Blackburn Rovers handed Arsenal trip in FA Cup

BLACKBURN Rovers have been drawn away to Arsenal in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Rovers won 3-0 at Derby in the fourth round but face Arsenal for the first time since being beaten 7-1 at the Emirates in the Premier League last season.

Ties are scheduled to take place on the weekend of February 16 and 17.

I started thinking that we seem to draw the top PL teams a lot. We've had Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea quite a lot but then I realised its because we have progressed to the latter stages of cup competitions quite a bit in last 20 years so we are bound to come up against them. I think we've played all of those 3 teams in semi's. Who can forget McCarthy's late goal against Arsenal at Ewood in the return leg after Fabregas has insulted Mark Hughes about his style of play. Well done to Paul Dickov today. I'm so pleased for him. Oldham need the money.

I don't think they will class us as a Class A game do you? Arsenal think that they can charge extortionate prices for rich clubs and to see the best players. They forget the fans aren't rich.

I think there's different levels of motivation to fork out that much to travel to the Emirates: either you are a league 1 or 2 club that has never played the big clubs at their own grounds before so the whole occasion for fans and players is massive and you dream of a cup upset, you are a club that can at least compete and so there is a good chance you might get something there, you can match or outclass them, or you have played Arsenal at the Emirates at least once a year for the last 11 years so it's no big thrill and your team is no longer in the same league so unlikely you will get anything other than a thrashing, you enjoy a trip to the capital and watching better class players and will make a weekend of it. If you haven't figured out Modan is a dingle then god help you.

Its getting harder to sort the wheat from the chaff these days, loads of would-be supporters not attending matches but gloating on Dingle articles, dingles pretending to rovers to wind us up..

Wish we could just stick to football.

I'm going to make a point of ignoring doomies, gloomies, dingles and neggies. Seems like most of these people either don't attend Rovers games or can get past that Venky's are here to stay.

Appleton is turning this team around and a thrashing at Arsenal is in no way a guaranteed result, so how about ignoring the politics and just concentrating on the task at hand, which is getting behind the team and being the 12th man for a change?

On that note, the away support was amazing yesterday. Slow to start up but when CK-R scored, it just lifted the whole rovers away crowd and the team with it. Almost like the good old days again, really appreciating the players putting in the effort to play for a manager who has clearly gained their respect already.

Forget about being negative. Just imagine what an incredible boost it would be if we took the game to Arsenal and beat them on their own turf?

I for one will be happy just seeing our team playing toe to toe with the gunners and showing some premiership quality.

Not negative. Realist Unless you would care to tell me which of the squad apart from Rhodes, Olson and, perhaps, Henley would make it? As for Derby, my first visit was in (I think) 1952 with my dad. I've been a regular visitor since. 70's 5th round cup tie, play off semi spring readily to mind. I don't go now due to no fault of my own, but I feel entited to put my two pennorth in.

I bet Appy is quite pleased as actually its not a bad draw RR.....everyone automatically expects us to get hammered down there - so no pressure on the lads or him really.

Imagine if we had been drawn against Oldham or Luton and then got beat - the doom merchant plonkers that come on here and moan moan moan would have had a field day. Also it isn't beyond us to go and get a draw there and nick it one-nil at Ewood in the replay. :-)

Stone was probably going down Ewood when you were swimming in your dads sacks.

Take your Indian/Venkys propaganda and shove right up your ar5e
I am having a big laugh at your comments
VENKYS OWN THIS CLUB
YES VENKYS OF INDIA OWNS BRFC
GO AND JOIN BRAG THEY WILL BUY YOU BEER AND SANDWICH AT YOUR NEXT POTEST AT EWOOD PARK.
THE BIG GATES AT EWOOD PARK WILL BE SHUT SO DO NOT ENTER IF YOU DON'T LIKE VENKYS.
INDIAN FLAG WILL FLY AT EWOOD PARK AND A STATUE OF GANDHI WILL BE PLACED NEXT TO JACK WALKER'S STATUE.
WHO IS HAVING THE LAST LAUGH YOU PRAT.
What utter rubbish..Venky's have been at the club nearly 3 years and have absolutely screwed Rovers..Don't worry, I will not be going back to Ewood till they have GONE..I have more sense..I watch Garry Flitcroft's Chorley and advise others to follow until those bandits are kicked out

Would have been great if Arsenal came to Ewood Park. But still a good draw
Blackburn Rovers still will give their best shots to try and beat Arsenal.
Venkys entourage turns up in their Rolls Royce yeah who owns the club now ?
Live wihit it's Venky's club now not Walker boys who fled to Jersey with cash from the sale of BRFC.You are worst than dingles aren't you ?
You moron are scum of the very purest state, with an agenda as plain as your venks lies. go tell mummy venk to send someone else to infiltrate these boards someone a little more subtle that doesn't look so bleedin obvious.

Evening Mr French.....

One of them isn't it really - all open to conjecture ? That in itself is no bad thing. At least we have something of note to speak of. It is a win win situation really(so long as we don't do a SA !) which I doubt we will under the Appy man. I would say he would want to test himself with his charges against the cream of the crop, and hey, why not ? Souness had a good crack at it at the now defunct Highbury in the FA Cup, and went on to win promotion although we lost on the day to a vastly superior team with the Henry's, Pirez, and the Blonde haired chap Petit running the show, but served it's purpose for the remainder of the season. Gives them a reminder what they are missing !

A good solid performance will suffice, sir and let us see where it takes us. Good enough, me thinks ?

But, we have more important stuff before that little matter, and going into that off some positive stuff will be grand. :-)

On we go mate :)

Who owns BRFC right now Venkys .So what if Venkys turned up in their Rolls Royce.
If you don't like Venkys stay away from Ewood Park like BRAG and rest of mob who threw snow balls at Venkys.
The Walker boys fled to Jersey with cash from the sale of BRFC.
Anyway good draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.
Good luck Rovers and hope you beat Arsenal.
Shut up racist

At least you lot can concentrate on staying up now. Just wondering how many toothless simpletons from Trampburn are actually going to make the trip to Arsenal at 60 odd quid a ticket. I'm guessing not too many. I'm sure your proud owners will be there however, just to rub your noses in it..

Couple more weeks with Appleton and I think we will be hard to beat. Arsenal will think it's an easy game anf field a weakened team. I think we could bring them back to Ewood for a replay.

I now Venkys have made mistakes in the last two years by appointing Steve Kean as manager. What choice do we have it Walkers sold BRFC to Venkys
We must support Appleton and new younger player like Rhodes,Rochina,Hanle
y Lowe, King and the rest.
I want Venkys to give more transfer funds to appleton anf get Brfc back in Premier League asap.
Venkys are billionaire family from Pune India and they give a lot of money to charities in India. They provided free hospital for the poor and handsout free food for the poor.
The people in Europe,UK and USA love India and it's people.
They love yoga, hinduism Buddhism and Indian foods. In India people speaks English because India was a British colony. the red double decker buses, red post boxes,an the railways are still there.
Indian people are peace and loving people and India is the world's largest democracy, with free press, free courts, free market economy.Indian people love sports like cricket, football, ten
nis, grand prix formula 1 and horse racing.
there isa large Indian population In Blackburn,Leicester,
London,Kirklees,Birm
