Strike ace Rhodes says Rovers can home in on play-offs (From This Is Lancashire)

Modest maybe but the truth is that Rhodes was the difference between three and one point on Saturday. Let's hope that Campbell and Best help lighten the load and we can get some decent supply in from the flanks. I have to admit, from what little we have seen of him this season, Nunes can deliver a fantastic final ball. I hope the loan window does see us introduce some bite and also creativity into midfield because we are still lacking. I don't know what MA has done at the back but Hanley has come on leaps and bounds, maybe he has been told to stop looking to Dann to take the lead. Dann has also picked up his game but will never be a leader in defence like Nelsen, Short or Berg, just a number 2. Things are looking considerably brighter for the remainder of the season.

Great to see that Rhodes is level headed and more importantly TOTALLY realistic about our performances. He does not gloss over everything when he knows things are still not quite right.

We were fortunate to win on Saturday although we did have a lot of possession.

They had the best three chances in the game however luckily for us they missed them all.

Just after half time headed the ball straight at Kean when it would have been easier to score. Could have been three to them quite easily.

Apart from Rhodes I cannot remember one player having a single shot on target and non coming from our midfield. Excluding Mortens free kick.

CKR was outstanding mind and man of the match by a mile followed by Hanley which says something if he had to be at his best!!

Were under the cosh for 15 / 20 minutes beginning of the second half and took that long to recover from 3 of our players not coming onto the field in time for the resumption of the second half so goodness knows what had gone on in the half time break.

When they kicked off we had 8 players on the pitch. Murphy was beside himself.

In spite of all the problems we have had with Venky's you have got to give them credit for this signing. They were determined to get him and came up with the cash. What a good move, pity about some of the others though. They need Best and Cambell in the event this boy gets injured because he is playing a lot of games.

If we can keep in touch with the top 6 then have a Moh Farah finish for the last 10 games we have a chance of the play offs - that's a massive if though.

this rest of this season should be about trying to get some equilibrium and consolidation at ewood and make sure that everything is in place next season for a proper assault on the promotion spots in 13/14 (venkys/shabby and the other clowns permitting).

appleton is talking a good game and we are progressively looking a bit more like a team, as opposed, to a bunch of stangers - BUT! we are a way off where we need to be.

i know we, as rovers fans, can be accused of being overly negative and inwardly naval gazing - but you cannot under-estimate the trail of destruction heaped upon our club in such a short time. sure other clubs have gone doolally and bananas - but generally these clubs had been in chaos for a number of years - but rovers capitulated in effectively 12 months. the closest i can think of to rovers is birmingham city (who to my shortsighted eyes are in more trouble than us) and karsten yeung has been involved at blues since 2007 (takeover in mid 2009).

get our business in order - and with a fair wind; mount a challenge next season and if we are lucky we may be ready for the prem in 14/15. remember when we went down in 98/99 - it took the removal of kidd and the rebuilding by souness for us to come back two seasons later - and then we were a much better organised club with a stable base and jack walker still there (at least for the first season in D1.....or whatever it was called then)

I pointed out that we had a game in hand which he denied and said we had played the same number of games so it seems the highlight of a Burnley fan's season is to finish higher than Rovers a club that has had 5 different managers in just over half a season.

btw, we've won last two games under Appy so yeah feeling a little confident since no transfers were made into the club during that time. Best is back soon and Williamson, Campbell and Thomas in the first team should really up the gameplay.

So our second striker, who has a combined goal tally of 3 goals all season, didn't score again, didn't hit the target again, didn't create any assists, didn't create any chances whatsoever and to you he was OUTSTANDING MAN OF THE MATCH?!

Or do you base that on the fact that "he won the headers from the longballs"? The 90% of balls that come from our backline that are aimed at him. I counted 6 times thourghout 90 mins where CKR was bearing down on goal and decided to shoot. How many of those hit the target? Zero. I think the lad Goodwillie would be at least able to test the keeper once in 90 mins.

Desperate times. Venky's obviously want to escape from their Blackburn nightmare as soon as possible. Hasslem you are missing a crucial factor in our last campaign to win promotion. We still had the support of Jack Walker, we had an experienced manager and our team then was better than it is now. What would we give now for a young Duff, and Dunn, Jansen, Berkovich, Craig Short, Hughes. What happened last time is not a blueprint for this time. There isnt a blueprint for a venture under Venkys!!

I counted 6 times thourghout 90 mins where CKR was bearing down on goal and decided to shoot. How many of those hit the target? Zero. I think the lad Goodwillie would be at least able to test the keeper once in 90 mins.

Where was you at the Brighton game then? Because I watched Goodwillie quite clearly from the Blackburn end only testing our own keeper, in the worst possible way!!

regrettably you are wrong - we still had the support of jack walker IN SPIRIT - but I am certain that jack died very early in the season (may even been before the first game) i know it was a lovely sunny day down at crewe the day(s) after for the first game post Jack Walker - sure we had Walker signings etc. but Jack had turned up his toes long before those famous games at preston and birmingham.

i remember souness saying how much he regretted jack not being around to celebrate promotion

PS...Whatever the politics surrounding the departures of the top players / earners, it doesn't alter the fact that Venkys got good money for most of them.

