Looks a decent player and has been in Championship winning teams twice in two years with QPR and Reading. Wolves are looking to sign the lad too...but I reckon MA can talk him into coming to Ewood.

Lowe isn't really a right back Fishcake, he is a very competent and capable midfielder who gets selected in that position for England...

Maybe he had lost his way a little recently - but then who didn't! He is more than capable of holding down his place in normal circumstances in he Rovers team. I do think we will see him improve now there is some order in the side. I remember that the lad captained England Under 20's not so long ago and he is a class act for the Under 21's now.

Has anybody actually seen Williamson play ? He seems like a jack of all trades from descriptions but I'm inclined to trust Appys judgement on where he fits until we can see for ourselves what strengths he brings.

I'm sure that an away game is the best way for him to start though, if he doesn't settle in from the start our home crowd become very critical, very quickly these days.

Jason Lowe... A very competent midfielder? Not in my book, I ask you what his strengths are...what does he offer as a pro footballer? I think he presents this image of a box to box tackling midfielder but I never see him tackle... I see close the player down but never put a foot in, I see him passing sideways and backwards (and out of play) but never forwards.

Does he pick passes? No. Does he score goals? No. Does he take set pieces? No. Does he tackle? No.

SO WHY ON EARTH IS HE PLAYING?

I 100% want him to prove me wrong by offering something to the team and he needs to because at the moment it's close to playing with 10 men.

I thought Lowe had a decent game on saturday especially in the second half.
He's a very busy player ( probably Murphy's legs) who's job is indeed to break up play.Please don't hound him out, the young lad is learning.

Listen, I've never boo'd anyone at Rovers (except for Ke*n) and I certainly wouldn't hound out a Blackburn born young player BUT we need players who are going to win us games and at the moment he isn't that sort of player... We can't afford to let him learn whilst we need results. I'm open to giving him his chance when we can afford to but at the moment I don't think we can, someone needs to come in to the team who can offer more.

The clubs future is bigger than an individuals future.

He cannot be worse than Lowe all he needs to do is pass 50% of his passes in a foward direction and he will be much better than Lowe who incidently is rubbish at right back but better thanre than in midfield stopping progressive play..

Agree completely. I think the reason Murphy has struggled is because Lowe is not up to the job. Hes a player that a few years back would probably been released, similar to jonathan douglas. Must admit, he has a good attitude but that's about it. And I don't think hes first choice for u-21s any more is he?

OK you heard it here first. Karim Rekik of Man City on his way to Rovers. Karim is one of the most highly rated young defenders in world football. In City's first team squad but mainly on the bench and his bench place will go once Kompany is back. Karim was at Portsmouth on load with Appleton and had a regular place. I think he's only 18 and is in Holland's under 21 team. His favoured position is left back or centre back. Not sure where he'll fit in at present. Cannot see him displacing the regular partnership of Dan and Henley, nor of Martin Olson. Unless Martin O is pushed forward and Karim plays at left back.

Also think it's time that Marcus O started to influence games more than he does.

Lowe has a great future in football, even if it is elsewhere as he does not seem to be appreciated at Ewood by some fans.

He is still an important squad player for England and will be in the EURO 2013 squad and will probably play in most games according to Stuart Pearce.

I agree with some of the comments and yes he does need to show his international form for us, but he will only get better and better and it would be better if we could keep him at the Rovers IMO.

BTW the new scouse lad we signed from Everton got both goals tonight in a 2-1 win over Chelski. Well done Anton Forrester, the future of the club (now that we have one again)

Lowe has the potential to be a good player but not in this division, to be fair to him he has been an (almost) ever present for the best part of two years, two years that have basically been the worst in Rovers history for a variety of reasons, and for a young player that must have been pretty awful.

The kid needs a rest, recharge his batteries, he is running on empty and if Rover's aren't careful they will burn him out.

Dont think marcus olsson is the type of winger pass a full back when hes one-on-one with a trick or one-two, he can try without isolating the defender but it is easier to defend those situations, i notice too many of brothers shots at goal are blazed wildly over the bar, someone should mention sometimes that its OK to shoot along the ground.

I personally think he will make a good Right Back

He is quick.
He is strong for his age.
He gets up and down in support of his right winger.
He gets to the by line to cut crosses back

Any central defender worth their salt will defend deep crosses its defending when having had to turn and face your own goal that are nightmare scenarios for any defenders.

Martin Olsson is capable of doing it when he puts his mind to it. The lad Kane showed promise as well for such a young player.

How many points is realistic from the next 12?

Jason Lowe still shows promise, but his partnership with Murphy is not a strong one.

In the first half on Saturday, Lowe spent all his time chasing lost causes, and when he did have it, only passed backwards. Murphy kept getting the ball, only to give it away again. Thankfully they did improve in the second half, but they are not a long-term prospect for me.

Lowe as a full-back was ok, but he never truly looked happy there either. He needs more guidance and more quality around him, if he is to improve and keep his place in midfield.

Bonjour Forever Blue and White (really like your 'nom de plume' BTW - sums it all up nicely)....and yes it is a little tongue in cheek this morning but what is wrong with a bit of justified optimism on this cold sunny morning.

We surely do not have anything more to fear than our opposition does. We are scoring goals and keeping clean sheets and becoming harder to play against. Brighton away will be a good test for sure and Leicester away also - but we will beat both Leeds and Hull at Ewood. Maybe I would settle for your 8pts out of 12 for now....

Agree completely. I think the reason Murphy has struggled is because Lowe is not up to the job. Hes a player that a few years back would probably been released, similar to jonathan douglas. Must admit, he has a good attitude but that's about it. And I don't think hes first choice for u-21s any more is he?

I had high hopes for Lowe and he hasn't lived up to them, but who do we play instead of him?
Before Williamson arrived, Dunn was injured, so to Ethuhu who has proven himself IMO to be less effective than Lowe. Could you play Dunn and Murphy together? I can't see it working? Murphy and Ethuhu have failed to deliver as a partnership for half a season. There's Pedersen but he gives the ball away as much if not more, and I don't think he is as good defensively.

I agree in years gone by he would've been let go but we had better players back then. Lowe does cover defensively, tracks back and makes interceptions no other CM we've got available will do that.
It's the fualt the squad and those who put it together that he is the best we have to fill that position.

Hello all BRFC fans and all else.....!!
I would always support the local players especially the young ones who have a whole future ahead of them.
We need to encourage them not to put them down....!!
Regards Lowe, I think hes still a young lad and still learning...!
Hes BRFC born and bred, hence I would keep him But... in the squad.
He should not be playing regularly as he may already be burnt out...!!!
He needs a rest and hes a good squad player to have at BRFC.
I do not rate him to be 1st 11 player for BRFC but he has had to play as we simply didnt have the players capable of wearing the club colours in the last 2 years.
He is okay as a sub or as afiller and can fill in many positions when required...!!
