encouraging anyone to do so. I am simply stating that I no longer choose to watch a negative trainee manager depriving Witton Park of a perfectly average pub team. No excuses, reasons.

My bet is that neither Venkys nor Apple will be here next season. Apple is Venkys' man, after Apple has sold off the useful players and tidied up for Venkys, they'll up stumps. I guarentee Apple's contract has a winding up clause in it and probably a bonus for money banked in India. If he hasn't he's a naive mug.
My abiding hope is that we're still in the Championship at the end of this season, then a proper rebuilding can begin - minus Apple, Venkys, Murphy, Agnew.
Apple is Kean Mark II.