So our second striker, who has a combined goal tally of 3 goals all season, didn't score again, didn't hit the target again, didn't create any assists, didn't create any chances whatsoever and to you he was OUTSTANDING MAN OF THE MATCH?!

Or do you base that on the fact that "he won the headers from the longballs"? The 90% of balls that come from our backline that are aimed at him. I counted 6 times thourghout 90 mins where CKR was bearing down on goal and decided to shoot. How many of those hit the target? Zero. I think the lad Goodwillie would be at least able to test the keeper once in 90 mins.

Darwen End actually and yes the second half started as Rhodes and two others just about crossed the white line so the referee did not wait for them to get into respective positions and that's why Murphy was hand gesturing to the dugout.

As for three chances yes they had three good chances their best the header just after half time which I was more or less directly in line with.

Did we have no penetration from midfield - No we did not.

My knowledge of the game may not be the greatest however is based on facts as is Jordan Rhodes, not based on head in the sand.

I appreciate workers don't get paid much in India and it is dirt cheap to live there but they must be starting at a pretty low point if they are considered to be in poverty under those circumstances. I don't see many of them joining your darlings the super rich anytime soon though.

The super rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer. It is the way so called super economies work. Take the American dream; Over 99% of the US's wealth is in the hands of less than 1% of its population yet everybody believes they can make their millions despite remaining slaves to those who already have.

If you're happy continuing paying hommage to the super rich as though they represent the people of India then by all means carry on. I doubt they look at themselves in quite the same way.

It doesn't matter about the politics surrounding the departure of the top / highly paid players or whether they wanted to play for the club or not. Venkys got good money for most of them.
That still doesn't alter the fact that they were never replaced like for like, Venkeys preferring to replace them with cheaper, inferior players. Hence our position now. That was my whole point before you jumped in on my post whilst I was replying to someone else.

I agree with you about the second rate players scenario but politics in any sporting organisation, at any level, plays a massive role, and I speak from bitter experience.

Don't get me wrong, Venky's remain totally at fault for our decline, they were either ripped off by whoever or were totally unprepared for what could happen.

But owners, management, players and fans all have a role to play.

Key members of any team, role models if you like, who are unhappy create a negative atmosphere which becomes all permeating, everyone is affected, and the only way to go is get rid.

OK we think Venky's got "good money" for those that left, but all the contracts have clauses and sub clauses, usually to the players advantage, so I suspect that Venky's will have done well to break even on the deals.

As for second rate players, if you were a player similar in stature, or possibly better than say, Chris Samba, looking at Rovers from the outside, a club with crackpot owners, an inexperienced manager who is despised by the majority of fans, fans baying for blood every game, a team loosing confidence, possibly heading for relegation.......

I think the lad Goodwillie would be at least able to test the keeper once in 90 mins.

I cannot defend Venkys for their mistakes about what promises they made to BRFC when they bought the Club.Brfc is a good club ,it's a historical club with the right sort of investments BRFC could be back in big times again.Venkys must invest heavily and allow Appleton more transfer funds to win the fans back.They must sack Shebby Singh he has no role here,he has no understanding of English Football clubs.Why not appoint Simon Garner or Alan Shearer as Club's advisor to win the fans back.Appleton is right Venky for time being must stay away from Ewood Park.I hope for BRFC a great club with great history the Venkys live up their promises.

I appreciate workers don't get paid much in India and it is dirt cheap to live there but they must be starting at a pretty low point if they are considered to be in poverty under those circumstances. I don't see many of them joining your darlings the super rich anytime soon though.

The super rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer. It is the way so called super economies work. Take the American dream; Over 99% of the US's wealth is in the hands of less than 1% of its population yet everybody believes they can make their millions despite remaining slaves to those who already have.

If you're happy continuing paying hommage to the super rich as though they represent the people of India then by all means carry on. I doubt they look at themselves in quite the same way.

India was a third world country with more than half the population were on abject poverty.India today is booming economy, India is the second fastest growing economy in the world.By 2025 India will become economic superpower and will have the third largest economy after USA and China.As you know India is the world's largest democracy.India is beacon of democracy to the world.India has always been a free market economy like USA and UK.In a free capitalist economy like India there are always going to be poor ,rich and super rich people.India has lifted some 300 million people out of poverty from 1980 to 2010.Because India has 1.2 Billion people the task of eradicating poverty will take India another 20 years if India's economy by 2030 forecast to be the the third largest in the world.Even Chairman Mao could not eradicate poverty in China by his Communist state ownership and collective system.The capitalist free market economies has been the strongest economies in the WESTERN COUNTRIES the communist models has failed in Russia and China .China and Russia now have become FREE MARKET ECONOMIES to lift millions of their poor people out of poverty.
The rich as you called them they are the wealth creator .They invest into the economy to and create jobs for the poor people.Venkys employs more than 250,000 people in India.Thats 250,000 people on payrolls otherwise could have been jobless with no money.In India top salary earners get beetween £4,000 to £20.000 ,middle income earners get beetween £1,000 to £3,000 and the lowest would be around £350 to £800 per year.A roadsweeper would be the lowest paid,Policemen,call centre workers,skill men, would be middle income and Civil Servant,Bankers,Comp
