Iunderstand Robbo wanting to go. But why would we swap an ex Englad international for a third choice keeper who in all fairness will probably not play due to Kean and therefore strifle the development of our youth keepers! Have a word Appy!

Sorry to see him go I think he has been a good keeper for us and it's a pity he was treated badly with talk of Brad coming and being dropped for an untried reserve at the time. Had Shebby's dabs all over it. I wish him well and I bet he does ok for Sam This could turn out to be mistake by us.

Robinson was the only player I saw clapping the fans after the Wigan game and for that he has respect.

Of all the problems with Rovers performances Robinson was not one.

Still he's in good company with fellow quality, time-served pros like Neslon, Samba, Emerton and Salgado all being forced out.

Eh? Why do you have to respond so aggressively? There are more fans who appreciate Paul Robinson than don't. This site's posters don't represent the majority. I agree with Crow27. I think he has been treated badly. He was the only player who made his position clear during the Kean era. Always supported the fans whether they were chanting against Venkys or other and often gave the Darwen End thumbs up. He is also the only one who without exception applauded the fans at the end of each torturous game last season. He had to play behind a non existent defence and it's harsh to judge him on that. Mentioning an aged Friedel as a replacement must have been an insult. Good luck to him. I have a feeling that under Big Sam he will find his form again.

Robbo wasn't showing his best form this season, looked at fault for more then a few goals and the time was probably right to move on. Not too sure about getting this keeper in part ex, hopefully doesn't mean the end of kean as he's done nothing wrong. Hopefully just decent back up if required.

Mixed feeling over Robbo. A good fella who has been poorly treated in the past, but... can't stop a shot from outside the box to save his life and poor on dealing with crosses - including corners.

Once a keeper's weakness have been rumbled they become a liability. Good luck to him, but a 7 out of 10 keeper for me.

Never hides and fully understands the hurt we the supporters have felt these past years. Always gave it is best shot every game for us the supporter and the club. Nothing but admiration for the guy regardless that he sometime came up short(we all have our off days) from time to time.

His shoddy treatment under the England set up at the time took a lot of self belief to come back from that and Rovers got a class keeper determined to make amends. One of Inces better buys in his otherwise disastrous tenure !

Good luck Robbo. Maybe we'll see you down at Ewood one fine day as a goalkeeping coach ?

However, he is without doubt past his best, and in my opinion we made a mistake letting Bunn go, and keeping Robbo. Same mistake we made all those years ago keeping Flowers and letting Given leave.

I am talking about the time when Appleton wasn't here if you read it properly. when Shebby had his dabs on everything. Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case anymore

What has happened to Grzegorz Sandomierski. Has anyone seen him play or has he been loaned out ..

you are being generous with the 7 out of 10 eddyo....

I like Robbo a lot (could never understand why Spurs let him go) and to be fair he has been playing behind a poor defence (and a poor team) but he has been shocking for the last year or so.

He is better than what we have seen for sure - but I was disappointed he didn't produce his best for us when we really needed him to, whatever the reasons.

His stats last season in the prem were disgraceful and he didn't improve this season any. So I think its the right decision to let him go now. Every club needs three keepers - so it makes sense to bring the 24 year-old lad in from them also.

Hi Eckersley, Lancs will not get any job if his post is anything to go off!

Good luck Robbo, you did an admirable job in trying to fill the massive void left by the greatest keeper I've ever seen, Friedel.

A 6/10 player this last 18mths and the right time for him to be moved on.

I can imagine big sam being besides himself with excitement at the prospect of once more using Robbo's hoof balls into the box. WTF (We're now a mid table Championship team having gone through multiple failed managers and I'm still glad he's gone!)

Even at his best he was curiously vulnerable to a shot across him, but like many I appreciated his attitude to the fans. When we were really down under Kean and all hell was loose between fans and owners, Robbo always gave us a clap and you could see he was genuinely sympathising with the fans.
More cash saved for Venkys on wages.
It must be said also that with happy defence featuring Robbo, Salgado, Nelsen, Emerton and Samba we wouldn't likely have gone down.Shame on you Venkys and Kean.

Probably will. Not many at LT can spell.

Other than the game against Burnley, Robinson hasn't performed well enough to warrant a starting place which is the reason he wanted to move on. Therefore, I find it very strange that he's going to West Ham when Jussi Jaaskelainen is one of the top performing goalkeepers in the Premier League. I expected Robinson to leave but I thought he'd go to a club where he'd be the automatic first choice keeper. As for getting Henderson in exchange, I don't understand why they would add another keeper to the wage bill when they've already got three in the squad, unless they're also thinking about cutting Sandomierski's loan short.

This is a good decision, some commenters on here make me shake my head in disbelief. Robbo is a good gk, and a good bloke. However its basic common sense, we've got another keeper who is as good and paid much less. Robbo is one of the top earners at the club. So get rid of the expensive guy we dont need, to free up wages for one of the positions we are desperately short in. FFS someone said we should keep Robinson around 'for his experience'. Get real! What a f*cking waste of money that is.

This move is an absolute no brainer for Rovers.

I for one wish Robinson well - he was one of a few players who understood how shoddy the Rovers fans had been treat - he himself also not given the full respect he should have had from the abysmal Management at Blackburn!!!

So to compare Samba and Nelsen to Salgado and Emerton simply isn't on.

Kean lied everytime he opened his mouth - but Nelson himself told quite a few porkies about his knee and his career. He went back to NZ in January last year to get NZ specialists to look at his knee (pictures showed him on crutches) and he said at that time:

All Whites captain Ryan Nelsen is satisfied his knee injury is not career-threatening and hopes he can help keep Blackburn Rovers in the premier league and assist New Zealand at the London Olympics.

Nelsen returned to New Zealand to consult specialists on a niggling injury to his right knee which has limited him to one premier league appearance this season.

"The medical team at Blackburn have been brilliant, they are world class, but it's always good to get a second opinion from guys I know and trust. It's always good when a New Zealander sees a New Zealander.''

Nelsen said the visit had confirmed that he can expect to play again. Some Kiwi summer sunshine in Christchurch, Marlborough and Auckland has also helped him feel physically and mentally refreshed, "and hopefully I can get back and help the team.''

But he is still taking a cautious approach, saying it is too early to say when he would be able to play at premier league level.

"I played a game against Aston Villa in August when some other players weren't available. It set me back really, long term.

"I just don't want that same thing to happen again.... I want to be sure when I do come back that I won't be doing long-term damage.''

The All Whites' 2010 World Cup finals hero does not feel the injury will prematurely end his career but the 34-year-old quipped: "When you get to my age, you can't guarantee anything!''

Nelsen, 34 joined Blackburn in January 2005 on a free transfer from American Major League Soccer champions DC United. He has played over 200 games for the Lancashire club and became team captain in his first season. He is now club captain, with fellow centreback Christopher Samba taking over the team duties.

The Cantabrian, who returns to England early next week, said it had been "really painful and frustrating having to sit on the sidelines and watch'' as Blackburn struggled at the foot of the premier league table this season.

He said he hoped he "can get back and see if I can hopefully contribute to the second part of the season''. "It's been really awful not being able to help''.

One month later he was off to Spurs!
