BREAKING NEWS: Rovers complete double deal
11:10am Friday 8th February 2013 in Sport
By Andy Cryer, Blackburn Rovers reporter
DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell and Lee Williamson have completed their moves to Blackburn Rovers
QPR striker Campbell, 31, was due to move on a permanent deal on deadline day but, after paperwork issues, had to wait until today to finalise the now loan switch.
The striker's deal - which officially starts tomorrow (Saturday) - will run until May 12th and QPR have a recall clause should it be needed, which can be activated after the first 28 days of the loan.
Former Sheffield United and Portsmouth midfielder Lee Williamson, 30, arrives at Ewood as a free agent and has signed until the summer of 2014.

Lee Williamson, thirty, ex portsmouth and Sheff Utd and free agent. I had never heard of him therefore know nothing about his ability but it sort of speaks for itself.
466 appearances, 41 goals, might be what we need in midfield, might not but at the end of the day we have signed experienced cover in midfield, something we are severely short of.
Personally I trust Appleton's judgement so far, only concern I might have is he has had quite a few injuries.

How we could have done with him this season!
I hope the guy is given the chance to settle in and show what he can do before fans start writing him off.

Happy with Campbell joining. If he is successful we can sign him permanently for less than we would of paid in January, loosening up more funds for other players in the Summer. If he flops, well it's a loan so he can just return to QPR.
Where getting a winger is concerned, doesn't look like Thomas will be joining so should be interesting to see who is lined up. Not sure about Bentley, he's on £50,000 a week so Spurs would have to pay a good chunk of that.
Looking forward to tomorrow. Rhodes to score in 7 games in a row!

When you look back at Berg's time here well he never really had a chance did he. He didn't have any of his own staff to bring in, and though he brought King in (who is potentially a very good player) he was never close to any other decent player loans that were sorely needed at that time. I suppose worst of all (for Berg) was that he didn't get enough wins to give him any breathing space so he was drowning from day one. Nice chap though, I hope he has success elsewhere.

I haven't seen any reports where Campbell has publicly stated that he's only coming to us for the money, therefore I can't really argue that point with you. I did read that Hull didn't make him an acceptable offer and we did so I dare say there's some truth in it, although I doubt it's the be all and end all of the matter.
Personally, I think these are two shrewd appointments by Appleton. We've strengthened the midfield and added a striker with a lot of experience at this level. I wouldn't be surprised to see Goodwillie loaned out though as Rhodes, Campbell, Kazim-Richards, Best and Gomes will all be ahead of him if fully fit. We just need a right-winger, and possibly a centre-half, and we should have enough balance in the team to make a final push for the play-offs.

Waste of time & money. DJ Campbell is useless when we have Rhodes, CKR, Gomez, Goodwillie. Id rather have any of those above DJ. A 30 year old midfielder? Whats the point? Will he get played? Doubtful. We offload some quality players and bring in tripe, what is the point, the wages will still be up there. We desperately needed a right winger and a central defender and yet again we are strengthening in positions that don't require strengthening. I really am at a loss asto who Appleton expects to play down the right wing, Peds can't keep playing out of position.
The point of signing a 30 year old midfielder, we need cover, Appleton's worked with him so knows his capabilities and he hasn't cost us a penny. Name one quality central midfield player who we offloaded in the transfer window?
We are trying to get a right-winger, be patient, it's still only the first day of the loan window. Before you come back with some nonsense about 'having plenty of time in the transfer window', consider for a moment that just because you need something it doesn't mean that somebody else is obliged to give it to you.
In case you've forgotten, we're not a well run Premier League club anymore, we can't attract the well known players like we did in the past. However, just because you've not heard of someone it doesn't automatically make them 'tripe'.
Have a bit of faith in the manager instead of moaning over nothing.

I for one trust Appleton and back him 100%. He's the absolute opposite sort of character than that lying drunkard Kean, who was obviously a huge part of us ending up in this mess. I believe Appleton can achieve what Berg was simply not cut out to do, which is to rid the club of Keans slug trail.
The last 2 & half years have been the bitterest f*cking pill we've had to swallow as Rovers fans thanks to the carnage Venkys have caused but I honestly think the penny has dropped that they've f*cked up too many times and want to try and put things right. They've taken the advice of Shaw rather than that plonker Singh in appointing Appleton, who in my opinion knows EXACTLY the sort of player we need to get out of this league.
I suggest instead of moaning at EVERY single decision and signing (you know who you are) man up, get down to Ewood and support your team. As long as those players are running out infront of 13,000 instead of 18,000+ we will never get out of this league and that's a fact.
Accept the sort of players we can realistically sign, accept where we are, accept Appleton is the manager and hope that his no nonsense approach in ridding the club of gravy train journeymen or unmotivated wannabes will see the club become the heart beat of the town again.

According to 2012 data from the United Nations Development Programme, an estimated 57.2% of Indians live below the country's national poverty line. A 2011 report by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) states that 15 Indian states have more poor people than 36 poorest African nations combined which totals to more than 610 million poor in the poorest African countries.

Keep me informed please, and I'm sure something can be arranged ?

Mr.Eckersley as declined the invitation, but that's cool too.

Anyone moaning at these signings needs to get a grip. How we could have done with him this season!
I hope the guy is given the chance to settle in and show what he can do before fans start writing him off.

Just waiting for his first twelve games to be up at Rovers and then what!!
Oh I forgot he is most likely being paid an absolute fortune so will not walk out on us for the time being,
He has got all his mates in (condition of him getting the job by best pal Shaw) and is getting more or less what he wants like the big spoilt kid.
Nice little number if you can manipulate yourself to getting it which he has.
I dislike the whole sorry sordid business.
